Having trouble with Faceshop
i am a DAZ 4.6 user with Faceshop 7 (Upgrade from 6)
I use FS since DAZ 3 and i got some good results, but only in former times.
But in DS 4.X i have great problems:
i am not able to create a face with FS any more. I always get the error-message that the directory couldn't be created because the selected figure has not a valid runtime-folder.
What does that mean and how can i solve this problem ???I am using Michael 4
See attachment.
When FS breaks after this error-message, the half M4-figure is suddenly invisible.
In the Menue i can save the dots of the face-definition, but where can i load them?
I have payed lot of money and i want a working plugin!
And: the tutorial is for some other versions of FS and is not compatible with the version i have buyed. It is wrong on some parts.
I have sent some mails to pantomat or ablonellc.com, but they don't answer
Can anyone help?
V4 UV mapping request for G2FThere's "Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 Female" (http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-for-genesis-2-female) and "Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Male" (http://www.daz3d.com/michael-4-for-genesis-2-male), which provide the V4 and M4 UVs for G2F and G2M, respectively. The M4 product is a little more difficult to use -- there are some hoops to jump through to get the gens textures to work (the vendor provides direction on how to make it happen) -- but I have to say that I'm very happy with both products and would definitely recommend them.
So far, I've simply been loading V4 or M4 with the textures I want carried over to G2F or G2M, saving out those textures as Material presets in .DUF format, and then loading those saved presets onto G2F or G2M. That may not be the way you're supposed to do it, but it's working for me with no apparent glitches.

super hero poseHello!!! I remember that there was a set of poses of superheroe, for Michael 4... right now, genesis seems to "eat" every part of the shop, so I can't find any of these poises...if anybody see what I'm looking for? thank you!!!!
Rendering screwed up. Help.I got something like this just yesterday - applying Ghost of Macbeth Goblin/Orc textures (for M4) to G2M via the script converter. From memory the displacemnt settings after application were 100% and min/max of 0.10. I don't recall them looking so ... borderline aneurysm on M4 or Genesis, and as it was not a critical thing dropped the idea.
Victoria 6, Michael 6, etc... what exactly am I buying?Also, another question I can’t find a clear answer to…
I notice that a very large majority of clothing models require certain specific character models. Is this due to requiring certain articulation joints the base Gen2 models don’t have? Or is it something else. Can these props be used on the base Gen2 models with Autofit? Or will they just not work?I really don’t want to spend money when I don’t understand these basic compatibility questions. So I thought I’d just ask. Thanks for any insight you can offer.
First of all the original Genesis figure (Generation 5) was neither male or female (or both depending on how you look at it), and it comes with the Autofit clones for Victoria 4 (V4) Michael 4 (M4) and The Kids 4 (K4), so any of their clothing can be Autofit to Genesis without further purchases. Other 'Iconic Shapes' for Genesis are available for purchase which add clones to Autofit for Generation 3 models as well, and give Genesis 'the look' of these previous models.
Genesis 2 has both a Male and Female Version (G2M and G2F), and Autofit has a clone for Genesis (Generation 5) supplied with the figures. If you want to Autofit directly to G2F or G2M, you would need to buy the packages that contain the Autofit clones from the store, but it can still be done in two stages, by first converting to Genesis (Gen 5) and then saving that and applyin to G2F or G2M using the supplied Autofit clone.
Since V6 and M6 are built on the base Genesis 2 mesh, there wont be much difference in bending or stretching of limbs etc. There are limits which you can override though.
If you have any specific problems with Genesis 2, you ask any questions you may have here on the forum, with explicit examples. G2 is a much improved figure, but there can still be problems with extreme poses.
There are lots of morph sets for Genesis 2 in the store, which would give you a lot more options than V6 or M6, such as expression morphs.Novica & Invited Guest Contributors Tips & Product Reviews Pt 4He's definitely fun- and HUGE.
I am going to put a Coalition Katana with him, I think they have the same "look."
Coalition Katana is not cheap ($24.95) but with a sale, worth a look. EDIT: It's for Michael 4 and you do need to load him first. One click and it preloads totally. In other words, easy to use.Description:
"The Coalition Katana are the Special Black Ops units for the Coalition. They do the jobs no one wants and few come back from. This is an original armor set for the M4 character"Just starting, don't know when I'll have the render.
Wouldn't It Be Nice If SmartProps Worked With More Than Just One Figure...N.B. my "post #123" type links don't work because the new forum software introduced in late 2014 broke them all. It destroyed all my careful cross-linking. Bug report 184071 (basically "Please fix the old style links!") raised Jan 2015 is still open... but I reckon on seeing pigs flying over a frozen hell before that gets done.. ;o)

How about smartprops that work with around 50+ different figures?
Smartprops that are smart enough to automatically apply an appropriate hand pose? That's the idea behind the five Smart+ Poser props, the PropGoto+ Poser pose file, and the associated PoserPython scripts in my latest "Generic Smart+ And PropGoto+ For Poser 6+" freebie upload (N.B. - Move a previously loaded Smart+ prop from anywhere in the scene to any supported figure's hand, including from one hand to the other, or from one figure's hand to another figure's hand.
- Move an ordinary prop (i.e. non-Smart+) in the same way as a Smart+ prop by using a Smart+ 'DummyHand' proxy (this is a little bit more complex, but once you know how it's very easy - instructions included in the PDF User Guide, and a couple of helper poses/scripts are included to make it easier)Three PDF guides included:

If you are using 3DCoat you should just be able to import the base obj, which should be in your content folder, in the Runtime\Geometries\DAZPeople\blMilMan_m4b.obj or something similar.
And you really do need to start from a 'blank' slate in order not to infringe on any copyrights for any existing textures...or get a hold of merchant resource set for M4, especially, if at some point you decide to want to distribute anything you make. (Most resource kits don't allow use for making freebie content...)
Even better, if you go here you will find SnowSultans Seam guides, which make it easier to use the templates

Maximum number of folder for DAZ Content ManagerCan anyone kindly inform me what is the maximum number of folder DAZ can use for content management?
I've started to re-install all of my content from scratch and have created multiple runtimes along product lines (Victoria 3, Victoria 4, Cars, Buildings, Michael 4, Weapons, etc)..
Once again many thanks for your assistance...

import enigmaWhen I open DAZ 4.6 and place Michael 4 into the scene all the morphs are there.
I can open Michael four in Carrara 8.5 pro fine, but i cannot locate the morphs so as to import them using “add runtime” or “auto detect runtime”. They seem to be mounted ok or why would they work in DAZ ?Daz Studio can use an automatic Script to load all of the Morphs for Generation 4 figures.
In Carrara,.. you need to go to your Daz "Runtime" library, (under Content) (not smart content).
In the Poses section, you'll find Michael 4 morphs, and inside there, you'll see icons for loading the different morph sets you want to work with. When you add morphs to a figure,. it increases the memory used to hold all of that info. so it's not really a great idea to automatically load all available morphs
Hope it helps :)
Should I upgrade to V6?Now that we have GenX2 and all the others wonderful PA tools, I think yes it is time to move on ! ;)
You could use most of your V4/M4 clothes (thanks autofit)
You can use V4 UV maps http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-for-genesis-2-female
You can use M4 UV maps http://www.daz3d.com/michael-4-for-genesis-2-male
Transfer your morphs http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-generation-x2 + http://www.daz3d.com/genx2-addon-for-genesis-2
A lot of morphs packs even NPM since today!
So time to join the G2F/M world!

Poser and Generation 5 UV Bundle for Genesis 2 Female(s)Levanah said:Ok, I understand better now, but yesterday, when reading your product description:Quote:
"Please note that presets must be saved in .DUF format before they can be used on Genesis 2. Presets using .PZ2 or .DSA format can be converted manually or with 3rd Party products available in the DAZ Store."You mention it needs .DUF files, which after checking, I had on my system, thus thinking it was safe to buy as a Poser user. Now, reading here that my .DUF need to be re-done using other .DUF files via DS makes me sigh because I can't give the product back as it was part of the madness thingy and I am sorry to say this to you but, I will NOT bother going into DS every single time I want to use a texture because there is a reason I do not use DS: I have thousands of dollars worth of Poser compatible products and I am specialized in that software.
Also, please point me towards the third party resource for conversion which you mention as I cannot find one. Thanks...Lev
I understand completely, Levanah. It's okay. If I had to open Poser and convert things to use in DS, I wouldn't bother. As for the product description not mentioning this extra conversion, it's because I only discovered it while answering your questions. When I tested the product, I already had my files converted, so I didn't realize they wouldn't work without it.
As for the third party product to convert pz2 and dsa to duf, here is a link: http://www.daz3d.com/v4-skins-auto-converter-for-genesis-2-female-s and http://www.daz3d.com/michael-4-skins-auto-converter-for-genesis-2-male-s
I should point out that I don't know if using those products will give you the same issue when using Poser or not, so you might want to ask someone who has tried it.
M4 gens map on G2M gensthis one http://www.daz3d.com/michael-4-for-genesis-2-male says it's updated for the gens. :)

Installing content using DIM in alternate locations? For those worrying about moving files out of the installed-to directory (using DIM):
After I'd install a bunch of stuff with DIM I'd move the batch of zips to an external then delete them. No problem with updates.
My existing Michael 4 runtime was beautifully organized so I couldn't install with DIM to there, what a mess that would be. But I wanted to be sure I had the latest versions of everything so I installed all my DAZ M4 stuff with DIM into a new DIM-M4 runtime.
I couldn't just wipe out my old M4 runtime because it had ::whisper:: stuff from other places in it too.
So since I don't use the CMS (it doesn't work for me--long story) I decided to organize my DIM-M4 stuff INTO the existing M4 runtime which I spent hours and hours doing. I was able to completely wipe out everything in the DIM-M4 folder.
I wasn't worried because like how many updates do we really expect of M4 products from DAZ at this point?
Lo and Behold an M4 product update came in a couple weeks ago.
Let's see what happens!
I told it to install into DIM-M4, I could tell it was hunting for the files to uninstall and it took a bit. If it found the textures and geometries in the other M4 runtime no problem. It would never find the library files. That will be my responsibility.
Then it installed the updated product into DIM-M4.
I went in and took the files and did the update myself into my other runtime.
It all went swimmingly well.
In fact, moving the files out of the installed-to directory and organizing them into a different runtime is possibly the better way to go than organizing them within the installed-to directory itself. I'd just be sure the DIM installed-to directory is higher than the organized runtime on the list of libraries in Studio. (In case you install an update and don't get around to 'fixing' it until later. But who would do that? ::cough cough::)
HTH
(I'm peeking in this thread because I'm considering putting all my DAZ content on an external since I'm out of space and was wondering how well that works.)
