How to reduce Genesis file sizes in Carrara?
there was a trick recommended by PhilW - (been trying find the post (doh))
temporarily move the morph folders of morphs you not using in genesis (is in data folder),
before you saving genesis to carrara?
haven't tried it yet.thank you Miss Tara :) will have a gander - fisrt I must discover what morphs I am using I guess !
HelpSo I've used Daz to make some very basic models. I've been asked to make an elderly lady. I've downloaded Victoria 4.2 (and morphs) as well as two different aging morph packages. I just can't seem to find them or use them? Any help for this newbie? All I want is an elderly lady!! Is that too much to ask ? :P
Thanks in advance
I have used V4 & M4 maybe less than a dozen times but I think you need to first use the Power Looader for Victoria 4 and ensure when you load V4.2 /she'll be in 'Smart Content tab' under Figures or she'll be in the 'Content Library tab' under DAZ Content - 'Library' - 'People' - Victoria 4 (I think Victoria but maybe just Victoria 4 or v4). When you click the icon it should bring up a dialogue that is the 'Power Loader' which a bunch of morph products - you need to go through that list and put check marks in all the morphs you want to load. Then after it loads you will find the morph adjustment sliders in the 'Shaping' tab. or the 'Parameters' tab.
I think I'm right but not 100% as I typed this from memory.
Carrara CHALLENGE - Tomatoes et al #33 Chat TimeUB, I use DS to export the genesis mesh in OBJ then import that mesh into Carrara, go into the modelling room and do your thing with it then export the mesh from Carrara as obj with new name and then reload into DS using morph loader to create a new Genesis morph and save...
in this case I made a new morph for Genesis called Supreme Leader.
then when I load genesis in Carrara I can apply my morph like any other morph...

Another day of Genesis 3 female stacking prices... I can't shake the feeling V8 is about to make her debut. Next Tuesday, perhaps?
And I think it's funny to see DarwinsMishap's Nikolas for Genesis 3 Male and Leo Lee's Grimaces - Morph Dial & One-Click Expressions for Genesis 3 Male being released today, with another G3F Stack Up sale, when there were no G3M products released with the Bad Boys of Daz sale...

Well they're bad so had gone AWOL - pub probably, but are back now; course only Nikolas has recovered from his hangover.
Move rotations from hip to root while keeping figure in place? But what would be more convenient would be a command to give the effect of unparent in place, then reparent; transfer the transforms to the figures, without my having to go through the extra steps of parenting, then reparenting. Actually both would be nice, as I could see needing each in different circumstances.
On the other hand, what I described for the transform tools would be best. Then I wouldn't need to go through the extra step of using parent objects as proxy to transform multiple objects simultaneously (biggest problem is messing with parent object's pivot point, so that parented objects rotate around needed point; tool that averaged the pivot points of selected objects would mean I wouldnt have to mess with this, and wouldn't have to worry about a parent object's pivot point being secretly moved by a preset or some other unknown process in DS, something that I find happens a lot).

haven't tried it yet.Fclone: Facial Motion Capture for animation ??"Maybe this is a dumb question, but what figures are people testing this with? Genesis 1-3 facial expressions are primarily done with morphs rather than bone, so maybe this was designed to work with the older V4 or Poser figures?
"
From the site page:
"With this software, users can create not just games but personal avatars, such as a virtual character to be the presenter in a YouTube video. This means the software can be applied to personal creation and indie animation as well.
f-clone is able to export motion data that is fully compatible with the DAZ Studio, it is widely usable by the many individuals and hobby users who use DAZ Studio."No mention of poser and the Black guy character in the video is clearly one of the recent G3 male Characters
(Name escapes me ATM).You should inquire with Morph 3D and ask them if they are going to add such a feature to their Personal Avatar / Avatar system they are building. After all, personal avatars are not very personal if they don't allow for including people's uniquely peculiar facial expressions.
Exporting morph targetsI want to say a big thank you to all who helped me understand the difficulties of transferring Carrara morphs to Poser. I did manage to get Poser to accept the carrara targets but the morph wheel in Poser either ripped them appart or sent them into space. I guessed the vertex order was wrong and after fruitless attempts I gave up. I am now starting from scratch in Poser and hopefully I will get some help on my way to a successful conclusion.
Using the magnetI gave up trying to transfer Morphs from Carrara. Now trying to create them with Poser and having difficulty with controlling the alignment of the magnet. I was trying to dish one of the cylinder bases as seen in the attachment. Although it is probably exactly as I need, it happened by accident when I was trying to position the magnet. I would like to get the result by design and not by accident. Probably a silly question but:
How can I position the parts independantly? The magnet, the base and the cylinder all moved together when I tried to set it up.
Carrara CHALLENGE - Tomatoes et al #33 Chat TimeLike the hair in my Supweme Wuler plus a bit of extra weight could make one think of someone from up North, though I did model a face morph on him in Carrara then applied it using the DS plugin for Carrara
Thanks Stezza, I understood your earlier comments, but not this one. So, when you create a morph in the Carrara model room, you have to apply it using a DS plugin?

I don't know exactly what say the vendors have in the discounts, but today's has NO additional discount for buying more than one of the new releases for the day, whereas the Bad Boys did. Maybe those vendors didn't want an additional 20% off theirs.

Import obj filesI'm sorry, I didn't follow that. The shirt, before rigging, needs to line up with the figure you want to wear it (if it doesn't, adjust it until it does, export as OBJ, and bring that OBJ back in using the same preset to bake the adjustments). Then use the Transfer Utility to rig that.
Considering Carrara for NPR work...also if you havent seen this challenge thread - there was a flurry of NPR experimentation going on here https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/160591/carrara-challenge-32-they-only-come-out-at-night-wip-thread-meet-our-pa-sponsor-gkdantas/p1
Welcome :)
It's just as easy to set up your scene in Carrara,.
Load your figures sets and props from the content browser,. ...same as Daz studio. In DS, you can save as a DUF scene file,. and open that in Carrara. Any animation needs to be baked to the DS timeline before you can transfer it to carrara. Lights and cameras from DS, or any other program will be replaced by carrara's lights cameras.
Obviously any program specific features or plugins won't transfer,. this is the same for most programs,. EG oceans tree's or clouds won't transfer from Carrara to DS (and operate in the same way). Yet another reason it's better to get used to loading assets into the program you're going to be using, rather than transfering via an export/import file. In DS the shaders (materials) are set-up for DS and Iray render engines. In Carrara,. those settings can appear shiny/glossy, because the settings from the DS shaders are translated to carrara's shaders,. most of the time, you'll want to adjust some of these shader settings to look better in carrara,. once you're happy with that,. you can save the shader to your browser, and then drag/drop onto other models in other scenes. Physics in carrara is different from a clothing simulator. There is a Plugin called VWD Cloth and hair, which is a clothing dynamics simulation tool, originally designed for use with Poser,.
Hope it helps
Thanks so much guys. As I said above, I really need to find a workflow to create about 20-40 illustrations by the end of the year, using a style that I have not yet specified (but it is b&w). It's for a roleplaying game set in the Wild West. I have a good workflow for Poser (and, if I don't work something out by the end of June, I will fall back on it). But I have a LOT of great content in Daz Studio that doesn't work in Poser, so finding another tool to access it would be a plus. Right now, I'm gearing up for some experimentation that includes working with Carrara, working with Daz output and running it through some filters like Topaz Clean/Simplify or Akvis Sketch.
I will definitely be looking into the plug-in you guys mentioned.
Genesis V5 (Victoria 5) head morph to GF3 HeadRelax, Leo. I understand that you are frustrated, but you must understand that I am not a DAZ employee, or moderator, or affiliated in any way with the GenX products (other than the fact that I happen to have them). I am merely an ordinary user like yourself that is trying to help. The reason why I spoke to the textures was because you said, in the annotations in the third image attached to your third post, "Objective: to transfer the facial features of the Victoria 5 model on the left to the GF3 model on the right. Including textures."
It is unfortunate that you chose to focus on the texture issue and not my other comments. There is no "just do this and it will work" solution in your case, because the issue is related to the specific configuration of your PC, I believe. And therefore a solution specific to your PC is required. I know that GenX, with the two addons will do exactly what you want to do, because I have done it myself. We need to address the "greyed out" figures issue before we can do anything else. Once we have solved that, the rest should be relatively easy. In order to help you with that we require some information about your PC, like I had asked for and which you have not yet provided. Please let us know how your content is configured and we may be able to help, since I am convinced that that is at the root of the problem. Let's find out..
mcjGen1BodyconPlus - Beautiful dress for Genesis 1, 2 (not 3)For those who just can't wait, you can download the image that Jacques has provided here, and just place it in the appropriate folder yourselves. If you have any of the other products from mCasual that come with textures, you probably already have the necessary folder in your content library, that folder being:
"Whateveryourmain content folder is called"\Runtime\Textures\mcasual\
If you don't have the mcasual folder already, just create it under Textures, then drop the Bee file in there. (Note: the image file posted here has a cryptic alphanumeric name, so be sure to change that to the required Bee.jpg) Done.
Here's a quick-and-dirty with a shorter dress morph on G2F with the Bee tex.
Oops. BTW, thank you for sharing, Jacques! Its got a bunch of morphs/options to mess with, folks!
Wear Them AllThanks @giselle3000.
I did this last summer! But I still have the file (amazing!).
There is only style morphs for this outfit (https://www.daz3d.com/winter-fun-for-kids-4) and they still work for example the morph "fit over ears" for the hat is still effective. Checked also the jacket and everything seems to work fine. The scarf has no movement or style morph.
Thanks, @xmasrose(akatulipe), good to know! I do wonder why some outfits lose the morphs and others retain it. I'm always happy when they still work after tranferring :D
