Finally had achance to sit down with carrara
Dragonfolk - had to use the daz studio plugin to get them into carrara , a character called grim, the spheres on the ground qwere replicated then turned into reall instances so I could move them, lots of lighting via caustics,
two fogs and some background gemoetry made with an online programe by Andrew Marsh Polyhedra Generator (andrewmarsh.com) - he has a few things worth looking at
the big sphere behind the two grims is reflecting the sky

Another great image to add to your long catalog of great images.

Not sure why you needed DS to load Dragonfolk. I think it is basically uses Millennium Dragon 1?
I'm also impressed that you got the dorky flame prop to look so artistic. :) Awesome overall lighting, reflections, esthetics, and a very creative use of the Polyhedra plugin you mentioned.
Thanks for reminding us what happens when you use your full power as an artist. I am way more inspired by this than I am inspired by push-button AI.
Exporting Morphed OBJ's from VWD - How ToHi,
Always had trouble with this. I would try to export a VWD morphed piece of eg cloth and when I bought the OBJ back to Carrara it would be the unmorphed Item.
With 3d Printing etce becoming more affordable I revisited the technique.
So method is as :
1) do VWD sim.
2) Select the VWD object you have just made.
3) go to model room select morphs
4) select frame 1
5) edit
6) then save
it will save it as a car file an dalso saves the mrphed object
Hope this helps someone

CMS Content Management service installs with DS AFAIK, or at least DIM I really don't know but Carrara uses it for duf, D|S doesn't need to be open but I do always open it first on a new install and import all the metadata to populate the smart content and that seems to help in Carrara even if I don't use smart content there.
I consider DAZ studio a useful Carrara plugin and it really doesn't take up much space.
I finally broke down and installed Daz Studio Pro 4.2. Not (yet) to get DUF files into Carrara, but just to render a product that comes in DS and Poser format. Neither Poser nor Carrara gave the great quality of renders in the product samples, e.g. the "ELITE" glass sign above the revolving door (see attached). As always, I floundered around in DS, new to me, but finally got it to do some great renders. The bad news is it took Iray to do it, about 60 to 90 minutes for a 1280x720 image. (!) Not gonna do any animations at that rate, but backgrounds for Carrara animations look promising.
Thanks Wendy et al.
As a Carrara plugin it does have it's uses !!!

I started off doing a Carrara dragon animation but got distracted by Deepdream Generator
is not an entry so OK
@WendyLuvsCatz - you have been doing beautiful work lately. Another shining carrara talent! I saw somewhere about one of those programs (ten dollars a month one) a chap extrapoleted geiger like image into a 3d model - maybe you posted the video - so much fun so little time

Thanks for the comments on my toonish dragon, Bunyip and Headwax.
Andrew, sending positive vibes to your family.
Enter the Dragon!
Bruce Lee seems like an obvious subject. Simple scene with Genesis 2 Lee 6 and one of the Carrara hairs from the from 5 times a lady product. I used the 3D paint tool to create opacity maps to try to get the red markings.
Here is an interesting article on the making of Enter the Dragon. https://www.slashfilm.com/791736/bruce-lees-enter-the-dragon-wasnt-inspired-by-other-kung-fu-movies/

@Diomede - classic!!! brilliant lighting as well as pose ;)

err I mean never cease to amaze - characters with character!
Daz3d VR Studio?if only Octane render was fully integrated,
I literally can move around sets using the old Carrara OR4 plugin with a spherical lens and side by side stereoscopic viwports using my 980ti
which suggests it's more than possible
I sadly don't own a headset to find out if I can feed it there
maybe D|S5 with Filament
Carrara Sale Email Message Alert threadI got a message from Daz about free 3D printing licenses for all items owned before 22 july, offer until 30 sept. I started with Carrara 8.5 Pro, DS and Bryce, since they all include lots of 3D models. The the Pro bundles and then I gave up... So much clicking...3D printing license (Carrara users)3drendero said:
Yeah it gets weird in Carrara, if you start out with V4 and do some minor geometry modification, is it still V4 and does it still need a 3D print license? Then you can import V8 in Carrara with major modifications, is it still really V8 with a license need?
Yes, the license terms apply however much you may modify the model.
Carrara Sale Email Message Alert thread70% off old items in the shop today, includes most Carrara items, for example GRID for render farm work. /Edit, thank you for the freebie render. Maybe a new trend?3D printing license (Carrara users)Can you a license for DS or Carrara only?
