Wacky Modelling ~ In Carrara ~
no bull, the Comm games have started
so I got my Carrara cube and modelled a cow ... ooops a bull

Sagan: A DAZ Studio to Blender Alembic ExporterHope you don't give up, this program is super useful even for its tiny file size compared to obj. Like I said, exporting the materials at all isn't really necessary if this program is intended to work with Diffeomorphic as manually linking materials is easy in Blender, its only a problem if you have to do it one at a time. But the ability to export animations is great!
I really wish DAZ would just abandon DAZ to Blender and just work with you and Diffeomorphic. Sure, Sagan is a little buggy- but it functions in the first place and the bugs are actually minor.
I do know that DAZ has a tendency to buy up software and then stop supporting it, which I'm not happy with either as a former Carrara user.
In happier news- apparently your plugin is recognized by the people over on Blender's stack overflow, I found out when I mentioned it in a kind of tutorial and the editor went through and linked to here. Folks are aware of what you're doing and do care.
Yes, I'm figuring on how to make that tutorial for you, I'm just wondering if a lesson on material linking and organizing should be part of it.

it's open beta now but I use all my free goes in one day

only credit card for subscription sadly not Paypal
but that might be a good thing as I will need to actually make an effort to buy a prepaid toppable card not linked to my bank account
so keep rethinking

I was surprised about the Paypal. Hopefully someday.
I did the basic 10$ sub... I think that might be enough once the newness wears off.
Right now, barely enough. I don't consider it art, per se.
But it is fascinating.

One of the 5 Cinque Terre villages.LOL I have that second one for Unreal Engine and possibly have also rendered it in DAZ but more likely Carrara, cannot recall
video
Carrara Community Art Gallery - Show us your Renders!!!video inspired by some MidJourney ai renders I have seen on Facebook but done using Carrara
with Deepdream style transfer and EbSynth video transfer on right
recovering daz assetsif you still have your old PC then copy over the Poser Runtimes to the new one and tell Carrara where it is... that's what I would do.

Carrara still works
I'll second that statement. I use it daily.
recovering daz assetsI guess that you are looking for DAZ DIM, to install all the daz content you own. Then run Daz Studio to load and export your items. Carrara still works and is also installed with DIM. https://www.daz3d.com/install-manager-infoCARRARA CHALLENGE #63: There be Dragons..... WIPBunyip02 said:

thanx ~
Maybe not what you're looking for, but I use "Particle Illusion" which has a free standalone version (I use the not free plugin version in Vegas):
Here is an example from an old 48 Hour Contest video "Be Mine" (explosion @ ~ 5:00):
_ Alright then , will check-into this _ Good Explostion , Thanx ,

ed3D sounds like a fun render you have in mind !!!
_ while looking at web , saw an thing where they had a illustration of those bombs often seen in TV shows & Movies
and decided to make one with Blenders 2.79B _ not sure of thickness of fuse Thanx
Making progress, will be interesting to see how this scene pans out !!!
well , thanx
recovering daz assetshello everyone!! glad to see that the carrara community is still going strong!
now, i use mostly carrara to install the positions of my characters, before finishing them in zbrush; on my old computer, i had poser, which was only used to install in the "runtime", and then i opened in carrara; i changed computer, the disk of poser is god knows where! ... is there a way to reconstitute this work flow, with daz studio, thus using it only as a "stock"... I don't know it at all, as a program, although I worked for a long time with carrara...; thanks for your help!!!CARRARA CHALLENGE #63: There be Dragons..... WIPDiomede said:
Thanks for the comments on my toonish dragon, Bunyip and Headwax.
Andrew, sending positive vibes to your family.
Enter the Dragon!
Bruce Lee seems like an obvious subject. Simple scene with Genesis 2 Lee 6 and one of the Carrara hairs from the from 5 times a lady product. I used the 3D paint tool to create opacity maps to try to get the red markings.
Here is an interesting article on the making of Enter the Dragon. https://www.slashfilm.com/791736/bruce-lees-enter-the-dragon-wasnt-inspired-by-other-kung-fu-movies/

me and me mates with some girls used to frequent the local drive-in ( gone now ) when we were in our teens to watch Bruce Lee movies... including Enter the Dragon
during half time the lads would be jumping all over the cars doing their kung fu moves.... cars were pretty tough back then

great render to bring back some old forgotten memories

well I just found one (duf props) that stuffs up Carrara though it loads in the scene outliner
I have found a few that won't load. Also a problem with some figures after converting to blended weight the skeletons/rigging refuse to work in Carrara.
Normally resort to obj export/import for those ones....
converted all the figures to props inD|S and saved a scene subset which works
Nice work around !!!

CARRARA CHALLENGE #63: There be Dragons..... WIPSteveK - love the example. Thanks for posting the fire vid.
ed3D - good modeling on the bomb. Hard to say about fuse thickness with just the bomb as reference. I think it depends on relation to other objects in the scene. Is the bomb itself big or small relative to a human hand? I'd say it looks great as is, but if you scale the bomb up the fuse might look too big next to another object. Looking forward to the project.
UB - it is not you. it DID get a lot warmer in here. That is a hot one.

Bunyip - always enjoy seeing people get great art from the older figures. M3 enjoys his pet wyvern, and it appears mutual.
Wendy - I like the blue color palette. I will have to check deepdream out.
Syezza - I want to collect all the Carrara cards. How many will there be?
