The transfer utility hangs at 17%, no matter what my source and destination. Within seconds of starting the utility, DAZ's memory usage shoots to over 7GB. I'm running a high-spec overclocked machine. I'm mostly trying to do various combinations of -

Vicky 4.2 or Michael 4 with exported then imported morphs --> Gen 2 with the V4/M4 clone
V4/M4 current --> Gen 2 with clone
V4/M4 based obj current --> Gen 2 based obj current with near vertices

Obviously I'm trying to force Gen 2 to in some way accept my V4/M4 morphs - I know a couple of ways to do it and I'm hypothesising a couple of others (eg translate to the vertices on a Gen2 obj then import from there), but I can't get the transfer utility to play ball with any of them.

Incidentally, I've only been doing this since last night (after the Daz update). I have used the transfer utility in the past - admittedly on low-polygon items - successfully.

Thoughts?

I got tired of manually changing the UV sets for my Genesis 2 Males and Females, so I made up a set of 10 presets to make it easier. I would like to share them with all of you, if you are interested.

Use these presets to quickly change the UV map of your character without affecting the material settings. All presets work on both male and female figures. Presets for Poser 9+ are included as well, but while testing them, I didn't seem to need to apply them. All materials I tried to apply already set the UVs. So, if you run into a problem using them in Poser, just let me know and I will see what I can do.

Included are Basic Male, Basic Female, Gia, Girl 6, Michael 4, 5 and 6, Victoria 4, 5 and 6.

***Note that you must have these UV sets installed on your system for the presets to work. So if you don't have V6, then the V6 preset won't do anything and may give an error message.

Presets are located in My Library/Presets/UVSetterGen2 for DAZ Studio and Runtime/Libraries/Materials/UVSetterGen2 in Poser. Also, I made metadata for these, so after you install them to your content folder, you will need to reimport metadata and make sure you uncheck everything except this product, which should be located at the bottom of the list. If you don't uncheck everything else, you will be changing all the metadata you have already set up.

Update March 25, 2014:

I just updated my UVSetterGen2 freebie today to include Olympia and Stephanie 6, and also to include the Generation 5 UVs for Genesis 2, which will be released in the DAZ Store later this week (subject to change). These UVs include Aiko 5, Stephanie 5, Hiro 5, Freak 5 and David 5. The Generation 5 UV presets will only change UVs on Genesis 2 and will do nothing when used on Genesis. You must own any of the figures listed for the UV presets to change anything. So, for example, if you do not own Victoria 6, then the V6_UV preset will do nothing and may even give you an error that the Victoria 6.dsf can't be found.

I hope you all find these useful, I know I use them a lot. The presets will apply the selected UV set to either Genesis 2 Male or Genesis 2 Female, regardless of the intended gender of the UV set. So you can put S6 textures on M6 or Jayden, and vice versa.

Please note that the textures for Creature Creator skins for Genesis 2 Female use the Basic Female UVs, so you would want to use the BF_UV preset on Gen2Male to use the Creature Creator textures.

UV Setter for Genesis 2

This is an update to my earlier problem with Faceshop. I spoke with Lazlo@abalonellc today and he walked me thru the entire process.
He was very helpful.

Although I now have a working version of Faceshop I will probably need to get Michael 4 to avoid modifying
the facial points manually.

It works best with either Michael 4 or 5.

Lazlo did provide a workaround by selecting 'Basic Child' as the avatar but I will probably need to read the manual
and see how to fine tune the settings.

After putting a month into recreating Botticelli's masterpiece 'Birth of Venus' in Carrara with Victoria 4 and Michael 4, I discover I cannot submit it to my Daz art gallery due to nudity. I understand that much modern art is distasteful, and some arbitrary standard needs to be drawn to prevent the hated 'slippery slope' of moral decay. On the other hand, the net is rife with depictions of the human form which are contrary to Michelangelo's proposition that God created the human form, and so if drawn with Godly love, there is no shame in it.

As you could well know, later on, far inferior painters appeared who objected to the Sistine chapel in the Vatican, and so covered up the parts they felt offensive with fig leafs. After that, many people found the fig-leaf painters more offensive than the nudity, exploiting naive morality in order to desecrate another's art and moreover draw a stipend for the service

I myself do not consider myself a good enough artist to place fig leafs over a 3D rendition of Botticelli's Venus as yet. But maybe that means it is something I should do if no one else dares to. In the interim I posted my art on my own webserver at:

Are there any artists in the 3D community offering fig-leaf services as yet? I would only want to do so for 3D reproductions of classical masterpieces, and maybe that is a good calling, if no one else is willing. For surely there could not be a more noble cause than reproducing the Sistine Chapel and Botticelli in 3D?

I'll be curious to learn your own opinions of fig-leaf toters in the 21st century :)

I ran the batch file DzCreateExPFiles-M4. It created some morphs in the Michael 4 dir beneath it. The Michael 4 cr2 was not modified by running this file. Then I read,

'Power Loader': Only ExP morph products will have power loader installers. These are only intended for use in Studio.

A clean copy of the M4 cr2 worked fine. Now I have some work to do.

If I recreated this character in DS, using the new Genesis figure, where would I find a dmc file for it?

I made a basic scene with base M4 loaded and nothing else, saved that scene, and every time I try to load that scene Daz3D hangs while it's importing materials then gives a missing files error with a long list of .pz2 files in the /Runtime/Libraries/!DAZ/Michael 4/Deltas folder. I checked for a couple of the files on the list and couldn't find them, what should I do?

First of all, you are putting this onto M4, not Genesis. There are two vesions of this set, one for M4 (Generation 4) and one for Genesis.

The one you screenshot is for Genesis and works perfectly on Genesis but it looks like you are trying to put it on an M4 (Generation 4 character Michael 4), it just wont work.

Use this set on Genesis or use the set for M4 on M4. The M4 mentioned here is for those who used the old one for M4 and now need to have a character looking "the same" but based on Genesis.

It means the Michael 4 shape for Genesis, not the Michael 4 figure.

Roughly guessing the idea came to me about four or five years ago long before Genesis, initial testing was using Michael 4, using the free animation blocks that come with Daz.

The main issue was using these animation blocks but with the Genesis figure, I was aware of the foot offset I wanted a free alternative rather than using the full version of animate 2.

Within the development process a new Daz studio camera and light setup is being used, a core concept in the use of Genesis or the figure of your choice if you have poser content, but most important no license requirement as you are only ever using renders.

The Daz studio camera and light setup has undergone many upgrades since the first draft, commented by, none other than Waldemar Belwon, Dreamlight.

The new system has 2.5d and 2d camera choices.

Unity 3d is my current focus of attention but if your gaming software can use .png images then you can use this same setup.

I am adding this link to the references section- Slosh did an excellent tutorial on how to use Michael 4 Skins Auto Converter For Genesis 2 Males. I still haven't tried it yet.

And yes, I noticed my all time favorite hair Pyrit Hair is now for Genesis 2. :) (It was the very first hair I ever used, on Kaetl with her two baby dragon friends.)

Hi All,
I just purchased the Generation 4 Statues Product to convert my Victoria 4 and Michael 4 figures to statues. It says in the description of the product that it can make a statue out of any Victoria 4 or Michael 4 figure including hair and clothes. I know that these are shaders and I am able to get my Victoria 4 character to look like a statue but no the clothes or hair. When I try it on a Michael 4 figure or any clothes, hair or (genitals for Michael 4) nothing happens. I even applied the shaders and did a quick render thinking that it might show up their but no luck. I am new to doing the shader and have tried other types and I have no luck with them either. Is there some setting that I need to change to get these to work? Any suggestions will be helpful.

I think I have the same problem than quietrob.

I drag and drop Michael 4.cr2 in GenX pane, the transfer starts but nothing appears in Genx pane. And transfer box says "figure not supported".

And I don't register the plugin because I don't have the "Validate GenX option". But it seem working : it appears in green in the Plugins list.

But I never used it. May be I don't understand something about.

That is the message on the transfer box :

GenX - Loading figure: Michael 4
Loading figure file ...
Resolving script calls ...
Figure not supported.

So nothing appears in the GenX pane.

OK, so maybe I'm showing my newbie side by asking this but what is the real difference between Michael 4 - 5 and 6? Is it just the texture resolution?

So if I take a high resolution texture from M6 and apply it to M3 will it essentially make the render as good as M6?

You don't need to save as DUF. Just bring Genesis 1 into the scene, if you have the Michael 4 clone for Genesis 1 just autofit your M4 clothes to Genesis 1 first, then the next step will be to fit the clothes a second time now to Genesis 2 Michael 6 in the same scene. The clothes will just jump from Genesis 1 to Genesis 2 and autofit when you select From Genesis to Michael 6 in the "Fit to" dialogue. Same thing with V4 to V6.

This is a "poor man's way" lol, of course using “Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Male” or the V4 to V6 product would be the best way to do it.
