Oops that hurts! Happens to all of us at least once.

Good thing is now you know how to do it so it should take you less time to redo it hopefully (is there a temp folder for Hex where you might recover some of your work?).

Can't wait to see your entry(ies) to the Raining Men Contest! I liked so much last year's. I may do one too.

I suppose it looks like I've been MIA, but I've actually been working on my first entry for the It's Raining Men contest. It's been coming along nicely. Until today. I'm adding supporting cast to the scene and the one old guy is wearing a backpack. I tried the rucksack from the Army unifrom product, but couldn't get it to fit a skinny old man not wearing a jacket. I moved on to Luthbel's WWII uniform for an older backpack. That at least has morphs for no jacket. Still no love for the old skinny guy. So I saved everything and went to bed.

Got up today and brought the backpack into Hexagon, (along with the shirt the old man is wearing as a guide,) and spent almost the entire day making those darned straps fit the character. I was nearly finished when Hexagon had had enough and simply closed on me. Of course I hadn't saved the file. I was only creating a morph after all… (stupid, stupid, stupid!)

    So… How was your day?

  • Show Us Your Iray Renders. Part VII

This one is rather odd, and hasn't got the creative composition of a lot of the other stuff here, but it's an experiment I'm reasonably pleased with.
For a while, I've wanted my in-development contemporary fantasy to have a take on the "orc" race that wasn't just green people with underbites. "Boaris" offered an interesting alternative (as I think I can swing "orc" coming from the same route as "porcine" as a reasonable alternative etymology) without being too far astray from the Tolkienian concept, but he's only available as a male, and has a very heavy default body shape.
To use him as the basis for that idea, I had to see how well the shape could be transferred to G3F and have that body shape modified. It took some cleaning up of the tusks in Blender to get the morph to transfer properly and then a lot of spinning morph dials, but I eventually got someone that I felt was a reasonable proof of concept. (Currently provisionally named "Lena").

  • Trying to morph the freebie Body Pillow [Solved]

Gonna be really annoying here and say 'It works for me' in Blender (2.80).  Not all that helpful I'm afraid.

Just followed the usual procedure, made sure to keep vertex order and not accidentally apply a subdiv modifier or anything like that.  Did a silly little edit, exported with keep vertex order checked, imported in Morph Loader Pro.  Could you have exported something else as well by mistake, either from DS or from Blender?

I will say it made Blender 2.80 lag horribly, which is very odd but could be something to do with 2.80 not being tweaked for performance much.  2.79 may have done better. It's got only 139,510 quads, which should be a doddle, though is waaay more than an item like this should ever have/need (more than 10 times more than G8F!).  I can only suggest you check it has that many quads when you get it into Blender, and only that many at the point you export it.

Could you share your export/import settings (both DAZ and Blender)? Sorry, I know that's a pain and will understand if you don't have the time. I had to switch off Polygroups because it crashes 2.8.

  • Animation perfect in FBX Viewer, but shaky in DAZ3D Animate.

I have even used Transfer Rigging (Target Space), and the original Genesis 2 Female has perfectly the same pose.

It's just that crazy lerp / jump in the animation that drives me crazy.

I have no idea where this might still come from.

  • Trying to morph the freebie Body Pillow [Solved]

I "purchased" the freebie Body Pillow (which is still free as of just now) and it lacks any morphs. No problem, I thought - I'll just export it to Blender and add a few morphs as I do with many other props and clothing. However, this one does not want to play nice. I've checked all my export/import settings and they work for other objects but this one refuses to work with Morph Loader Pro. I just get a Geometry Changed error even though I have made sure that Keep Vertex Order is checked.

The geometry does look intense, however - millions of what look like squares but are so tightly packed, I'm not sure. The prop itself has only Base resolution available so there's no HD or subdivision. A real pity because I could find lots of uses for this prop (and its non-holiday price will be $10).

I've tried in Hexagon and the bridge does work but I am not experienced with Hex and can't figure a way to work with smooth shading - as soon as I select the object with the Tweak Tool it is covered with a bright blue surface mesh which makes it impossible to see what I'm working with or what effects the tool is having. Trying to select different shading (such as Smooth Solid) has no effect with the Tweak tool selected.

  • Does Slinky Suit 2 clothing have an option to not morph the G8F's body?

Does this outfit have the option to conform it without injecting morphs into G8F's base body? I don't want the skin to hang out like that at the top of the pants.

Basically, can you disable the HD convexity morphs, yet still have the pants look right?

  • Morphs sometimes don't work correctly

    Thank you Richard.
Yes, I've enabled 'keep vertex order' by default. I did the whole model again and exported a control morph every few steps. It caused the same error after symmetrizing the vertex (in edit mode) sometimes, especially when I've selected the whole mesh. but not always. now my workaround is to do test exports before symmetrizing parts of the vertex.

  • How do giftcards work?

Actually, what 3Ddreamer said is the way to do it, except you must manually transfer or convert the amount of your gift card to a store credit in your account - it won't happen automatically. If you don't know how to do that, it really is pretty simple. Go into your account, click on the Gift Cards icon, then enter the gift card code that you received by email into the space provided, then click on REDEEM GIFT CARD. The amount should now appear under Store Credit.

  • Morphs sometimes don't work correctly

    Hey!

I did lots of morphs till now. especially with full body morphs I sometimes have the problem, that the vertices move in strange directions. i do my morphs in blender. when i do test exports in small steps it works for normal so I can't figure out what's the point I do wrong. Does anyone has the same problem and a solution?
    thank you!

  • Content won't install (IM, Connect Offline, manual download tried)

    Hello!

I used Daz Studio in its 4.6 version at the latest and coming back, it's now 4.10, I am lost at the ways to install content now. Between Daz Connect, Daz Installer, and manual download, I'm trying all three methods, but some of my products still won't install.

Joint a picture of what goes wrong.

The same goes for those products:

    • Back to class school props poser CF
    • Measure Metrics
    • Michael 4 genitalia
    • Surface Mask Creator DS
    • Victoria 4.2 Morph ++ StudioCF
    • Victoria 4.2 base
    • Michael 4 base puppeteer StudioCF

Could anyone tell me if there is something wrong with those products, please?

  • Aged for M4 only showing "Hands"

Check for them in the Content LIbrary, Poser Content, Poses. Not the Morph sliders. M4 is old technology, and certain morphs need to be "activated" by "injection" first. You do that by selecting the 'inj' icon from the Content Library (NOT Smart Content!!!!) and double-click on it whith the character selected.

I can't find it, Bee.   The Poses tab just has....poses, no morphs.

Odd that the "Hands" morph appear, but not the "Aging"?

  • Carrara Rain Storm - Free to Carrara Users - beta released (updated)

StormCreek was more challenging to understand than I thought going in.  It is a faily complex scene, with a lot of elements. Very Dartanbeck-esque.

One file  - stormcreekwithshaders - would not load.  Not sure what it is supposed to do.

The main file loads fine.  But I immediately discovered that it is very sluggish.  I attempt to rotate the scene by moving the mouse, and two seconds later, the scene begins to move.  Why is it so slow?  The render time is very slow as well.  Is it the surface replicators?  The Carrara hair plants?  Maybe my processor isn't powerful enough?  I tried selecting different elements in the file, but nothing seemed to help.  Note - I didn't try any of the synchronize camera stuff.

The splashes file loaded easily, and was relativey easy to position on the water.  I raised it a bit too high on the following render, but that is easy to correct.

In the render below, all I added was the tree to the preexisting elements in the scene, and some GMIC.  The render is not meant to be great art, but to show that the product works as advertised.  HW, nicely done!  Excellent effect, really nice morph package for the rain effect, and a very interesting terrain.  I need to figure out how to save out the rain and splashes so I can use them on other scenes.

This will get a lot of use, thanks!

Hey Ub great stuff! Terrific with the tree. Thanks for that feedback.

Argh, sorry it is slow, if you select the surface replicators they have 'mesh' selected in what they show (over on right)

Just choose 'points' or 'none' and that should speed up the scene.

It renders pretty fast on my machine. (I hate slow renders) If I get a slowly rendering scene I usually delete all the lights - then just add one or two and see if that helps.

I tried to make it at fast scene so none of the lights should have soft shadows etc. I opted for replicated meshes rather than transmapping the rain on a plain so I could add morphs to the rain drops. Maybe you could delete the replicated clouds I used for 'atmopshere' and that would speed up the renders?

As for the rain by itself I thought I loaded it up seperately - sorry. I'll reupload it tonight or tomorrow.

    regards from oz :)

thanks to everyone who has tried this ! very happy seeing the resulting renders.

  • Converting Genesis (G1, G2, G3, G8) backwards to Version 4 (M4, V4, D4)?

There seems to be more compatability between V4 and G1, and to a lesser (slightly?) extent G2; so the best way to start is from G1.

G1 has (at least mine does) the Victoria 4 shape, hidden.

Dial this in (may need to set parameters) and export as an obj (base resolution) and you can use it as morph target for Genesis shapes; there is a tutorial somewhere. I know G8 has the genesis figures, but don't recall if the Victoria 4 is also available - Im thinking not; if not transfer to Genesis then to V4; it isn't a complicated process, except that for earlier figures with less compatability of vertices, more tweaking may be required.

The most time-consuming part of the pre-process (if not available) is poses for the figures that match that of the target.

    Edit:

I've not transferred backwards, only from G3 to G8 and some G2 to G8. G2 normally takes longer when that tweakage is required.

Sorry about the dodgy writing. Genesis with V4 shape applied; G8F with Genesis shape applied.

I looked, Victoria 4 is not available on G8F

  • Do Genesis 8 Female morph packages overlap?

I don't think theer's any complete overlap, but there's nothing to stop people making their own take of the same gernal idea and giving it much the same name. There shouldn't be much of that with the main head adn Body morphs since most people who buy morph packs will hae those.

  • Celebrity Look-a-Likes for 3D figures Part 2

RY Kian is definitely Adam Driver. The figure can even be rendered with the scar as Kylo Ren (on the opposite side of the face, though). I wish Raiya would do a Daisy Ridley look-alike.

    Best Regards,

    Learstang

Same.I'm still amazed no one has done a decent Daisy Ridley. Would buy fast.

I'm presuming you don't like the look of SW Rey or SW Rey Resistance for G3F (or V4) at FoRender? (Different clothes and hair in the two sets, but both include a Rey head morph and materials and textures.)
