cable and cords + morph presets
Sickleyields constrictor https://www.daz3d.com/the-constrictor chains etc do in a pinch with a bit of retexturing and can be used with the transfer utility on very segmented cylinders too
Soft body physics possible now?Well after doing a bit more research it looks like Blender can export to a format called MDD (which, as I understand it, is just a series of morphs). Is there anyway to read this file into Daz?
There has to be a way to load a morph animation chain from Blender into Daz... it would open up SO many possibilities...
Does Aynone Have the FaceGen Artist Pro? If so...I've found that the better quality and bigger the original image, the better the face. Also I always try to make two faces. One using just the front image and one with the front and side. Depending on the images used and shape of the face, sometimes one made with a single image can be better. Also if you create a few heads with different images that still do not look quite right, load in the one with the best texture and then you can start to blend between the two heads the in facegen the save and export the result.
For something like an alien , if it is based on a character, I would create a morph of the actor or person, then dial in an alien morph in Daz Studio. This means that for something like the Na'vi you can create different characters with just one Na'vi morph. Facegen was created for human proportioned faces and isn't really the create at cartoon or alien ones. I think there are some free base Na'vi morphs for some of the older figures on Sharecg eg "Pandora Princess" the could be convert for use on Genesis figures

3rd Annual It's Raining Men Contest - Discussion Thread10. Female morphs are not allowed in this competition including, but not limited to, the use of such products as GenX which enable users to apply female morphs onto the male body. We want to concentrate on the male figure. However, scripts that allow artists to swap UVs allowing female skins to be used on the male figure WILL BE ALLOWED as no morphing is involved and UV swapping is a pretty common occurrence for most of us.
I find this a bit confusing textures are ok but morphs aren't, morph swapping is also a 'pretty common occurrence for most of us' has been since GenX arrived, I don't often swap textures, female texture on males are to me usually pretty obvious whereas morphs not so much a elf ear from a female is just an elf ear same with most morphs whereas a texture there are in particular cetain areas that are pretty much 'Female'. I would like to understand better your rationalisation on this decesion as to me it seems a bit bias - either both should be usable or neither.
@ Scorpio One of the major reasons to allow the textures and not the morphs, is that textures are a more of a material thing and isn't considered in the judging for the Re-Purposed category. However, the morphs aren't allowed as the purpose of the contest is to be more creative with how a participant uses a female item. The whole reason this contest was started was to celebrate our 3D men in their own right. Allowing those digital men to 'borrow' some female morphs kind of spoils the whole fun and spirit of this contest. We want our digital men to be able to stand proud with as little help from the females as possible. I hope this explains our stance on this particular rule. Thank you.
Also, if we have Skin Builder 3, we can create a new skin just for our male character(s). But SB3 only works with G3F, so we need to create those textures for G3F and then use UV Swap to put them on G3M, (or G8M.) If "female" textures weren't allowed, we wouldn't be able to use SB3 to create our own. Here's an example of an SB3 skin on a male from the SB3 contest last summer. (There were actually quite a few. This one is mine.)
and a good example of why female morphs aren't allowed is this one, a centaur I did before the female centaur was released.
Legacy UVs for Genesis 8: Victoria 4 can't apply texturesThanks everyone, I'm a dork! Marley said she was duf if I did a search in windows but must not have been really. I did as you all suggested and saved as material presets and it now works! It was frustrating there for a while. Now to figure out morphs and I'm set :-) Thanks to everyone who weighed in!!
@jenniferhughey Morphs will be more difficult to transfer. There is GenX2 by Dimension3D, but the farthest you can go is V4/M4 to G3F/G3M. Unforunately, both Draagonstorm, around Christmas time last year, and Dimension3D over the summer this year, have both passed away. There is a method floating around on the forums somewhere to convert morphs from G3 to G8, so you'd need GenX2 to go from V4 to G3, and then use the forum method to take that from G3 to G8.
If it helps at all, G8 can use G3 skin textures based on the base maps right out of the box ( other G3 variants can be used on G8 with the use of Redzstudio's UV packs https://www.daz3d.com/redzstudio ), so if you're just starting out, as tempting as all of the older stuff may be, it may be easier to stick with G3 and G8 for now if you want to use the latest tech. Characters for both figures already come in all duf formats, so no material conversion would be necessary.
Also, Marley would not be duf at all. Maddelirium is primarily a Poser content creator, and Poser cannot handle duf out of the box as it's a DS format. Unless her (Maddelirium) characters specifically state that it's for a Genesis figure, it's a safe bet that they're in Poser format, and will require shader tweaking if the materials are transferred.
cable and cords + morph presetsyes it would be nice if you could grab one end and form the morph by dragging it here and there
But let's be modest: various presets would do though
Daz to Maya questioni'm also interested by this product. But there is really thin info about it in the description. Not video demo, no picture example of renders (mray), no accurate description of transfers limitations (material, files, etc...). Please, enlighten us about your product which semms for me awsome.
also, What's about the transfer to iray for maya? (which is free, contrary to iray+)
Everything transfer over fine. Here are some sample renders of some characters I am developing for a project. 3 of these were rendered in Maya and 3 were rendered in Daz. Can you tell which is which?
well, my guess: 2, 3, 6 were maya?
could you tell us?
Daz to Maya questionSomebody mentioned the face rigs on G3 and G8 characters. The bones (joints) transfer over just fine and they work, but there are no controls. You will have to make your own face rig controls.
Daz to Maya questionThe skin weights are the same maps that were on the Daz rig. Very good, I might add. I spend the better part of a month learning to rig, using various autoriggers and I haven't been able to get better maps than the Daz ones. The morphs were a WIP when I bought the plugin. Now, I can import head morphs to use as blendshapes. I don't know what the final product does but by looking at the script, it is possible to import any morphs you have installed in your runtime. Be warned, there is no way to select which morphs will transfer. They will all come and if you have a great many, you may run out of ram and be unable to go from Daz to Maya. I need to talk to the developer and find out if this issue is resolved.

Do all the weight maps and morphs come through to Maya?

Any hooved options for G3F beyond Fawna?https://www.daz3d.com/hfs-fantasy-shapes-for-genesis-3-female-s - DarioFish's Fantasy Shapes for G3F have a hooved leg morph that's pretty great. He also has the Faunus for Genesis over at Rendo, which you could transfer with GenX2 (and it transfers fairly well, too).
Thanks Finlaena. This looks like exactly what I need!

How to save the body morph as a shape preset without the head and vise versa? Here's a couple threads: (I am not reading them, just linking them. There may be some overlap. Be sure and note the dates, and if in doubt, use the most recent.)

Interactive License? In regards to Indie/Pro license, I just wanted to add this from a previous post by one of the DAZ guys: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/2890791/#Comment_2890791
I'm curious as to how already purchased Indie/Pro licenses will transfer over to this new model. I mean, some customers bought them to cover past and future releases by a DAZ or a specific PA.
Forgive me for keeping details to a minimum, as I don't want to steal the thunder from things. But I will say that:
1- The changes will be much more clearly laid out as to what they mean (I agree with the points that many have made that it should be spelled out more clearly than it has historically.)
2- Indie and Pro Licenses already owned will continue for current and future products, so that those who made those purchases will get the value they expected to get when they made the purchase.
Does this cover 3D printing now?
You still need to be patient. Daz is working on part 5 of their EULA, that covers 3D printing.
It was already discussed in:
That's somebody else doing the 3d printing for you. Not allowing you to do the 3d printing yourself. These are two different things. Addendum 5 of the new new EULA, however, refers to 3d printing in genberal, but does not give a specific price yet. Although there may already be something in the store, it's the forums I check first each day. :D
Section 1 covers your own 3D printing for private use... Section 5 covers the 3D printing for Commercial use, i.e. if you want to sell your 3D prints.3rd Annual It's Raining Men Contest - Discussion Thread10. I Am So Tired But There's So Much To Do Complaint Thread....Chrome for me doesn't play well with some sites I frequent which is why I use FF, and as I don't have (and never will use) W10, Edge is out. I'd also have to redo all my passwords that are still saved in FF which I'm really not up to as they won't transfer over (and it is still a reasonably healthy colection due to my involvement as a "concerned citizen"). I'll give the FF version a go and see how that works.
