Hexagon - DAZ 3D clothes morphs
I just ran into a similar situation creating a custom morph for the Daz Housecat. I think the problem is that when you come back and spawn the morph, Studio is comparing the new mesh shape to the original (non posed) mesh; so it thinks that all that movement of the legs, etc. is part of what you want in your morph. Which is them multiplied when you apply the morph to the dress that has already been moved.
I think the only way to get around it is to create the morph from the zero pose, but I'm new to morphing myself, so I could be missing a step that would let you accomplish what you're trying to do.
Hexagon - DAZ 3D clothes morphsHi,
I have a question. I'm trying to create clothes morph for genesis8 figure. The figure is not in a base position. The figure is in walking position.
I create clothes morph in hexagon and then send it back to DAZ 3D ("send to DAZ studio" option).
The problem is:
Pictures 1,2,3 - clothes morph created in Hexagon and send to DAZ Studio.
Picture 4 - clothes in DAZ Studio without applying morph
Picture 5 - 50% morph apply
Picture 6 % - 100% morph apply
You can see that the morph doesn't look like the created morph in Hexagon. It's rotated and whole clothes is deformed.
What am I missing? Is it even possible to create clothes morph when the clothes is not in base position??
Thank you
m4/vu uvs on g3/g8 without geografts or geoshellsYes it does the same thing as Blender texture baking and projection, Zbrush Zprojection and Ultimate Unwrap 3D repaint to name a few.
Map Transfer in DAZ studio is basically the same thing too but it relies on matching vertices being available for both meshes
I make a COMMISSION offer to any content artist seeing this post - details belowMorning everyone in this conversation and also you wonderful Daz Admins and content artists. First off i want to thank all of you profusely who gave me info and insight on the above. My problem is bc I am a non-professional niece artist and history buff, I often get frustrated in waiting for someone to create the kind of "toys" I like, ie WW1 uniforms, trucks planes etc. Having followed a number of not so fun conversations other folks have had with each other I realized I am also to blame, so I started to do research (which as ALL of you have pointed out is KEY and PARAMOUNT) if you want to get things you like. Recently I had a conversation with Turbosquid and asked them if I bought one of their VERY expensive models ie like a French Renault tank (that would be crewed by Victoria 8, and Lt. Parker heheheh) how the duce would I transfer the thing - They up front told me oh in most cases that won't work - OH GREAT I advised this person, so I buy an expensive British Tank pay on average 200 to 400 bucks then I can't even use it - Wonderful.
Needless to say I politely told him that if you are going to soak an artist for a fair bit of money - MAYBE you execs "In the High Castle" should start working on strategies whereby this product can be transfer (quickly, painlessly and easily) from TS to Daz or Blender or whatever), but I digress. So doing my reseach I of course saw pros and cons in any 3D product. So fair Blender 2.8 is starting to be my new "paramour". Doing simple projects like wells, Lighthouses and even Tanks (Yes there is a neat modern tank tutorial on it). The ease of use plus the HUGE community of support for this product (not to mention ENDLESS instructional vids is incredible) is the thing that clinched this for me, also since I do not at this point do animations, and only static DAZ displays - I am reasonable happy with this product.
Like basic art principles, a British Tank from WW1 is essentially squares and circles, cylinders and the like - RIGHT?! same as a Horse-Drawn Ambulance from that era. So this is my journey of discovery with 3D art. pretty good for a doddering bloke of 60 who roughly 7 years ago wanted to get into 3D, but was deathly terrified of it! I will of course keep you posted how I make out, but before I close I want to AGAIN profusely thank all the content artists who do their best to pitch our ideas to their respective teams and who create the amazing easy to use products of DAZ. Big thank you for those amazing WWII pilot uniforms. Cheers for now gang, and all the best in keeping the world positive with 3D art!
[Released] Clothing Converter from Genesis 3 Female to Genesis 8 Female [Commercial]As a suggestion for improving this, is it possible to add an option that will strip out the figure morphs for the DO base figures?
The FBMVictoria7.dsf morphs and the like that persist after conversion cause conflicts with things like the "Victoria 7 for Victoria 8" products; the latter uses exactly the same name for a morph that's very differently shaped, given it's now shaped as a derivative of the Genesis 8 base figure, so the clothing ends up the wrong shape*, meaning that it's better to just rely on auto-follow to do the job (unless you can contrive a better fix).
* Mendoman posted a picture example of the problem here, although he converted the item manually: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/352506/victoria7-for-victoria8-morph-problems-with-g3-items
I also discover from having gone through and deleted all of said G7 FBM morphs from my converted clothing that they were using up a good couple of gigabytes - given these are shapes that either won't be activated or are likely to cause problems when activated, being able to not convert them would be something of a boon to disk space.
Are you talking about the clothing converters or the character converters? The only morphs that should be transferred with clothing are the clothing morphs. Could you explain more please?
A lot of clothing has a FBMVictoria7 morph (or similar - FBMOlympia7, FBMEva7, etc) intended to improve the fit and reduce distortion when those base figures are dialled in (as compared to just relying on auto-follow). These exist as morph files for the clothing, and can be seen (as hidden morphs) on the clothing even when it is not fitted to these characters.
As they're morphs that belong to the clothing, they're getting transferred, leading to two main problems:
- these morphs don't match the identically named morphs used by the Gen 8 conversions of those characters (for example, Victoria 7 for Victoria 8). The G8 version of Victoria 7 now works as a derivative character of Victoria 8, so the actual shape of the morph called FBMVictoria7 is very different for G8F and G3F, so the clothing's original corrective morph now results in completely the wrong fit.
- Other than for the G7 for G8 characters (where it causes glitches), these morphs probably won't be activated anyway. Only those people who have converted the characters to G8F will use a corrective clothing morph such as FBMRune7 or the like. That makes quite a lot of difference to the disk space used by the conversions, as many clothes have these corrective morphs for several DO base shapes.
Basically, what I'm suggesting is an option the user can check to have the converter remove morphs called FBMVictoria7, FBMMika7, FBMOphelia7, etc, as it's processing. Presumably this would be done using some kind of "blacklist" of morph names (potentially even editable by the user, should they wish/need to add anything else?).
Obviously the ideal would be to find a way to "correct" these morphs to still have them retain the correct fit on their updated G8F versions, but removing these morphs and letting DS default to autofollow is better than transferring them verbatim.
duplicate formulars found in filesIt means that either a) two products use the same name for a morph channel, and have links to a common channel, so that the links is duplicated as far as names are concerned or b) a single product has a doubled up link in itself. Uninstalling DS won't affect it, uninstalling the base Genesis 8 Female won't affect it - only removing the item causing the doubling up (or one of them if it's a clash between two items) will fix it - which is why I wanted you to find the log lines relating to the duplication.
Pretty upset right now *Daz Sale*What are those genx addons I passed these items because I am not sure which kind of items these are. I don't want morph transfer because I already have all the morph and expression for all genesis generation.
duplicate formulars found in filesThe could not find messages mean just that - there's a link, in this case to Victoria 8, from the Smoother V8 20L ansd Smoother V8 20R morphs which cannot be resolved as you don't have Victoria 8 installed. Since it's a correction morph that is needed only when Victoria 8 is installed and applied that is harmless.
The messages have nothing to do with the Duplicate Formulas alert, you should be able to find log entries for those too.
It's so strange
I don't remember that I have changed my content...
And why do a base G8F needs victoria 8 ...?
It doesn't mean that Victoria 8 is needed - it means that if Victoria 8 were installed that product would have extra morphs already in place to make sure it worked properly with Victoria 8.
I can never understand this strange thing...
It never alert when I load a base G8F , but recently it alert
And today ,I add victoria 8 into my content , it still alert "duplicate formulas found in files" when I load any G8F characters ,even a base G8F
Even stranger,it's OK when I load G8M ,nothing wrong happened, and I'm quite sure I have not install any Michael 8 into my content, why...?
Creating a Genesis 8 character from a custom mesh? For a seamless transfer, you would have to find something that combines these two technologies, photogrammetry and mesh retopology.
If someone could combine facegen with russian3dscanner, that would be awesome. Because r3ds handles full body meshes, and it does mesh retopology like its on steroids.
Genesis 8 Cross-Figure Resource KitA custom morph would have no effect on auto fit itself, as this only fits to the base shape. However the custom morph could distort the item when it is dialled in.
Genesis 8 Cross-Figure Resource KitThank you. This is helpful. I didn't expect it could turn out that sometimes you get even worse results than with autofit. I never had any luck auto autofitting brows and lashes they either distort or stick to a weird place on the face. But then also I use a custom morph and it complicates things for autofit.Pretty upset right now *Daz Sale*Well yeah I bought all genx addons at full price because back then I believed I had to convert my old M4 morph and genx was not on sale at all. Then I wasn't happy with the final outcome and rebuilt my morph from scratch and it turned out way better than my old morph ... and since then I've never touched genx again and probably never will. I have other old v4 and m4 morphs but I will probably never convert them and instead, rebuild them from scratch which kinda makes me sad because for the price of all genx addons at full price I could almost buy Edward's pro bundle on sale :(But yeah I'm not mad. It's ok. It happens. This made me wiser.
Silas 8 is here !I think he's really well made, skin and morph (Thanks to Novica for pointing me at the link :D) , the rest of the pro bundle is not so much in my line, So I'll go for the base figure I guess.
Is GenX worth it?...if you primarily use G8, as I understand, Gen-X will not see a new revision. This is part of why I stopped at G3.
I do almost exclusively use G8, but I know how to transfer from G3 to G8 (and there's also a commercial product from Riversoft available, plus another one by Zevo is coming up.)
I did get the 3 relevant items (base, G2, G3). Can still return them if I'm not satisfied.
mcjTeleBlender:Daz Studio scenes/animations w/Blender's Cycles Enginetoe and finger-tip position Blender-FBX-Fix test when i transfer all the rotations from the figure's root node to the hip,
i get perfect position the proof is, the big toe stays on the white trajectory and the index tip stays in place
so today i'll do this mathematically speaking when i fix the animation in blender
Is GenX worth it?Okay, so I've decided to give it a try, and picked up the transfer tools from Genesis up to Gen 3.
Is there a good tutorial specifically for how to load a customized V4 or M4 character with all of their morphs into the GenX transfer program? (And how to find that morph
(I'm hoping to bring an M4 character with quite a few Creature Creator morphs up to Gen 3. If it saves them as a single morph character, that works great... but I can't seem to figure out how to load his specific morphs into the program. May have to look at it more tomorrow.)
Creating a Genesis 8 character from a custom mesh?It would be far, far better to just use the Genesis 8 model as your base for sculpting from the start. Then you don't need any crazy conversion/shrink wrap thing to try to wrap Genesis 8 to that shape. Facegen is a photogrammetry based creation tool, and has a version for Daz called Facegen Artist. Facegen is a decent place to start. At the least it should give you a decent base texture to use on G8. You might not like the morph it creates because it can be extremely generic, but you can simply not use the morph and still use the skin. Daz has a dev model for Genesis 8, you can export this model (at base resolution) to whatever your fave 3D modeling program is, and work from there. But Facegen can be very deceptive, in a good way. Because it basically inserts your photo on the G8 face, you may not notice that the actual morph is lacking. How well it works depends on just how much character your face has. If you have a gaunt face and have prominent chiseled features it may not turn out well. If you have a more round face it may work decent enough. There is a thread about Facegen somewhere in the forums where people, including me, post their Facegen creations. https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/149871/facegen-now-on-sale-get-it/p1
Right now Facegen is not on sale, but it has been as low as $63 at various times over the year. It was on sale for $83 just a couple days ago.
Facegen has a free demo at their website. The demo does not give you Genesis 3 or 8, but you can test it on the first 2 Genesis generations and see how it performs for you before buying. https://facegen.com/artist.htm You could even buy it directly from their site, but sadly they don't offer any price break for doing so, and never do a sale like Daz will.
There is another similar app for Daz called Headshop. It has some interesting ideas, but I have difficulty recommending it over Facegen. It needs some polish.

So I got them all...and, as I stopped at G1, will be interesting to transfer both V4/M4, G2M, G2F, G3M and G3F to G1

I probably own hundreds of Gen4 morphs I've never used, and a couple of G2/G3 freebies
Is GenX worth it?So, to transfer an M4 character to Genesis 1, which one of those products do I need?
Only this: https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-generation-x2
However you need some of the additional plug-ins if you want to move the char to Genesis 2 or 3. They are never going to be cheaper than $2.5, and it is possible they may not be available at all in the future.
Tks mate! Yeah, might as well get them all, just incase I suddenly start using some other gen=)
