Basically you have Daz Central...Do Not Use It...then you have Daz Connect and DIM, best option is DIM. What zombietaggerung is trying to say in download the programs from your product library and install manually, which is what I do for everything.

I'm real new here.  Can you explain this in better detail?

Humm,  got a new computer and installed Cinema 4D R23 and D|S  onto it, and the Bridge isn't showing up.  Install Manager and Central both say its installed, but there's no sign of it in D|S.  It's not showing up in Cinema4D either, regardless of which Plugin directory I place it in. EDIT I feel like a derp, forgot about the "it's in a new menu now" thing.

so guys, my issue is that when i use BRIDGE To transfer from daz STUDIO to C4D the only thing that imports is the IK rigs, not the physical model. I unistalled DAZ Central, Studio, and Bridge again and again. and i dont know what the update did.

Manual installation and putting things where you want (Poser-style) is how you end up with all the "missing content."  Ask me how I know.  

Categories is a much cleaner way.

I use the list view in the Content Library pane to navigate, but can't imagine wasting the time installing manually with the size of my library, so DIM it is!

Exactly my experience. Spent all that time in an OCD frenzy, creating catergories and placing my stuff into a beautifully ordered system only to have a DAZ update trash the lot. Like you, I have never had the inclination to venture there again. So now I just let DIM do its thing and occasionally move stuff to where it makes more sense. I don't use Smart Content either - just the tree view.

I tend to agree with the concerns about potentially wasting time setting up categories and the ability to save/restore them. After doing some quick digging, I came across the following:

It's old and I haven't tried it, but I assume it'll still work in newer versions of DS. Someday when I'm bored and have nothing to do (yeah, right!), maybe I'll give it a go. If/when I do, I'll definitely do a small test before investing too much time.

I tend to use the store to browse for stuff anyway by filtering by what I own thanks to the browser plugin. This has the advantage of being able to check out all the promos. I do wish the list of user-facing DUFs (and their locations) from the read-me files were actually listed on the product pages themselves, though.

Which thumbnail are you talking about? All items in a Product should have some sort of thumbnail, but not necessarily the larger "tip" that you see on hover. The Product thumbnail that normally comes with the Product's metadata support? You can create one from any image (a promo, or a render of your own) by copying it (probably want to resize it to something reasonable) to the Runtime/Support folder and naming it exactly the same as the metadata .dsx file for the product. If there was no metadata included with the Product, the installation process (DIM, at least, maybe Central, don't know what Connect does) creates one to at least define the Product and its contents for the CMS database. The easiest way to find the metadata file is to search for the SKU in the Runtime/Support folder. Copy the filename to the image you want to use, and it should appear for the Product after a refresh.

I got a new computer and since i'm a Poser user I hadn't gotten around to installing Daz... Only to find out it's this Central crap.

I am trying to install just Daz through it right now but everytime I try it shoots up to 51%, gets stuck at 65%, then completely stops and says 'install' again.

I've closed it, reopened it, tried looking in the downloads in c:/ but there's nothing i can use from there.

What am I supposed to do now?

Not "true" sahders, just older shaders.

Even Daz Central allows you to set a base path, which can be on any drive you like.

I realised that some of the errors in the log file were from wiping my PC laptop (reinstalling to factory defaults but keeping mu files), so I deleted all DAZ related files, and reinstalled it through Daz Central. Daz Studio still crashes when I try to open a saved scene, so there's still a problem somewhere - I don't know how to solve it.

The log file says this (have also attached it below):

It complains about similar things related to NVIDIA also.

I don't have a NVIDIA graphic card on the laptop, but if I've understood correctly it should be able to do Iray renders with the CPU? There's an Intel(R) Iris(R) Plus Graphics card on the laptop, am aware it's not great but that's all I have.

Someone in Product Suggestions was looking for a Rugby Uniform (real, not skimpwear) for G8F. I think the tight fitting leotards and shorts and tops/bras are easier to produce for the women and men. I am sick of the baggy shorts and tees for the guys, especially without any details.

But Rugby, Football, Tennis, Golf (from the little I see from the tournaments, it seems almost like Friday business wear now), Hockey, Bicyling (weekend warriors vs serious teams), Baseball, Basketball, Horse Riding English and Western/Working, Sking outfits and gear. This is off the top of my head. 

Need Hiking clothes for mountains in fall, where you can have summer, fall, and winter in 24 hours. I believe there is hiking equipment in the store. 

I have seen surfing suits in the store finally. On the Central Coast of California, I never saw a surfer get into the Pacific without one.

AFAIK DAZ Central and DIM share the same data and file structures.  But DAZ Central has a bad reputation for messing things up (may have been fixed now, I don't know), so I'd recommend DIM which has a much better reputation.

Andrew - now that is the darker theme to balance the other entries of cuteness.  Excellent use of caustics.  Render times of caustics often make me pause, but worth it.
