  • Old Generation Character Lists

IIRC Stephanie 1 and Victoria 2 included a version of the figure whose body was shaped like Posette, the Poser 4 woman, so that they could use her clothes. Michael 2 probably had an equivalent for the Dork (P4 man).

After that there was no compatibility at all between the two lines of figures.

The Poser G2 line was during the V4/M4 days.

  • Old Generation Character Lists

hello, I was trying to find either a wiki or something on the forms about what the older generations and what characters where in the different generations. for some reason it never occured to me that I can use Victoria 3 or Aiko 3 skins with Steph 3 same with poses and hair. I have some old poser content like Sydney 2 can victoria 1 materials work on that or can Sydney 1 materials  work on Victoria 1. I dont know what is in each generation to maybe try and cross bread some content I have for one to another. thanks in advance I tried searching the forms for any kind of list but no luck and the wiki didnt really have the links.

All content in the Daz Store allows the commercial use of renders, the only partial exception is the old Anne Marie Goddard Digitial Clone for Victoria 3.

What sort of comic - SF, superhero? What style of art, do you go for detail or a smoother look, western or Manga or something else?

  • Lost and Found - Fix?

I find this super annoying to try and deal with I bought Stephanie 3 base and instead of putting in in character it was set to lost and found which I feel is a misteak on daz3d part. I am trying to catorgize some stuff for victoria 4 and it refuses to get rid of the defult catogery to be lost of and found. I dont want anything in the lost and found folder I feel like if the person who is selling items on the store should catogrize this stuff better. I could send support tickets but pretty much daz support doesnt care as I have submitted this kind of stuff in the past.

  • Celebrity Look-a-Likes for 3D figures part 3

Walerie for G8F by MagicMaiden: I know this looks like some well known celebrity, but I can't place the name just now.  Anyone else out there knows?

    https://www.renderosity.com/rr/mod/bcs/walerie-for-genesis-8-female/152022/

On the Ellen Ripley/Weaver thing (don't know how to quote, every time I try it messes up):  Yeah, now they are under the name Ion, and he has bundled it with a Facehugger now (really leaning into the 'Alien' nature of this morph, huh)?

I already have a couple of Sigourney morphs (one for Poser/Victoria 4, one for Daz/Genesis 8), as well as a 'Facehugger', and I don't think the character or bundle is worth it just for those ridiculously small undies she wore (and the 15 year old in my can't forget......damn, I'm old.......^_^)

    It's only for aiko 4

In that case, there are converter utilities you can try, though you might need to convert it from Aiko 4 to Victoria 4, since I'm not sure if the RSSY Generation 4 converters will work on Aiko 4 directly.

Otherwise, you could try something like this:

Goldie Locks Bundle | Daz 3D

    and apply a leather shader.

  • New user - Need some clarification regarding anatomical elements.

Hello all. I hope I picked the right place to post this question.

I am very new to the Daz3D software and am trying to get a good base library established for charachter creations. After puchasing some lower priced figures I have realized that they do not contain the actual anatomical element modeling. I have been reading posts on this forum to try and determine what the best option is regarding a base model or set of models and the Michael and Victoria figures seem to be the go to. Now beyond this is where all of the information starts to run together on me.

I read where it will say in a character description if it has the anatomical elements. I assume the actual modeling is listed as "anatomical element presets". Is that correct? Several threads have mentioned one must buy a pro bundle or theme bundle. The Pro Bundles are very obvious in the store but I'm assuming the theme bundle would be like the Michael 8.1 Varsity Bundle or Victoria Loving Life Bundle. Is that the correct assumption?

When I read the description for the Michael 8.1 and Victoria 8.1 figures they both list "Anatomical elements material presets" in their features. Does that mean these have the 3D modeling for those features? They are not listed as a pro bundle but they are the latest 8.1 figures. I didn't know if that had changed witht he new models.

The last question that I have is since the new 8.1 figures come with both male and female elements is it neccesary to buy both figures? I ask all of this because I am trying to determine the most economical approach to accomplish a starting library.

Any clarifications on these questions would greatly be appreciated.

  • Is there a way or product to convert Genesis 8 clothing to V4?

you just need to get the clothes the same shape as V4

dialing in clones found under hidden are the easiest way to do that

there is a product by Sickleyield for V4 clothes on G8 too I don't have that would have a hidden clone
    https://www.daz3d.com/sy-victoria-4-and-michael-4-clones-for-genesis-8

you are basically using it in reverse

I tried Victoria 8 with your settings and it looks way off for me when compared to rec709. It would need to be converted automatically during shader compiling. It's too tedious to do it manually... I wouldn't convert all those OOT hair textures in that picture IMO.

Oh yeah it's 100% tedious, I'm just too curious xD

Here result with Victoria 8, seems a bit off/more warmer too. Possible I do something wrong.

I had similar results, the converted textures are more gray to green color and the renders are darker. What I think  is that transmitted and SSS colors are not tuned to the spectral rendering. The skin transillumination distances look correct, but as you can see the color is orange with aces, for me with a bit of a green undertone, skin and ears mainly. I would assume the SSS light would be going from red to white, depending on the light intensity, and not from orange to white as in acescg. So maybe it needs to be adjusted in range +- 0.05 - 0.1 both Transmitted and SSS color. I would supress green color first.

It seems like the Metamixer add-ons are basically like buying only the head morph for that particular character - no body morph and no textures. Not a bad deal if you're a PC+ member and like a particular face shape.

For Victoria 8 is one of the Metamixer shapes, I own the product already and I imagine many others do as well, on looking on the store page it isn't free for those who already own the original character base product..

Yeah that I'm not sure about yet. Maybe the base characters will also get updated to include Metamixer presets for those who bought them. We need to give this a little bit of time to get straightened out.

Uh-oh. You made me realize that I missed a very important point - the body shape. Maybe further add-ons for what's below the neck in the future... ??

    Couple of things:

    - Don't worry about having to buy the HD morphs over again, I cannot imagine they would ask that. They'll just update them to included presets for Metamixer and you'll have to download them again. We might have to buy the actual presets for the characters, but they'll probably be pretty cheap.

    - You don't need to use Filament to use Metamixer. In the example screencap below, I just have the basic preview on with gray surface settings (not the Metamixer one, it's too reflective). You won't be able to see the little character icons in the three circles if you don't use Filament (or Iray), but it's not a huge deal. I would also use a basic light HDRI rather than the three colored spotlights for both speed and visibility.

    - To make things easier, try doing what I did here: make a new workspace tab by customizing Studio's interface, give Powerpose a very large panel, and then save G8M and G8F scenes that are all set up with the Metamixer interface. You'll be able to load them in, switch to your Metamixer tab, and quickly get started.

Unfortunately for the base characters, you have to pay for the Metamixer updates.. For Victoria 8 is one of the Metamixer shapes, I own the product already and I imagine many others do as well, on looking on the store page it isn't free for those who already own the original character base product..

Yeah this, skin textures were created without spectral rendering in mind. I highly doubt someone will be using it when you need to convert 500+ textures in a big scenes and there's no way Daz is gonna convert them and provide updated materials. Currently it's as nice as it is unuseable.

Well you can still use rec709 for spectral tho. I think color correction could be done (or not) within the shader. And one more for Hdri if any I guess. If anything it might be also possible (or not) to batch convert via script and auto-remap them.

Made a quick test via OCIO, used 'Utility-Linear-sRBG' as source and 'ACES-ACEScg' as output. Only skin is converted (face/arms/torso/lips), used diffuse as trans map. Highlights/black at near 0.

Yes, I have gotten some of those 16 to work fine.

Thanks. This confirms my suspicions that I can't use it on customized Daz folders. **sigh**

What is your expectation of what the HD add-ons actually do?

They do not include the shape of the character head,  only the HD details.  For example, Twosret 8 is one of the 4 bundled add-on's.  The Twosret8 HD is also one of the HD characters that have been updated with MetaMixer support for those who have bought it.  These are 2 separate things.  With both installed, you can add either (or both) to a single MetaMixer slot (A, B, or C) to get the shape, the HD details or both.  If you just have the updated HD add on, you are just adding the fine details (wrinkles, pores and so on) which can be hard to see in the viewport.

The Mixer shapes say they load the figure PLUS the hd addon. If I add one, it acts like it loads, but there is no icon in the corresponding circle and no change at all in the figure's face (I've done quite a few test renders and there is NO change). So far, the only ones that are working for me are the ones that were supplied with the MetaMixer. This leads me to believe I've got to buy something else, which, after having overpaid for the Daz base figure HD's anyway, I'm not willing to do. So I guess I'm uninstalling ;). 75 bases and HD addons I've bought (just for 8 and 8.1) and I'm not buying them twice. It is good for a simple morpher tho, but I can do that in other software more easily. IF there is nothing else to buy, something is not working correctly and since I have custom content folders I can only assume that it's calling files outside the data folder which I have moved and that Studio can't find. At this point, I'm not sure which scenario is the correct one, but I'm pretty certain I know which one. Time will tell.

Take a look at the screenshots I've attached.  I've added just the Victoria 8 HD MetaMixer add-on.  One of the screenshots is with the powerpose widget pulled down so that the HD is not added.  The other is with the widget pulled up to mix in the HD add-on.  For these screenshots, I've increased the figure sub-division to 3, switched the viewport to filament, and applied the gray clay material that comes with MetaMixer.  I think that you can see the difference between the two in the details in the lips and around the eyes.

We will have to wait to see whether the base characters will be updated for free.

I'll check it again after Thanksgiving. I have too much cooking to do. :)
