The 'Eat Your Food and Like It' Complaint Thread
....there are a lot of new pop musicians and bands today that I have never heard of until someone mentions their name.
I had the 45 of Hey Jude which was one of the longest songs (7 min 12 sec) ever issued on a 7" record. The B-side was Revolution.
Saw them in September 1964 at the old Milwaukee Arena. The tickets for the seats we had on the floor by the stage cost a whopping 4.75$, which in today's economy would be 49.50$. Still a bargain considering what a tickets to see a performer or band of that calibre costs today.
Guess I've risen to the status of "old fuddy duddy".
[well, then again I did complete 72 trips around our central stellar primary last week Monday.]
The 'Eat Your Food and Like It' Complaint ThreadNon-complaints: 1. We are having Early Christmas with the (grown) kids tomorrow. Pizza & games.
2. Son sent us a hand drawn (he is good) Christmas card that was very touching.
3. Cold is better
(The Dogs') Complaints: Wednesday Mom was too sick to take us on a walk & Dad isn't recovered enough from surgery to do so. We did get let out often & got extra treats, but not enough to make up for the inconvenience. Also, Mom didn't give us all her chicken last night as a chaser for dinner.
@memcneil70 I am glad you are okay. The winds last night weren't as bad as CO. (North central Arkansas)
@SilverGirl that is such a sweet thing.

Daz Central non saprei risponderti che non lo uso...
Con il DIM lo puoi fare (devi andare nelle impostazioni e settare le varie cartelle).

On my desktop it shows "Pose Converter" and it is a green plug with the following:
Filename : C:/Program Files/DAZ 3D/DAZStudio4/plugins/dzposeconvertor.dll

On my laptop where I also logged in to Daz Central and did all of the items it doesn't even list the "Pose Converter".Was it a joke that the ManFriday products were brought directly into the program? Should I uninstall those?
I did uninstall all Premiere plugins, rebooted, brought up Daz Studio, Verified not there, Re-installed all Premiere items and still missing.Old Manfriday Pose Companion plugin and Pose Converter plugin binded with Premier tier actually can be loaded at the same time as they're different DLL files. They can work well separately.
The issue you have might come from the layout. You can try Update and Merge Menus under Window > Workspace. Save your current DS layout beforehand.

Lascialo perdere, molto meglio il DIM o l'installazione manuale.
AIUTO...CHI CONOSCE L’ITALIANO?
Bel viso, mento presente, e cosi via.

Hi there!
Thank you Rkane_1! I'm glad you like it, guys.
Hello Mechasar, I have a question on your product - Hitoshi Sensei HD for Genesis 8 Male, the old man's teeth is rare, how can I add some teeth for him?
I tried to slide the Hitoshi Sensei bar to 0 in the Shaping, he then goes back to normal G8M, and his teeth is full, but I don't know how to keep those full teeth when slide to 100% Hitoshi Sensei, please help. Thanks.
I apologize for the delayed reply, but without a tag it’s hard for me to find requests. So, Hitoshi’s character doesn’t come with an opacity map for the teeth, the entire mouth is part of the head morph, teeth included. This means that trying to reposition his teeth won’t achieve anything except distorting the whole character. But the great thing about DAZ Studio is that you can always find out-of-the-box solutions. So, follow the steps below and you’ll be able to easily fix old Hitoshi’s teeth.
At this point, dear Hitoshi should be sporting a bright, shiny smile ;)
Thank you Mechasar, I also apologize for the late reply since I found another way so that I didn't come back very frequent. My way is to use the product 'Teeth Master Control for Genesis 8 Male', restart DAZ, then select Hitoshi, go to Shaping pane, in Mouth - Real World - Teeth TMC, at the Lower or Upper, adjust i.e. the Central Incisor and Lateral Incisor's Left or Right Growing and Width, the lost front teeth growing back, two side teeth is in the same way.
Daz directory confusionThe first issue I see in your setup is that you have nested content directories: both "C:/Daz 3d/Appplications/Data/DAZ 3d" and "C:/Daz 3d/Applications/Data/Daz 3D/My Daz 3D Library" are listed as DS content directories, and that can cause problems.
What do you have in "C:/Daz 3d/Appplications/Data/DAZ 3d"?Secondly, it seems you used several different installation tools to instal the same content multiple times (G8 starter essentials and the G8 morphs, for example)
- C:/Daz 3d/Applications/Data/Daz 3D/My Daz 3D Library looks like the default path used by Daz Central
- C:/Users/Public/Documents/My Daz 3D Library is the default one used by DIM
- E:/Daz3d/My Daz Connect Library would be for content you install via Connect (directly from within DS)
Since items are installed multiple times it's wasting space and there are likely old versions of some products in one directory and updated versions in another.
For the record, if a product is installed both via Connect and via DIM, the Connect version will be the one used, so if you updated the DIM version DS likely will ignore the update.
Morphs are a special case: DS will look in all content directories listed and load all morphs it can find (not sure how it handles finding multiple versions of the same morph though).
Another thing you should know is that Connect can't install plugins, and complex script products often don't work properly when installed via Connect. So for scripts and plugins it's recommended to useRRRR - The Lyrics - Render Contest *CLOSED*Tag Rafa#1 Pull #1

The script does not require administrator rights, nothing in Daz Studio itseklf does 9and indeed, the application wil fail to run if you try to start it with admin rights). Have you updated the Default Resources package on the problem machine, assuming you are using DS 4.22?
How can I update the Default Resources package? I'm having the same issue where when I double-click it nothing happens, but I'm not sure how to update it. I can't find it anywhere in install manager, and even if I click the update button in the smart content section for the Default Resources it just seems to refresh it instead.
How are you installing your products?
I used to use Daz Central, or whatever it was called, before they canned it. I'm mainly using either Install Manager now or I'm just installing products manually. Side issue, but I have like 200+ files that all want to be installed in IM and I'm worried it'll just create duplicates since most of these assets were already installed using Daz Central.
The Connect install managerIf by "separate install manager with different interface" you mean Daz Central, AFAIK it isn't available anymore.
Content installed with Connect (ie directly from DS) will always be installed in the "Daz Connect content directory" setup in DS preferences. You can change that directory in preferences if needed.
If you have installed a product via Connect and via DIM then DS will use the Connect version. If you want it to use the version DIM installed you need to uninstall the Connect version.

In all honesty I have seen house front doors dressed the same way for Christmas. It is hard to think of it as lingerie, just a misplaced christmas decoration.
I reckon the 'burbs model is a lot of stuff for your money: https://www.daz3d.com/the-suburbs. It's a scene that needs a bit of dressing, but there is lots of it and from the view of someone unfamiliar with US suburbs, looks very real. Possibly the road surface needs a few drain covers and patches (could be done by Iray decals), but there is a lot of work in it..
Regards,
Richard.
I was just thinking I saw a Pinterest of someone doing that to the cupboard doors in their kitchen...
Definitely liking the suburbs. While the utility access covers would be nice, I actually like that it's not super detailed as far as the little stuff. It means you can add your own according to how much would be appropriate for your image. There are decal packs for that, for example:
https://www.daz3d.com/road-markings-and-potholes--decals-for-daz-studio
and
https://www.daz3d.com/road-features-stains-cracks-and-seams-decals <-- this one has something that would pass for an access cover.
As far as it being real for US suburbs, it totally depends on the suburb. For around here (suburbs of Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota), it reminds me of ones I think were built in the 40's/50's.... definitely predates the 70's when this area of town went up, or any construction styles that came after it. Reminds me somewhat of my grandparents' neighborhood (central-ish Wisconsin), which was new construction in the 50's. I think it could also pass for one of the residential areas in Minneapolis, if it's not one of the ones with all the converted Victorians.
Regardless, it's a nice addition to the store. We have so many specifically downtown city scenes to choose from (not complaining!) but settlings like this are sparse. If all my tokens hadn't expired I might've even considered splurging on it today.
Daz Studio and LinuxAt the risk of giving away my age, my professional life pretty much tracked the rise of desktop computing, then the Internet, followed by mobile and the cloud. Looking back, these trends traced the evolution of the x86_64-Windows PC duopoly, then x86_64 in data centers, and ARM on mobile devices. (More or less, as far as the major computing platforms are concerned.) Understandably, most consumers may not be aware that Linux has pulled ahead of Windows OS. Today crucial parts of the Internet are pretty much built on it; sticking strickly to the OS kernel, Linux lies at the core of Android. Working behind the scenes, Linux hasn't been the face of computing that many consumers interact with.
In no way am I reviving the flame wars of the 90s and early 2000s. Windows is the predominant OS, thanks to tech and market dynamics. But going forward we're entering an era when computing will also be shaped by geopolitical rivarly. I'm talking about China, it's rise as a hardware and software powerhouse, and it's drive towards technological independence.
Reading the tea leaves, my guess is that China will break off from the proprietary x86_64 and Arm chips; instead it will build its own hardware architecture around open source RISC-V or the like. And the OS it fosters won't be Windows or Android or Mac; instead it will be another Linux variant. To muscle it's own consumer systems countrywide -- trending a billion and over users, by industry estimates -- it won't rely on free market, but rather on central government directive. So Linux afictionados, look to the Far East. Odds are, the future lies there.
(Personally, I'm pinning my hopes on RedOX, a newbie, another UNIX-like OS but written with Rust.)
And what does this all mean to Daz3D? Hard to say for certain. Will it eventually evolve into a cloud application, leveraging some sort of Web Assembly stack that accesses the local GPU? If so then it may become OS agnostic, from the consumer's POV, running in the web browser. But if it stays tied to desktop OS, then any rise in use of Linux -- propelled by China -- may motivate Daz3D to establish a stronger footprint there.
As of today, I'm content with the way things are. I ditched Windows more than a year ago for Ubuntu Linux variants. Thanks to generous folks in this thread, I've got Daz3D running in Bottles/Wine. I'm not agitating for anything and happy to see the future unfold in its own way.
Cheers!
The futile search for Genesis 9 Male clothesIn our local small Mall in Kent (50 miles from central London) the security guard is there just to keep the peace and act as a 'body to do things'. He has a radio into the local shop radio net to report presence of known shoplifters to other shop holders, lock up, answer shopper questions and help old ladies. No torch, or visible weapon because he simply doesn't need one. He does wear a dark jacket with 'Security' embroidered on it and a peaked cap, that and his waistline, are the most imposing things about him. Anything worse than bad language or drunk & disorderly is rare - it's stopped by early intervention to deflect it long before it gets out of hand.
Probably the most difficult person to handle in the mall as a little, elderly lady who talks 'AT' (not 'to') everyone who comes near her in the mall and takes zero notice of any responses, keeping talking AT her victim until they can escape from the mall entirely. The security guard has an indifferent level of success in stopping her from emptying the mall, because she ignores everything he says too.

Richard
the future and artists, redundancy?I would find the objections by some in Hollywood more persuasive if they had not given multiple academy awards to Forrest Gump, and nominated Zelig for multiple academy awards - two movies which not only used earlier footage, but made the incorporation of previous footage central to the movie. Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid? One could argue that those examples are different because they got permission to use some footage, and other footage was public domain. To which I reply, exactly. Exactly. I agree and go way out of my way to make sure I am using materials for which I have permission, or are in the public domain, or otherwise compliant (fair use...). I do not feel shamed when people who themselves are in large part responsible for our rules for the relevant copyright (Motion Picture Association and their lobbyists) complain that I use public domain material. To the charge that my efforts will never be better than slop - guilty. My lack of skill is not going to stop me, which makes it no different than 3D. To the charge that people should not spam anyone, including the family of Robin Williams and other actors, I agree wholeheartedly. I won't do that.

She looks fairly well done to me. I won't buy her now but probably will in the near future. And I like her bundles too. Completely underwhelming in quantity, granted, but each product looks to be of a good quality.
Samesy. I can get that, although when I first saw her my first thought was "we've not had a character like that before", based purely on her bone/face shape. Age, ethnicity, bundle content, I can understand that, althoughAubrey looks Eastern European/Slavic to me, which does feel like a diversification from my perspective, but I get it, she's still another flavour of white.
My desire for diversity, in case anyone is listening, is for more men, preferably never been inside a gym. And for South Americans of non-European descent and Central Africans. I don't really care about whether someone is 20 or 30, which is much the same. People in their 40's and 50's please.
Where's the sexy librarian trope? I see a promo on her character page with a pen that's suggestive. Personally don't see the need for legs at the bar. Not seeing/feeling a sexualisation theme, though. Have I missed something obvious?

Question about Wearable Presets - Answered, thanks. As a bit of fun for halloween I'm thinking of doing a neck/temple bolt to go through the neck/temple (obviously). The thing consists of a spacer tube the diameter of an M20 washer (37mm) and nut/bolt.
One thing I'd like to do is make sure that when the nut/bolt is invisible it's possible to see right through the central hole in the spacer - and through the character's neck/temple.
If I were to hide the neck/temple facets prior to saving the bolt as a wearable preset, would that get through to the character next time I/anybodyelse use the wearable preset? If not.. could someone make a suggestion? I could add in an opacity map through LIE - but it's not something I know how to add as part of a wearable.
Any thoughts?
Regards,
Richard
