I have installed DAZ 4.5, but I CANNOT get Michael 4 to install!WolfmanJack1959 said:I assume that's where the primary program goes automatically, as does every other program I install. All content goes into the documents folder, just as always. I had no problems with the previous build, but this one is buggy as can be. I'm wondering if perhaps Michael 4 might be incompatible with 4.5?
Michael 4 will definitely work in DS 4.5, so that is not the problem.
Like all figures prior to Genesis, it is in Poser Format, and that is where you should be looking for it.
All content for DS4.5 is installed into the My Library folder, both DS and Poser content, but the install path must END with My Library, and not any sub-folder of it (like Runtime or Content for example)
If you do that, the in the Content Library tab inside DS4.5, you will find M4 in Poser Formats > My Library > DAZ People.New Daz User - Help needednamelessme said:One oddity I noticed is that there is some data in my documents section too. If not, are older versions of those models available for free in the store? Was there any extra content present in 4.0, that's not in 4.5?Those would either be the M4 and V4 Shapes for Genesis or the Autofit clones. The content in Genesis Starter Essentials includes everything that was in the 4.0 default content.
Daz Newbie QuestionsYou can use Poser "content" in Daz Studio, to a degree.
brief history ..
Poser was built ,.. Daz3D developed "Content" for use in poser. ... years passed and different versions of poser were released and the software changed owners.
Daz3D continued to develop figures and content for poser.Daz Studio1 was developed, Daz Still developed content for Poser, which also worked in Daz Studio.
with the release of Poser 9, and Daz Studio 4, some things changed,. technical stuff,. and there were some differences between the two programs which meant that some items didn't work.
Daz have just released an importer for poser to get around much of that, but some NEW poser figures are still an issue in Daz studio.
generally speaking Daz Studio can work with Poser content and vice versa,. some things are specific to each program.
things built specifically for DS, only work in DS and vice -versa.can I get the early models of Michael and Victoria anywhere? Some older models have been locked away in the "vault" .. So, you'd be better with generation 3 and 4 figures
( Victoria 3, Michael 3, / Victoria 4, Michael 4)
since they're more refined than the original Mike and Vicky. You can also buy the "iconic" shapes for genesis,. which allows you to easily adjust the genesis figure to look like a generation 3 or 4 figure. same body and face shape, and the clothing for those figures will also work using auto-fit.
There are no stupid questions... just simple answers. :)
New Daz User - Help neededThanks for all the replies.
I haven't had a chance to update to 4.5 yet, but did a bit more digging into my installed 4.0.
Content is there, but it's simply not in Smart Content. I tried a couple of the things others have mentioned in similar threads to get it working, but it didn't help. Anyway, it does appear to be a problem with the CMS working, or in this case, not working.
One oddity I noticed is that there is some data in my documents section too. I found a Michael 4 and Victoria 4 .dsf file buried away there. Is that simply parameter data, I assume? Just wondering if older versions of Michael/Victoria are in this bundle. If not, are older versions of those models available for free in the store? And if I upgrade to Daz 4.5, do I need to also upgrade Bryce to 7.5 and Hexagon too? I got the older freebie bundle (Bryce 7.1)... figured if I got them all at the same time, they'd all be compatible and play nice together. I have the installed bryce/daz plugin too. I hope I don't have to uninstall all of them, redownload all of them, reinstall all again... just to get them all working together properly.
M4 Army Combat Uniform NOT WORKINGseboulba1 said:Hi everyone,Once again, it's a nightmare.
I've just bought M4 Army Combat Uniform.
But, it's just impossible to apply to Michael 4 in DAZ. Nothing happens…
I've tried with Poser2012, find the way to the content, and so on…I'm getting bored of that. I'm sorry having no time to just searching solutions to get my things working well.
I did the 4.5 update and now, I can't find Michael or Victoria anymore !
Please anyone has a good way to use this application ?
I take it that you are looking in Poser Formats > My Library > Figures inside the Content Library tab for these items? That is assuming you installed to the default location. The DAZ Studio Formats will only display native DAZ Studio files, like DS, DSA, DSE etc etc.
Daz Newbie QuestionsHi. I've only had DAZ for a few weeks, but so far I've picked it up pretty easily. The greatest hurdle has been the lack of official documentation for DAZ Studio 4 - it's hard to learn a tool without adequate tutorials. There are some video tuts available on Youtube, but I've found the people here at the forums much more helpful - and they're always willing to answer questions. :)
Anyway, to your questions:
1) Yes, DAZ should be enough to get going, enough to learn the basics at least. I believe it comes with Genesis and Genesis Essentials, which is a customizable figure and a few outfits and props to go with it.
2) I don't think there's a single list - it all depends on which version of DAZ you download.
3) Like I said, DAZ's greatest hurdle is the lack of written tutorials online. The second largest hurdle is figuring out where everything is inside the program - what panels control what effects, where to find the content you want, and so on. Use the forums here - absolutely invaluable help to be had.
4) Renderosity has some free stuff, but by and large ShareCG has the largest selection I know of for freebies. Be careful - often you'll download something that ends up needing another product (often a paid product) to work. But DAZ can use Poser content, which opens up a tremendous wealth of freebies. Check the General Freepository subforum here - that will point you in many directions.
5) As a noob, all I know about Bryce and Hexagon is that those programs make the models that we can use in DAZ. Auto-Fit can take older outfits for previous figures (Victoria 4 and Michael 4) and fit them to the Genesis figure - I think. Haven't had much luck with it so far, so you'd probably be better off asking a more experienced user.
Lastly, I wish you the best of luck. I'm having a blast so far, but it's a lot to learn on a pretty steep curve. Try not to get discouraged. Definitely use the resources here in the forums. And have fun! :)
M4 Army Combat Uniform NOT WORKINGAs stated above, you are applying textures to M4, the clothing should be located in

The 2 Michael 4's you find are the regular and one with Morphs++ attached. This is normal for most installs.M4 Army Combat Uniform NOT WORKINGHi everyone,
Once again, it's a nightmare.
I've just bought M4 Army Combat Uniform.
But, it's just impossible to apply to Michael 4 in DAZ. Nothing happens…

Imposible to obtain good resultAs I show you, the 1st frame that I can render at 4 level has this:
Scene Geometry :
Total Vertices : 737727
Total Triangles : 94544
Total Quads : 668098
Total Faces : 762642Well, I have other scene width Michael 4 and a flight swit. All from DAZ content. The question is that only this combination have 246.000 faces. Put 3 pilots together and you will be out of limits. Or add a vehicle, a background, a second person and you will be again in the limits. This not seems to me very serious.
Kendall, yes. Shure that there is a lot of faces that can be deleted. But there are a lot of them that had to be putted to force to DAZ to understand surfaces that were perfectly in Hexagon, but not well displayed later by DAZ. Other part are an effort to make a model that can be used for very nearly takes too, and of course the rest are my own mistakes.
The question is that I am very, very, very tired to solve problems since June, to arrive to a no exit way. I will not redesign all... for memory limits... or from my point of view, software limits.
What machine will I need and what OS to render this in quality 4 ? I have a server with W2008, perfect to avoid memory limits, but it's funny. Daz does not can be used into. Seriously. I will buy it.
I send you the only scene that I can render at this moment. No mountains, no sky, no surfaces. no pilot, no seat, no cupule, no tails, no flames, no, no, no, no.... nothing.

why cant daz just stick with the old "if it aint broke don't fix it" I've had nothing but trouble since genesis.
For the same reason we don't still ride around town in horse and buggies and women now have the right to vote...things change and progress..
There were bugs when the "good old products" were released too I'm sure. Just be patient and things'll get sorted out. Change can be a pain, but it's both necessary and inevitable.
I said nothing about not needing a v5 or m5
but always be cautius about progress, they replaced rockets with the space shuttle & then talked about replacing the space shuttle with rockets, is that progess or a dead end, Neil Armstrong had more than a few comments about it

Postwork Photoshop CS 5Portfolio Cover
Ok, this one have nothing to do with DAZ Studio it's just my new portfolio cover.
I'm still trying to improve my photoshop skill so I made this picture.

Trouble with loading M4 Morph++I have been trying to load the Michael 4 Morph++ into Poser 9. It keeps telling me to put it somewhere else. A place I don't know where is. Here is a pic of what it says. Maybe one of the Poser users know what it is talking about.
Michael 4 Morph ++Does anyone remember if the Michael 4 Morph ++ ever come in a bundle? Or what was it's numbers that was listed in front of it's name?
Question About Poser 9 and Michael 4Do I need to load the Power loader to use Michael 4 in Poser 9?
Question About Poser 9 and Michael 4When loading Michael 4 into Poser 9, do I need to load the Power Loader? I wasn't sure if they go into Poser or not. Thanks for any help.
Content Manager "No Selection"Well, after trying nearly every setting in Daz Studio and comparing each between Michael 4 and Victoria 4 to see what was different, I found my solution. Here it is, in case anyone else has the same problem:
I had to load Michael (or anything else with this problem) into the scene and select him. Then in the context menu I chose Edit:Set Default Compatibility Bases. In the Compatibility Root box, I clicked on the elipse (...) beside the box and chose Generation 4/Michael 4 from the bases listed. Hit accept, then accept again.
Then, in the same context menu, choose Edit:Scene Identification. Make sure the Compatibility Base (last item) is the same as what you set in the previous step (Generation 4/Michael 4). Click Accept and that's it. Well, almost. You have to close the figure (delete from scene) and reload it into the scene, but from now on, it works!:-)
