Maybe. Ds will project any moprh aplied to a figure into the fitted items if they don't already have a morph with the same name (and will set the moprh they do have if it exists). How well that works varies by the clothing and by the shape.

MD can make clothing baggy.  In the example, i think the item became tight/constricting because of the size of the garment vs. the volume of the avatar's body size.  In the example, he also imports the MD object as a morph. You dont have to import the MD clothing as a morph.  You can drape the clothing any way you want in MD and then just import as an OBJ.

    Good to know, thanks.

There is also a youtube video from The WP Guru showing how to use MD to create a simulated morph of Daz clothing exported to MD as OBJ.

Is this cloth supertight by design (not as tight on left pic but still tight enough on right pic)? As one of reasons i'd like to try MD is to go away from DAZ's traditional "conforming clothes is sticked to you", but instead have it layed upon body more freely and more airy. And as i never went past 4.8 i cant use dforce so MD would be my best bet.

you can DL a free 30 Day trial of MD and test some stuff to see how it works.

It's not necessarily a big time investment to get started with MD because you dont have to start out making your own clothing patterns. You have the option of simulating Daz clothing or using existing MD project files.  There are not many MD project file vendors, but you can find a few cheap ones online.  There are a few on artstation, like Evgeniya Petrova, who sell cheap ones.

    hi there!

they are over 10+ g8f female characters available in daz store.  is it true that any conformed cloth (transfer utility)  can fit all of these g8f character body shape perfectly without manual fixing? if not, what method or maybe other product/tool can achieve this...

Just started using Sakura 8 and products in her pro bundle, and in your part 10 thread there was mention of the sleeves on the bomber jacket in Kawaii Infused Outfit for G8F. I can't get the cuffs to wrap around Sakura's wrists, and there are no cuff adjustment morps that I could find that will help. I even tried the "thinner wrist" morph for Sakura 8, but it didn't help. The pose is from the Capsces Poses and Expressions for Sakura 8 and Aiko 8 set. Any suggestions?

Sorry, just getting online.  Did you figure it out, or do you want me to check that for you? Did you go into SCENE as well with the outfit and see if it can be scaled that way?

We've had a LOT of severe thunderstorms rolling through today, and .....drumroll.....I'm buying a SECOND Kakariki!  So Motuihe (Moe- too-ee   aka "Tuey") will have Tokelau (Toe - kah-low  aka "Toca")  as a buddy. The nice things about Kaks is they don't bond to the exclusion of not loving being with their owner. So I'll have Tuey and Toca!   Tokelau is another Maori name for another New Zealand island. I named him that because he lit up when he saw me, and Tokelau is the first "nation" to go 100% solar powered!  (Yep, called a nation, but it's a tiny island! So not as impressive as it sounds.)

It was SO adorable, Matuihe wasn't in the large aquarium, we kept checking leg bands, then one worker who had been helping another customer said she remembered that one had been taken out due to having food stuck inside his mouth. Meanwhile, I had picked up Tokelau THREE times saying how cute he was, just pushing everyone else out of the way to get to our hands and wanting to be picked up. He, too, is very large for a Kakariki, and the same size as Motuihe, so they will be great buddies.  I'm buying him tomorrow, and like Motuihe, he won't be coming home until end of August.

Good news then for your parrots. My Indian Ringnecks, especially the green female Matey, will spend most of the daylight hours perched in and looking out the window so I am going to build them a critter proof outdoor aviary, about 8' H x 8' L x 4' W. Luckily ringnecks can live in climates as cold as the foothills of the Himalayas. My green & yellow ringnecks actually look somewhat similar to the birds in your picture without the small red & blue embellishments.

Thanks Novica. I did try scaling but that didn't help b/c it affects the entire jacket, which is one piece in the Scene tab. Cool birds!

I don't do rigging at all, I just use mdd to simulate what I need. You can import animations to md in mdd format and simulate it, then export as obj sequence, and import it into studio animated. For stills I import an animation that goes from A pose, to the pose I need.

Nice. Any results as examples to see?

Travis Davids has some workflow videos on youtube showing process of using Daz Studio and MD.  E.g.,

  • Attaching wings to arms

but this could apply to any wing set if necessary. . . .  I feel like there has to be a better way of doing things. Any ideas?

https://www.daz3d.com/v4-creature-wings has the wings you're describing, but it's for V4.  Not sure how well it'll transfer to G8M.  There is a 60% off coupon code in the Daz rotating banner right now.

https://www.daz3d.com/ccwings-variety-pack is the texture pack for the wings above.  RawArt has it at 50% off right now.

I know it's not meant to, but I think there's a certain likeness to Keira Knightley here. At the very least it is an excellent base morph to start out if trying to achieve her look, with a few tweaks here and there.

  • FBM vs CTRL morphs...

Some of the Name 8 characters haev a head anda  body morph, and the name 8 slider is a controller driving those. You need to make sure that you are adding the morphs, not teh controllers, to ypour clothing or the morphs will also project in and you will get a double effect.

  • FBM vs CTRL morphs...

So adding in some of the Full Body Morphs FBM's for my clothing.  I'm noticing that when you go into the properties of each morph instead of having FMB there is CTRL.  Now mind you this is for the Core figure shapes like Michael and Darius et all.... not for the more common morphs like Bodybuilder or Heavy.... but it's a question I need answered as I've already done allot of the work but curious if I'm on the WRONG path.  I've been saving out the fit morphs under the CTRL but if that's wrong I need to know now.  If it's an either or and doesn't matter then I'll keep working away.

The clothing morphs I own and am putting into the clothing are: Darius, Michael, Sanjay, Floyd, Lee, The Brute, Edward, Owen and Vladimir as well as some of the regular FBM's.

I do realize that the CTRL combines morphs like the Face, Body and Scale ... I think that using this for clothing will keep the scale part working correctly for the clothing as the G8M is morphed.

    Thoughts? Tips? Tidbits?

    Thank you

  • Searching for this Figure

The only slider that I moved was the Carley head morph, I didnt change anything else. I think there might be some other morphs going on in the renders that you posted though. Some sort of youth morph perhaps? If you have Growing Up for G8F, https://www.daz3d.com/growing-up-for-genesis-8-female-s , what happens if you apply a very low level of the yourth morph to Carley 55%? Also, there is a daz youth morph as well if you dont have growing up, I believe its in the face morph list for G8F. You might try a touch of that as well.

  • Searching for this Figure

Actually, follow-up. You said the Head morph for the Carley model is set to 55%. Is there any other model associated in the dials? For instance, if you load the Carley model Victoria 8 will have a default of 35%. Did you maintain that dial? The reason I am asking is so far I am unable to procure the desired result that you displayed. One of the leading indicators is the lips. The Carley character looks to have thin lips by default, and as such is displayed in your result. However, when I have it loaded from the Character pane it loads in with much fuller lips.

Let me know, but no worries if you moved on from this thread laugh

  • Generation 3 figure morphs?

The morph sets for Luke and Laura the Mil-3 teens were removed from store some years ago (way before I came to Daz end of 2016) and despite several campaigns to bring them back, they are still unavailable (the teens themselves can still be bought though).

If this is part of the same retirement process....

I still use V3/M3 ocassionally, it's always fun to see how much you've learnt about tweaking skin surfaces by trying a realistic render with older figures. They are also great skin surfaces to learn on, much less complicated than the later figures - I started tweaking the Mil-3 surfaces, moved up to the Gen-4s and am currently familiarising myself with the Genesis - nice easy steps following the gradual increased complexity rather than sitting down in front of the latest and having my brain overheat.

It'd be a shame drop half the flexibility given by the morph packs.

These old figures load in a snap, and fit nicely in scene backgrounds. Aiko3 still makes a great robot.

  • First dabblings with Marvelous Designer + DS

This might have been a bit more a complicated project to take on for a first venture for MD, but I usually end up learning a lot more of the process this way.

    I'm using Big George here:

    https://www.daz3d.com/george-for-genesis-8-male along with this outfit,

https://www.daz3d.com/mobster-outfit-for-genesis-3-male-s that I then processed through the G3M to G8M clothing converter

    https://www.daz3d.com/clothing-converter-from-genesis-3-male-to-genesis-8-male.

    and following this vid:

I think my question starts back with Daz though.  With the default load of the clothing, all items get parented to the Gen8 male, which seems fine until you pose. I tried having the Coat fit to the Shirt but still parented to G8M which fixes some spots but causes issues eleswhere. Trying to get it with push and smoothing modifiers was too fiddly as well,; basically it just turns into whack-a-mole.

This will get exported out to FBX in a posed position but not animated, so I can retain the rigging.

But since this isn't a base figure with just one layer of clothing; it's George of course, a shirt, "Bracers", and then the coat, how should I proceed?  Should the Coat be left Parented to G8M and fit to that or a different item as I was trying earlier?  Originally I was going to just hide the bracers, but after my first trial MD fitting, the coat drapes open nicely as it should so they're now well seen. Plus, I suspect George really does need both a belt & suspenders.

In MD though, should I bring in other the shirt &/or bracers as well for the fitting process as in make a custom Avatar or is there another method?

Should I be processing the Shirt & Bracers in MD as well perhaps?

There'll probably be morph specific questions later.

  • Generation 3 figure morphs?

    Howdy folks!

Out of sheer perversity and contrariness I've taken an interest in the Generation 3 figures and accessories that I collected a while back. There is something interesting about those figures to me and I've been wanting to experiment with them. Unfortunately I'm missing a couple of key items, like the Michael 3 Morph Pack and the Aiko 3 Morphing Fantasy Dress for examples, and it seems as if the add-ons for these older figures have disappeared from the store.

My questions are: Where can I go to get the Generation 3 items that have disappeared from the regular store? Can I contact DAZ support and purchase through them or something like that, or are they just gone forever? Were these items removed from the store because they are no longer compatible with the latest version of DAZ Studio?

Any info would be much appreciated!
