Which version of Daz Studio is this? I suspect it's too old to support dForce hair.
That Cubit look happens all the time when textures are missing. the same thing happened with Victoria 8.1 on launch day when DAZ had not rolled out the new starter essential update (unless you happen to use central)
the cape is in the scene the fur colar doesn't have the Material its always possible the version is old but do old versions not load materials and textures even if they can't run D-Force?
to the OP when you loaded the Cape onto the character did you get a pop up window warning you of missing files? or did it just load to the way you screen shot?
Missing textures won't do that, missing geometry will - if the DS version is too old for dForce hair it won't know what to do with the instructions to draw the strands, which will have the same net result as not being able to find the geometry.

The Product Library page appears to be broken: no links for DIM or manual download, and the DAZ Connect Offline packages are MIA, which probably means the online version is, too. It is available in DIM (and presumably Central), but it is not recommended to mix Connect with other methods. You could do it temporarily and re-install with Connect once it gets fixed.
As this is a V4 item (basically Poser), I wouldn't let Connect mess with it, since Connect uses non-standard paths for product installation.
When you were searching the item, where were you searching, the database or the actual real folders (setting in DS search)?

hmm... my research into this matter last night showed me that Connect often causes exactly these kinds of errors (or am i getting mixed up with 'Central?' - never used Connect or Central) so i'll just stay with DIM-only and wait it out i think. (it doesn't show up in my DIM)
it was a Gen 2 item i got at a flash sale that i was wondering if it would work as the basis for a Gen 8 mesh-hack, but i'm partway into modelling my own now anyway.

DazCentral downloading files to external HDDpatrickgobels said:
Hello!
With DIM I was able to download and update all installation files and figures on my external HDD. Is this also possible with the new "DazCentral"?
PS: Those are installation files as a backup and not installed files for usage. I just want to avoid downloading everything all over again. I already have like 144 GB in my DIM install folder which gets recognized.
Saludos
Patrick
You can change your content path in you Daz Central's preferences.
Word of caution tho. You use either DIM or Daz Central. Not both of them together. If you've already used DIM for you initial installs and current content, just stick with DIM. Using both can cause many issues.Daz created Daz Central to make it easier for newer users to install apps and content. Daz Central is supposed to be an easier version of DIM, however, Daz failed to synch Daz Central with DIM, so existing users of DIM can't transition into using Daz Central (yet, soon?).
If you still choose to use Daz Central, I would recommend to unistall everything thru DIM (apps and content) and do a clean install thru Daz Central.

That is a neat idea. I will try using aluminum foil over the lights and see if that helps. Maybe I can cover some of the lights and leave some alone (there are 12 on just the fans!)
Those house elves won't know what hit them

The stuff that looks like aluminum foil in the picture is actually an adhesive backed foil used for sealing duct work... it's not regular aluminum foil... if you use aluminum foil, you'll have to back it with some sort of spray adhesive or double stick tape.
It's probably not worth going out and buying a $6 roll of the stuff (aluminum tape), but I figured sometimes people might have some in their homes if they have central heating and air conditioning and had to repair the ducts. You could also use blue painters tape and color it black with a sharpie... that's fairly simple too. Just snip it into little squares poke a hole and stick it on.
By the way, if the House Elves are getting out hand, SC Johnson, the makers of Raid bug spray have a new formula "Elf & Gnome" which is pretty good good at knocking down a bunch of them at once if you have an infestation... it's much better than using the glue traps or baits... especially if you've had one croak in the walls and have had to either break open the wall or just tough it out until the stink goes away.

There are three choices :
Manual Installation (advance)
DIM (Daz Install Manager)
Daz Central (Also Known As DIMmer)
Amongst Daz' installation methods are such diverse elements as Manual, Daz Install Manager, Daz Central, and Daz Connect (the middle two being essentially the same, but Central is more locked down to make life easier for new users).

Don't forget DAZ Connect (inside DS)... Although, based on what can be read here, it tends to make a mess out of everything

Where do I get G 8.1 F ?It's in the "Genesis 8 Female starter essentials".
If you haven't updated that, run DIM/connect/central, and install the updated version.
If it doesn't show up in DIM, Try a manual download and install from your "product page" in My account.
send to zbrush not supported?Note that there is an issue with using Genesis 8.1, resolved in the latest Public Build (beta) - however you will have to use Install Manager to install that as Daz Central does not handle the public Builds.
send to zbrush not supported?scrap that!
I just found out that it exists in Daz central, I just installed it. Sorry to bother :)Daz to Unreal Update 4.03DRT said:

Currently DIM and Daz Central can only have one version able to be installed. You will be able to use the automatic install for 4.26 only right now. Until that is changed if you wish to get the older version's plugin you can find it here.
Just download the zip-labeled builds and in there you will find the plugin for 4.25.
The link David shared will be if you wish to get the backlog of old versions as well.
https://github.com/daz3d/DazToRuntime/releases/tag/4.1.0-unreal
Every release moving forward will be found on our GitHub as well. Will 4.25 still be supported going forward (i.e. will new features and fixes for the plugin be available in the 4.25 version)?
We will be trying our best to keep 4.25 supported as long as we can but, we will be prioritizing updates on the most up-to-date version of the Engine.

HeadShop OneClick2021 now at DAZ! (Commercial)Twilight2Shadow12 said:
I got Headshop Oneclick2021, but so far it has been a disaster. I unzip it and run the installer. It crashes and deletes it's self. I then find that my anti-virus software has declared it to be a virus. I break it out of impound and try again. Crashes again saying it can't find VISETUP.INF. Checking in the 2 very much hidden directories the installer is looking in to find the said file, I conclude that no such file exists on my computer. I have about the same issue when I got the headshop before this one. It is getting far too frustrating! I already have a tech support ticket in, but doubt they will get back to me any time soon. Have searched and I seem to be the only person with this issue. I normal installer like DAZ Central would likely help, but who knows.
Seems like such a great and useful product, but i greatly doubt I will ever get to use it.
Did you read tghe README file? HeadShop DOES NOT install with DIM or DAZ Central. It has its own installer.
I am happy to help: please email to [email protected] or invite me on skype: lasloves is the skype name.

Progress with Running Track Freebie (Hurdles + G8F Hurdles Poses)Right, I have fired up my modelling machine & got some images off it.
The first is the whole stadium with its 98+ separate bodies.
Now the central grass body.
Imported into my modeller showing the triangles needed to match the curves on the corners of the track. Diagonally top right in the first image is up/down in my modeller, just to get the orientation clear. It cannot go under the track surface as on a model this size, sometimes iRay displays the grass above the track surface & sometimes below even when the top of the grass is nominally 2.5cm below track level.
Now re-modelled using the original vertices & whatever new ones needed for the new quads. The cyan arrows showing normals on the edging facets that seem to be needed to prevent a gap being visible where the grass stops. I'm sure a lot of this is only needed because iRay/DS only use floats for vertex position. If it used doubles, it'd be OK. This seems mostly OK, but I have had an inkling that the slenderness ratio of some of the facets may cause problems (around 400:1) & I'll need to re-mesh some of the patches I created. Certainly, if it was FE analysis (which is what I aimed my modeller at when I started programming it in 2004), the model would be catastrophically bad.
Regards,
Richard.
