  • Current state of motion blur with Iray?

    With DS 4.22 I see log messages such as these (not sure if they were there in earlier version):

    "motion transforms"? So... are we there yet? Did I miss the big announcement saying that we finally have motion blur support with Iray? If so, then they hid the new feature really well, because I cannot find it.

  • Understanding Daz rotations

    Thanks for the tip … I've installed the C4D Bridge and I'm doing some testing, but I'm still getting rotation errors – I need to learn a little more to understand what's actually going on, but what I'm seeing is that if I change my pose in Daz to anything other than the base pose then I get mis-aligned rotations in C4D even though I select 'fix bone orientations'. The plugin also doesn't seem to fix rotations if you try to import animation.

    Like I say, I still need to learn more about this plugin and about Daz in general, but what I was trying to do was create a few individual poses in Daz on a few frames of the timeline and import them into C4D. I guess I wondered whether Daz could actually export the joints with the same roations I'm seeing within Daz. Maybe I need to change my workflow and just do my posing outside of Daz and in C4D, but that would be a real shame to not be able to take advantage of the great posing tools and ability of Daz.

  • How to restore my Daz3D Smart Content Library after Windows Reset?

    The old database would be in windows.old > users > me > AppData > Roaming > Daz3d > cms > ContentCluster, but if you have already isntalled stuff anew (and, more to the point, saved your own stuff) it may not be worth trying to get it back (if it is just DIM installs you have added you could sacrifice them and then reimport the metadata). Befroe trying to replace the new database with the old make absolutely certain that all applications that use it (Daz Studio, Install manager, Daz Central, carrara) have closed down and are not still running in the background - there are a lot of separate files invovled and you don't want one of them being updated mid way through while others are the older versions. Also, make a copy of the new database first, then delete the actual files, then copy (don't drag, or cut) the old database across - databases are delicate creatures.

That may not work tho as I don't have experience with repairing Daz Connect.

    If you want to continue using both then you'll need help from someone far smarter than me.

    This, thank you this seemed to have worked for me. I have a lot of my content back, if not all of it, in the Smart Content pane.
    I have however, logged on so I can still install new products under the "products" tab of smart content, I double click to install new things, is my preferred method lately.

    Most appreciated, I hope this has solved it. 

    No so it looks like it partially solved it, importing old data from DIM, but not my recent installations...

  • Diffeomorphic DAZ Importer version 1.6.0 released

    Thanks! Another issue just encountered... I imported standard body morphs (spread legs, make hand into fist, shrug etc...) from DAZ to Blender with Diffeo using its own "body morph" tab but only some of the morphs are working. Particularly ALL the basic DAZ morphs related to hands (spread fingers, fist, chop, grab etc...) do not work - some for feet and body do. 

    Any help?

     

    I looked a little bit into this and it seems that when converted to rigify the bones / settings for the hands disappear/don't work anymore hence why the body morph related to hands don't work anymore. I don't know how to fix this :( is it possible? I tried to even import a pose from daz but on the rigify rig doesn't translate (especially the hands like zero)

    Well that's confusing me. DIM shows it's all still installed and still there. For example, I have a pose set that is under C > Users > Public > Documents > My Daz3D Library, and everything is still showing as installed through DIM, but I cannot get it to show this to my Smart Content.
    My installed Daz3D content is also showing in my Content Library Pane as all there. But I was to use the Smart Content pane because it has other small features that I always use, but I do not know how to make this work.

  • DS Format Products That Import To Carrara. Or Not.

    I've had mixed luck with DAZ products in DS format importing to Carrara.  Some work well, maybe without the lights, but certainly useable.  Others don't show any geometry at all.  I dunno why.  This is a first pass, I'll add more as I test. I'm sure someone will point out  what I'm missing, if anything.  Anyway ...

  • Unable to render iray error occurring out of nowhere

    You beat me to the punch. Error I had finally got it all figured out down to some OOT hairs. What exactly happened for them to just break all of a sudden? Any idea if there's a fix or a workaround? It seems to have something to do with that Hudson home directory. Is no such drive or directory or even any dazz content on my D drive on my desktop.. And lastly if any ones actually interested, here's a full  log of that.

    I have yet to buy FG Artist for Genesis 9 but I think following your advice here would be helpful as well as using an image upscale and detail interpolating extrapolating (I guess the details would be actually inferred and extrapolotated from outside data sets) program that takes advantage of nVidia DLSS and current state of the art image processing AI.

  • Any idea about creating corrective morph using Goz ? [Solved]

    I'm trying to use Zbrsh to make  corrective morphs for some extreme pose. Everything works great but the problem is by using Goz, the corrective morph I've created  also includes other morphs. Like if I'm making a corrective morphs for pose A, what I got through Goz is the corrective morphs plus pose A. What I really want is only the  corrective morphs. In traditional work flow(export the obj and edit, then import it back ), these problem can be easily avoid by setting Reverse Deformations  to YES, when import obj as morph. However, this could be messing when using Goz. Goz is definitely time saver for sculping figures and I wonder if there is any way to make the morph creating by Goz  reverse deformations ?

     

    Problem solved, it's nor Goz or Zbrush work flow has problem, just my stupid work, never put your hands on any figure dialed on multiple imported morph.

  • New products not appearing in DAZ Connect

    Are you checking the Update metadata box when logging in? It is off by default, so that people can log in without getting their database entries updated, but that will mean it cannot see any new purchases. (Also, from personal experieince, if you download with DIM to have a backup of the package make sure you didn't absent mindedly have it set to install after download from the last DS update - it took me a while to work out why my purchases were not shwoing in the Install tab, and to realise that they were in the Installed tab in Smart Content.)

  • New products not appearing in DAZ Connect

    In other news, my new buys are not showing up anymore on the install tab in Daz Studio.  I normally install via DAZ Connect, and here it just isn't happening.  Been a problem for about the past week, roughly.  DIM doesn't work for bundles and I'm not manually installing if I can avoid it.  Is this some kind of metadata issue with 4:22?

    The only brush issue with Affinity Photo is that the OLD brush archive format can be a problem.  For those, I had to extract the brush PNGs and create native brushes.  AFAIK, there's no issue with recent PS brush archives and they import fine.

    I've not bought the upgrade to the current version of Affinity Photo, and Serif hasn't sued me.  Then again, Serif is a pretty cool company.

    It is nice to hear that geographs work for you in Iclone 6! Hopeful! As for 3DX6 is that specifically for Genesis 2 characters or is it used to convert all Genesis characters? In other words, if I plan to bring in mostly Genesis 8 and 9 characters to Iclone 8 and Character Creator 4 do I need to buy this? And will I be able to apply Character creator skins and modifications to these imported characters? 

    ..and, if I need to buy these to convert Gen8 and 9, do I need the full 3DXchange 6 Pipeline version or can I do the same with 3DXchange 6 PRO?  

    Now I am noticing a 3DX7 as well and something about it being discontinued and added directly into Iclone 8.

    I am hoping if I wait on buying 3DX7(6) I will not regret it.

    Also a question, Reallusion has a 50% off sale right now.

    Anyone know if the sale may get any better than that on black Friday? (I am poor, and this endeavor is putting me into huge debt.)

    they use their own mesh and convert stuff to it which is no doubt why geografts don't work

    I do believe ther 3DX8? pipeline can still import FBX though and do manual retargetting but I really don't know 

    I cannot afford Reallusion stuff hence being 2 whole versions behind surprise
