  • Mixing face morphs

    Hi!

I'm just getting into face morph mixing and I'm just looking for some tips - do you ever mix 2 character face morphs at 100% each? Or do they have to add up to 100%? Anything other best practices?

    Thanks!

  • any news on the hd plugin?? :D

will this read the dhdm files?  or will i need to convert to dsf?

    thanks!

None of them. You'll have to export from studio as OBJ.

Or you'll be able to create your own hd morph directly in Carrara.

Do you have many HD content? I have only a few and I'll need help for the tests.

the hd one i'm dreaming of is a horse 2 add-n  requires horse2 at subd lvel of 3.

would be happy to test smiley

  • Where to save a zbrush morph for Genesis 8

    Hi,

I made a custom morph for Genesis 8 for distribution.

I would like to know the proper path to save the morph for distribution.

I know to go to "support assets" morph assets

Do I save it into a lululee folder or do I have to save it into a Daz3d folder.

    Your help is much appreciated.

  • IRAY textures/shaders in Other Render Engines

NO THEY DO NOT. The main issue is that while the iray uber shader can generate pbr materials, that are compatible with most pbr engines, unfortunately it can also generate non-pbr or "specular" materials, that will not transfer to pbr engines. One example of this is specular colors that are not physically possible, yet allowed by iray. Also materials with a high specularity and a high roughness, again not phisically possible, yet allowed by iray.

On the other hand, if you use iray in a "pbr compliant" way, then your materials will transfer fine if they are texture-driven. Unfortunately this is not the case with most daz content in the shop.

    Thanks for that summary

  • Infinity symbol?

I created mine in Hexagon as well..  with circle from center (line of points) and then pushing points a lot. Apply thickness when the line is going where it's supposed to. The morph I made in DS with 8 deformers cause they're easier to control than Hex with what I needed to do.

  • Blendshape the armature too in Blender

While the daz genesis platform automatically adjust the bones following the weight mapped vertices in the mesh, so when you morph the character the bones follow. AFAIK this feature is not supported in blender. Unless there's some plugin I'm not aware of, that's entirely possible.

You can however export a daz morphed character to blender via the diffeomorphic plugin. This way you will also have the "adapted" bones. Though I understand it's not the same.

  • IRAY textures/shaders in Other Render Engines

    How would these be transferred?

For blender there's gltf support that serves the purpose to transfer scenes and characters together with pbr materials. This is also supported by maya, substance painter, unreal engine and unity.

As for daz studio you can export to blender with the diffeomorphic plugin that's quite good converting materials.

  • Genesis 8 Babies

It's nice that Daz is finally making some baby figures. But sorry, this is just my personal opinion - the basic figures are even uglier than the Genesis baby morph, especially the white ones. The black babies still look somewhat cute and babylike. The proportions of both figures are not right again, e.g. the heads are too big and the hands are much too small in relation to the arms. The legs, on the other hand, are too long if you assume that these are newborns. And no newborn baby is so fat. But I agree with cherpenbeck that PA characters often are more realistic than the original figures. E.g. 'Ella' looks much better than the base figure; she's really sweet.

I like babies and I’m sure angel wings at rendo will make a better morph so I bought nearly all the baby content because the price was great. I didn’t buy the male baby just the female one since they kinda look alike to me. Edit oops I did buy him. That will teach me to buy stuff in the middle of the night.

as far as the baby shape, the head is really off for me. Some of the poses are kind of adult-like too but most of the outfits are great. I missed a couple of the outfits, my cart was so full.... and I thought I got them all but missed like 3... which is too bad. The discount was great ala carte

  • Genesis 8 Babies

I actually bought most of the baby content- thanks pas! But for a store that really Focuses on delivering cute they really didn’t do a good job on the head or bod of the baby. The head is very jug shaped and it looks like a small fat adult with Michelin tire arms and legs and I am not sure why they gender split this one. The boy morph doesn’t add anything to the feel of the base shape and since it’s genless one baby would really be enough...but I guess if you want to blend him with other characters... but still make it one character.

fortunately there is baby Rosie at rendo.... who looks more infant like to me. And bonus she can wear Genesis 8 baby’s outfits.

  • RiverSoft Art Second Anniversary Contest WINNERS

Two years ago, I started this amazing journey as a Daz Published Artist.  I had NO IDEA what was coming.  I was hoping that it would be a nice little side project.... Wow.  Was I surprised!  I am so thankful for the support from Daz and especially the support from you, the community.  I never would have believed I would have 71 products in two years, and that I would receive such support.  It has truly been a life changing event.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.  It has been an incredible two years.  I look forward to many more with your support and encouragement.

Now on to what you came here for... the CONTEST WINNERS!!! smiley  The entries were fantastic and made my job so, So, SO very tough.  I want to thank all the contest participants.  You all did a great job, and I appreciate you using my products to make great art! smiley

Winners:  Please PM me with your prize decision.

    People's Choice Winner

@FenixPhoenix  "Bringing Home a Clan Member"

Prize: Now-Crowd Billboards - Modern Life

Thank you to everyone who voted.  There was a clear favorite this year.  @FenixPhoenix won with the majority of the votes.  I really loved this submission as well.  Well done image and well done text.  Congratulations @FenixPhoenix!!!

    RiverSoft Art Products used:

    • Assembly Line Pose Automation Kit + Bone Doctor Pose Control | These products allowed me to transfer my G3 Males poses to the G8 generation. Which is a time saver considering that I have a lot more pose sets from the previous generations. Additionally, being able to save partial poses allowed me to mix and match several poses to get me started. Then I only had to do some tweaking!
    • Clothing Converter from Genesis 3 Male to Genesis 8 Male | The entire wardrobe the character is using is actually a combination of two G3 outfits. I'll link the outfits in the gallery.
    • RSSY Clothing Converter from Genesis 2 Male to Genesis 8 Male | The boots as well as the earring are actually kitbashed from G2 outfits! I'll link the outfits in the gallery.
    • Look At Me Pose Control | Of course, one cannot do a render without using this handy tool. How else would these clan member's eyes meet otherwise?!
    • dForce Magnet | Last but not least... one of the best tools ever... the magnets! I only started playing with them till now, even though I bought them at launch. Though they seemed complicated to use, they were surprisingly easy and intutive! It took some playing with the cape to get things right, but finally, I was able to make it seem as though the dog was biting his cape. A bid of attention with a growl of mistrust. Those who are the hardest to love are usually the ones who need it most.

Inspired by the recently released Landon 8 bundle. "A werewolf meets a little guy on the streets who's having a hard time. In his heart, the moment their eyes crossed, he knew… it was time to bring his clan member home."

Thank you for your wonderful products, @Riversoft Art! I hope I paid a nice tribute, since this image couldn't have been made without the products I mentioned!

    @scorpio "The Street"

Prize: Winner's choice of 1 RiverSoft Art product (where RiverSoft Art is the sole creator of the product)

Obviously, I don't know how to run a contest, as I wanted to give all the entrants a prize.  smiley  The pressure of judging got to me and I decided to add one more prize, Second Place Runner Up winner!   I really liked the image that @scorpio made.  It feels so alive and energetic, compared to a lot of images.  A great use of the Now-Crowd billboard products.  Congratulations @scorpio!

    • Now-Crowd Billboards - Future Life

I used the Now Crowds Billboards - Future Life and Now Crowds Billboards Modern city Life. The bill board figures are the ones mainly in the back furthur down the street, they are so useful I've found for filling up a scene without taxing my computer. I only picked them up recently but will be using them a lot more, when mixed with full figures and lo res figures it should be possible to get a very populated scene, something I've not been able to do in the past without rendering in bits this was rendered in one go the only reason its a small size was time rather than anything else, I did do one version on a larger scale and my Graphics card was able to handle it. But I didn't like the lighting and so wanted to redo it. I meant to render it while I was at work today but forgot to press the render button before I left so have to do it this evening in between getting dinner so it had to be the smaller dimensions.

    Prize: Pose Blender

I really loved this image, just like everyone else.  A strong image with a great story (and a lot of products used).  I especially love that you used the dForce Magnet to make the story even better.  Congratulations @FenixPhoenix!

    First Place Winner

    @LaPetiteVerita  "Moon, Take Thy Flight"

Prize: Winner's choice of 2 RiverSoft Art products (where RiverSoft Art is the sole creator of the product)

It was so hard to choose the winner.  @LaPetiteVerita's "Moon, Take Thy Flight" managed to just barely eke out a win.  It is a fantastic image.  The Striga outfit by @Arki is one of my favorites and the included dForce pose presets make it a breeze to use (but was a bear to make smiley)  @LaPetiteVerita had a very strong combination of breathtaking image and a terrific description of how Pose Blender was used.  Congratulations @LaPetiteVerita!!!

    RiverSoft Art Products Used

    • dForce The Striga Ensemble for Genesis 3 and 8 Female(s)
    • Pose Blender
    • Eye Clock Pose Control

    Description:

I have a love-hate relationship with dForce (although "terrified" is more accurate than "hate"). I love what it can do - it opens up so many new options for artists - and I love looking at all the amazing work people have done using dForce. At the same time, I'm totally intimidated by the mechanics of using dForce, and I'm working on an older laptop that was intended for word processing. It doesn't really get along with dForce. So when I saw the dForce Striga Outfit had hierarchical pose presets that emulated dForce, I snapped it up!

The best part of the preset poses, in my opinion, is that they work really well as a place to start - I'm not just limited to the poses provided. For this piece, I used RiverSoft's Pose Blender to mix the "Looking Back" pose with a walking pose, and I depended quite heavily on the selective pose blender option to mix in some of the other presets as well. The left arm is mixed with the spellcasting preset pose, while the right arm has a little bit of the "sitting" and "standing" poses blended in. I barely needed to use the morph dials to fix the fabric after she was posed. And because I used the pose blender, all the different poses look natural blended together - nothing tries to stick out at odd angles, as often happens when I try to combine partial poses. Pose blender really is my secret weapon - using it is the best trick for keeping posed figures from looking stiff and frozen.

Like, do not get me wrong: I’m happy they’re doing something different for a change and frankly, *age appropriate* little kids clothes and poses are something that’s been sorely missing in the Daz ecosystem. Those, I will support.

The base figures probably could have used more fine tuneing. But OTOH, Genesis 8 does have no shortage of body and face morphs, so if one isn’t lazy, they could attempt to morph these two to something more to their liking.

[...] I guess it's nice that they've finally adressed that nitch for those that wanted it, though, honestly, I've found that the Genesis baby still works just fine when modern shaders are applied. [...]

The Genesis Baby is no longer available though, so that is one of the reasons people have been asking for a new one.

I'm not going to link to it, but there's an OK morph 'baby genesis' on Sharecg....

I have to agree with most of the forum sentiment. The default little guys/girls look no less creepy than Milbaby.

A lot of the clothes and props look excellent, and some of the PA morphs look OK, but the default 'babies' are offputting... I'm having difficulty seeing the potential past Chuckie twins, episode 8.

The Sixus baby I already have (and only Angel Wings Amanda character makes it look cute or worthwhile), 2 Genesis babies and the K4 one for long shots...

Daz aught to have recruited Angel Wings over for this endevour, all her kids are absolutely adorable.......

How would these be transferred? I mean what file format would be used to transfer a scene to Luxcore keeping the shaders intact? Obj doesn't seem to store any info other than opacity, specularity, emissiveness (there may be a few more, but those are the only ones I can think of right now.) I'd like to be able to go from Daz to (Reality/Luxus)Luxcore without having to tweak every material by hand.
