8.1 Surfaces Detail Enable
I was wondering why some characters have detail enable, specular occlusion, makeup, ect available while others don't. For example, the base 8.1F figure doesn't have any of those options while Victoria 8.1 does.
Is there any way to have those options availabe for any 8.1 character? The Romance of Certain Old Clothes: Historical Outfits Collection8 - New Look / Swinging Sixties / Wild Seventies (1947-1979)

Maybe it's her morph, but I think the skin, brows and ears are from someone else (no idea who): Victoria 9 is in the fifth render, with her skin and brows (there is also Mira 9 in other renders).
Thanks, that's what I thought too (that the morph shape is Victoria 9). I've love to know the skin texture set that 1st couple of renders was taken from.

Guys, thank you for all of your replies!!
What awesome information!
I love Maddelirium products! I have 25 of them!! I am so glad she is here at Daz3D now.
I just tested a couple of V4 products in Daz Studio. One I tested was Mystique, which did turn out pretty good. I attached a comparison. I let each on render a second, but tells a lot!!
I want MDD Pearl for G8F IRAY Only | Daz 3D. She looks like Freddy Mercury! So cute!!
Havos That is facinating! I didn't know you could use morphs and textures on G8F that are for V4. I can do that with G2F with V4 Skins Auto Converter for Genesis 2 Female(s) | Daz 3D and Generation 4 Legacy Shapes for Genesis 2 Female(s) | Daz 3D.
I don't have MDD Kelsey!! I love her! What tools did you use?
Thank you all for helping me!!
I also used Generation X to get the morphs from V4 to G3F, and then X-Transfer to move the G3F morphs to G8F.
To get the V4 textures to G3F UV (which will work on G3 or G8) I used Blacksmith 3D's Texture Transformer, which does a really good job. That is a tool that was once on sale here, then moved to Renderosity, but unfortunately is not available anywhere now. I think the company that sold it has since disbanded, which is a shame as it is the only tool that does this job easily. The only alternative is to use a texture baker like available in Blender, as mentioned above. I can't say anything about that, as I have never used it.
The other alternative is this: https://www.daz3d.com/legacy-uvs-for-genesis-8-victoria-4, with which you can use the V4 skins directly on G8F without converting them to G3 UV.
Is the character in the main promo render Victoria 9?Maybe it's her morph, but I think the skin, brows and ears are from someone else (no idea who): Victoria 9 is in the fifth render, with her skin and brows (there is also Mira 9 in other renders).
Is the character in the main promo render Victoria 9?Hey, is this character (great FeSoul hair product: FE Elegant Updo Hair for Genesis 9 and 8 Female | Daz 3D) in the main promo render Victoria 9, but with makeup from another character? A standalone makeup set? Another character altogether? Or just the normals, displacements and shader materials of another character on Victoria 9?
Thanks!

She seems to have the time of her life :)
I don't know if it could apply to your situation, and you may already know about them, but Weight Mapped Push Modifiers can help a lot to deal with pokethroughs when layering clothes from various products. If you have clothes by Mada, the ones with dForce usually have a WMPM already applied, and there is a tutoriel explaining how to use the ones Mada created (which is used exactly how every other one is used).
ArtCollaboration shared a tutorial about using them (to deform a body), explaining how to create one for items who don't have one already:
I don't remember if she's speaking about hidding clothes with, but it's usually done by placing the push modifier onto the clothes to hide (setting a negative value for that Push Modifier), except when you have to hide them behind something a bit too open ended (like strappy shoes), in this case, it's can be better to place the push modifier onto the clothes on top of the other (with a positive value). And of course, you can use two push modifiers, one on each piece of clothing if needed.

I have a new render, done for 'Llola Lane’s RENDER A MONTH Challenge 2025' with some products bough recently: it is called 'Morning stroll in Tokyo' (but maybe Street of Japan 2 is supposed to be about Kyoto
New products are:

- https://www.daz3d.com/sporty-for-everyday-2 (shirt's textures)
I got the first threes during the poses flash sale, and got the other two a couple of days later because I wanted the base outfit and some textures too :)
I didn't list Victoria's and Lacey's poses, not because it's my own creation (I wish I was able to pull something like that off, maybe one day, in the meantime, as the saying goes, 'for everything else, there's Mastercard'
) but because it's a product by @ParallaxCreates which was recently pulled from the store, so not linkable anymore.Outside of Lacey's arm carrying the umbrella everything is as close as possible to the original poses (made for Victoria 8.1 and Michael 8.1 and G8F / G8M).
A short story:
Victoria and Lacey were enjoying a lovely morning stroll in Tokyo, in the neighbourhood around their hotel.

*sshhhhh*
Taking to heart the advice of someone living in Japan they both followed on Youtube, Lacey carried their umbrella, to protect them from the already hot and aggressive sun.

At the corner of two small streets, they made a pause and ended with Lacey leaning toward Victoria…
*It’s not possib…*
*WE KNOW IT’S A DREAM! You’re supposed to be the rational part among us, you don’t need to be the obnoxious one either. Let us enjoy a happy dream!*
Outside of the dream, in their flat in the US, unaware of the bickering between parts of her brain, Victoria moved a bit in her sleep, snuggling closer to Lacey before jumping right in a new sleep cycle, hoping the dream would resume right after it was stopped.
Llola Lane’s RENDER A MONTH Challenge 2025 (ALL are welcome to join)After a two months hiatus, the idea that was on the back of my brain since mid-april, jumped my brain yesterday (just before I was going to sleep…) and here's my entry for July, straight from the oven: 'Morning stroll in Tokyo'

Hello there,
unfortunately I don't remember what the exact character mix was in these promos. The skin textures are definitely Victoria 9. The head shape is probably Victoria 9 mixed with some other characters.
Hope this helps!
ToyenCharacter/face Identification (Inga Hair model by Toyen)Feels like Victoria 9 to me too.
If you want to ask a question to @Toyen, there is a commercial thread (without any guarantee of a positive answer: in previous case, Toyen didn't remember what was used to create the promo renders).
Character/face Identification (Inga Hair model by Toyen)Victoria 9 I think?
[Solved] I wonder what product these bra and panty are fromHello,
Inspirationless as I am at the moment, I was viewing the promos used for Victoria 8 in her product page in order to gather some ideas about what to render next. And I've really liked the white bra and panty pair that she is wearing in the main promo picture. I wonder if somebody can recognize what product are they from.
EDIT: Actually, I've found out the answer. You see, immediately after I posted this topic, I returned to her product page and then thought about browsing through the products bundled with her. And I've found that this bra and panty pair belongs to this product included in her Pro bundle, which thankfully I already own. :)
G9 WoesBad joint bendings is pretty much self explaining, by looking at G9 femine character joints when posing.
I don't understand, what more to say about it.
The main question is: Does it look like human posing or more like Poser4 Victoria 4 posing?
what does it more look like?G9 WoesMatt_Castle said:

There must be a reason then, why " we're going down that G9 rabbit hole again".
"Beating a dead horse" would count as a reason.
In this respect, I have asked many times what people complaining about G9 actually want. (I usually get ignored).
Looking at the five answers I can actually imagine:
1) Daz should change the G9 base.
Impossible (at least, by any reasonable definition of what is possible). Changing G9 would break any characters or clothing built on it.2) Force vendors to stop using G9 and go back to G8.
Would start a riot, both from those creators who prefer working with G9, and from those users who want G9. And it's not like we're getting no G8 content. We're actually still getting quite a lot more than two years after it was officially superseded.3) Force vendors to develop everything for both G8 and G9.
Would basically double the development work for some products, so prices would have to rise to match. Those vendors who've decided this is viable for them are already doing this. The vendors who didn't want to do this would move to other stores where Daz couldn't force them.4) Bury G9 and create a new G10.
No-one would agree on what they want G10 to be any more than they have G9, except now you'd have people whining about having to buy all the basic generation resources all over again.5) "Give us the HD tools!"
It is extremely clear this is not going to happen. Also, as previously discussed, HD really isn't as useful or necessary as some people think it is. Anyone who could get meaningful use out of the HD tools should already be capable of creating normal maps, displacement maps or geografts to add to the mesh density.I am willing to be amazed by some magnificent solution which I have not already imagined and addressed, but as someone who has a much better technical understanding of this than many, I can assure you that solutions that might seem simple or obvious are far more likely to actually be impossible.
Yes it a dead horse, but dead horse are pretty annoying.
First, the DAZ marketplace becomes pretty much obsolete to me, because it is all abou an inferior figure.
Second the way that the G9 mesh is designed is leading to horrible mesh bendings, and therefor to ugly poses.
The splitting off of Eyey balls, mouth and what ever to be separate figures makes it more complicated than helpful.
The unisex layout requiers more layers of JCMs, so more data.
One layer of JCMs for the core figure, one layer for male and female base and a third layer for the character morph, which almost no vendor want to invest the time for.
The female base looks again like a stylized Barbie, but unlike G8F it semms even harder to correct this with custom sculpting.
It must be difficult for most Vendors as well, because no Vendor seemed to have been able ( or willing) to get rid of this Barbie like body characteristics.
I pretty much have collected everything from this shop, that is useful to me for G8F.
I wish, I could use G9 hair, but restrictions with sbh makes that impossible.
And no, I just cannot accept, that I am restricted from purchasing an HD tool, here, although the formula could be easy.
For sale, but free for vendors.Only environments are left useful to me inthe DAZ shop.
I am stuck here with my character here.
If there was an easy way of migrating my character with geografts, geoshells, MCMs and JCMs to another plattform, I'd be already gone.
I am just thinking, that DAZ Studio will go down the same route as Poser did.
G9 is as horrible to me as Victoria 4 used to be.
G3 is what brought me to DAZ studio, G9 is what gets me away from it.
Fae model [Solved]This all made me feel nostalgic so I dug Victoria 4 out of my runtime, applied the Alice Faerie morph, didn't bother to convert to iray and rendered
