Morph Splitter
That's because Daz restricts import/export of HD morphs. Its not a failing of the product, its because of Daz policy. The product looks amazing. It does something I've been wanting to do for a long time. Have you created characters in Hexagon and saved them as a single morph by mistake? This saves the day. And the ability to isolate any (non HD) shape is beyond what I wanted. I would have been fairly happy just being able to separate heads and bodies, but you can isolate just a nose, or eyes, or legs, whatever. There are so many uses for this product.Does it work with HD morphs too?
No, it doesn't, according to the product page notes section...
That is the main thing that is keeping me from a purchase right now. I have become very invested in HD morphs and can't imagine not using them now since this addon doesn't support them, especially at this price point. The main reason I want this addon is for 3 characters I want to use that didn't come with seperate body and head morphs. All the other advertised uses really don't pertain to me and my workflow, so i am having a hard time justifying spending this much for my limited use, hmmmmmm...................
Was it just me or....One problem I have with the Daz male characters is they tend to have a rather effete, soft quality to them. Where are the Steve McQueen's, the Joe Manganiello's, the Bruce Willis'? This isn't something where just morphing always helps, as a skin that is too 'soft' often looks rather that way no matter how you morph the figure.
Would you describe Ivan 7 or Edward 8 as effete?
I can't comment on Edward, since I don't have him, but Ivan 7 is actually more in the ballpark of what I'm looking for, although it would be nice to have some younger, but still more traditionally macho, guys.

Yes! This is what I have tried to convey. The base characters by and large are just too feminine for me. I want Conan the Barbarian for a change.

Shape Splitter - Divide, Combine and Save (The new version is already available. 1.2.1)[Commercial]I have been wanting to transfer my character that was created from several morphs in Genesis3 to Genesis8. Is this possible?
I started out using base morph of Cathy but tweaked it to make her look a bit more original to the premade character in Genesis 3.
Can I replicate the model in Genesis 8?
This product doesn't transfer morphs between generations. It's mainly for singling out parts of morphs to be saved and used on other characters and in combination with other morphs. It's pretty awesome - the limit is that it's within a generation though, not going across generations. I think coding something like that would be pretty difficult.
Thanks for the clarification.

Was it just me or....I had disappointing luck with the Cayman work-around. I know it *does* work, since I've seen images posted of the results. But the first time I tried to use it, it flatly refused to behave itself. Could not get the base skin and the skin on the geografts to render the same. The experience doesn't make be eager for a rematch.
Consequently, that puts me in the market for G3 and later skins, because, as active as vendors have been since G3 first dropped, there are a lot of things where I need a skin of a specific type and haven't got one. Just lately I needed a freckled redheaded male. There are a few skins with freckes here, but I didn't see one on a store search which had z*prominent* freckles, or that boiled pink skintone which redheads so oftern have.
I did see a number of good redhead skins for females. But if there's a way to get a G3F skin onto G3M I don't know it.
You just need this product: https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-3-uv-swap-male-and-female-base
Then you can use G3F skins on G3M and vice versa. It does not let you use the special UV skins on G3M, for example V7 skin, you would need to use map transfer to transfer that into a G3F skin first.
I know Genesis means beginning but...Question:
What products does one need for GenX to use on Genesis 1-3? I have no idea what exactly I need ;) All I really want is to transfer maybe from the Generation 4 characters on up.
Genesis Generation X2, GenX2 Addon for Genesis 2 and GenX2 Addon for Genesis 3, right?
Laurie
Yeah, you need these three to go from V4 and G1 to G3:
https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-generation-x2
https://www.daz3d.com/genx2-addon-for-genesis-2
https://www.daz3d.com/genx2-addon-for-genesis-3
I believe they'll need to be installed into the same content Library as the characters that you want to transfer.

Morph SplitterI am very impressed.
Cyclops is a very elaborate morph, and was able to pull out the face (through materials) and work it nicely with a standard body. The XYZ adjustment is CRUCIAL for this sort of thing. Kudos!
hahah Creepy and cool! I Like it! Thank you for sharing your work! I hope others do as well. :)
I know Genesis means beginning but...I think what many may be overlooking here is the casual hobbyist user. The type of person who for different reasons, looks for ease of use before anything else. It is quite a task to just learn Daz Studio, it is whole different deal to learn different programs like Hexagon or Blender or whatever. Not to mention potentially expensive as some programs can be hundreds of dollars. A person who has a full time job, a job that requires them to work outside the home, and has a family to spend time with and support; has a very limited space of time to play around with something like Daz Studio. So telling such a person they need to learn to create their own content is pretty harsh.
To this kind of casual user, older models really are dated. Yes, they can still use old content, but finding new content for older models is rare. Conversion tools do cost money, like GenX, the texture converters, and so on. There is always a new Fit Control, and so on. Autofit sometimes works, sometimes not. If this person invested deeply into Genesis 1, they have a right to feel bummed about Genesis 2 or 3 or 8. In My Opinion the 2 year cycle is silly, and I feel that it is more about making something "new" than providing real innovation. Otherwise this cycle would not function like clockwork. Every single person in this thread believes that Genesis 9 will be launching sometime around July 2019 or near that time. That is how predictable this cycle has become. I do not believe this is a good thing in the long term. At some point you will reach a saturation that will become a real problem. 3D art is not like cars, and it is not like Call of Duty or sports video games (which releases a new version every year.)
Obviously Daz needs to make money, but I don't see how that means they must release a new figure every 2 years. As long as they offer compelling content, they can do good business. Good content will sell, regardless of this cycle. And personally, I believe they could sell even more by staying within their base for about 3 years or so and focusing on a stronger and more compelling upgrade. I also think that if there are compatibility issues, Daz needs to work in house on the products needed to help make them so, instead of relying on vendors for that. GenX has been a staple product for Daz, and many were looking forward to a Genesis 8 update. But sadly its creator passed away. And it is doubly sad that this plugin will never see an update. Now Daz has a problem, as now people will be more hesitant to upgrade to Genesis 9 when it comes without some form of shaping transfer in place.
Shape Splitter - Divide, Combine and Save (The new version is already available. 1.2.1)[Commercial]When trying to do a split morph I add the vertical cutting plane and then choose the morph but it seems to be applying it to the entire face :/
It may be due to smoothing, you can try to decrease it (5 %-40% aprox.).
Also moved the plane slightly(left or right), to generate my promo main. The 10 cm smoothing is too much for the face.
G3 to G8, eyelashes on wrong place, how to fix?I decided to take a stab at converting some of my G3 figures to G8 and thought it went great until I realized the eylashes were not in the correct place. I read about enabling autofollow on the morph itself so I enabled that by locating the morph in parameters/morph loader, edit mode, enable auto follow, but the eyelashes did not correct (I also set teh eyelashes to autofollow rather than redirect transforms, still nothing). Then I read that maybe I need to save the morph as a morph asset and reload it, so I tried to do that but I cannot find any saved morph asset after I do that, so I cannot figure out how to reload it. I am saving it to the same location as usual, a My Library folder where all my personal presets etc are, but when I save the morph as an asset it is as if nothing is happening as far as I can tell, there is no morph asset folder, there is no files loose in the library folder where the save dialogue is pointing, a manual browse to that location shows nothing nor in the daz content library for that location. I assume I am overlooking something but I have no idea what, any step by step, how to save my morph as a morph asset that I can then find and reload would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Was it just me or....I'm a huge morph/kitbasher and am even getting into sculpting my own stuff.
But it's nice to have stuff to add to the 'genepool'; it can speed up or inspire creation, and the other really big part is having more skins to work with. Some of the skins lately are AMAZINGLY high quality.
Saphirewild's Randomness RendersI rather like the black and white version of the car render. All three look good but for some reason, I'm drawn to the black and white.
As far as modelling goes, what I've discovered is that if you can find which program its easiest for you to figure out the interface and get started, if you work on that for a bit, the other programs become less...intimidating. The knowledge does transfer over very well. I personally find Carrara to be the easiest to model in so far.
@IceDragonArt Well I have tried Blender but it was wayyy too complicated for me, so now I am giving Hexagon a go and I am finding it much easier the blender for sure for right now anyway.
I am just begining to dive into modeling so it is going to be a while before I do post anything. I have so much to learn with Hexagon and also with BlackSmith 6.
