Daz Studio 4.12 Pro, General Release! (*UPDATED*)
hey all,
So im trying to save an animation with some morphs, one is called " open wide" what ever i do, it wont save the keys on the timeline when i use this morph.
Is there som workarround for this? It really disrupts my work now and i cant figure out where it goes wrong.
Allready searched the forums and it seems to be a problem in general, but maybe there is a workaround?Catoon A Fine Felinish SortCatoon has the most cat-like face of the 3d models I have. Yet, he/she is a very personable anthropomorphic figure. Best cat nose ever! The fur is just right and the ear fur and brows and whiskers the best looking so far. Looking forward to feline textures in the future. Another pooka I have quicky added to my collection. It would be nice to be able to morph the claws, thinner, curved, retracted etc. But Catoon is a charmer. That rascally smile!
Daz3d to Blender WorkflowI feel you... there was a similar argument for right-click-to-select as well. That's what happens when you let the programmers design the interface.
Yes indeed, every project needs those who think like programmers and those who think like artists because you'll have to look high and low for someone who can do both.
Thanks for those links Padone, good stuff to know. I've decided not to make a full switch to Blender for now, but if have a moment, could you perhaps share the proper import and export settings for getting a prop or figure out of Studio, into Blender for morphing, and back to Studio? I pretty much know what has to be done (export as OBJ at base resolution, don't add or subtract any polygons or resize, export back as OBJ, then use Morph Loader Pro to apply it), but I'm reading different directions for which options to leave checked and some settings are different or added in 2.8x. Sorry to bother you with that, hope it's not too much trouble.
Carrara Challenge # 52 - Carrara Cryptids WIP thread--Entries EndedThanks for the thumbs up, ed3D.
And here is a Who female. Not a true morph, but related. Took an intermediate stage Grinch mesh, made changes, and attached the Grinch skeleton. Rigged, but needs the weightmaps adjusted. See under the armpits.
OK, so I've got a Grinch, his dog, and a Who couple. Can I assemble a scene by tomorrow night?

Yes - they can make the deadline !!!
Copying posesThanks for the tip Dart !
Fenric's Pose Transfer on Dinosaurs
Copying posesI just checked to see if this works - and it does.
First of all, to transfer a pose from one figure to another only really works properly if it shares the same hierachy structure in the bones. So a M4 pose will transfer better to A4, F4, G4, H4, V4, etc.,
Carrara has a built-in pose transfer system - NLA (non-linear animation) which also includes Master Pose as well as the Master Clip for animations.
For a static pose:
- Select the top level of the posed figure
- Go to the NLA tab in the properties tray
- Click: Create Master Pose
- Be sure to include everything you need transferred in the dialog that pops up
- Click Okay
- Now simply store your new NLA pose file to your browser (it's in the Clips tab, bottom of the properties tray)
Things to know: If you don't copy the file to your browser or save the scene that contains it, it will be lost when you close the scene. So if you only want to copy/paste the pose file, leave the current window open when opening the next scene. If you already copied it, you can now paste the clip file into the new scene and close the previous scene. Hope that makes sense.
I just tested to see if my V4 clips work on M4, and they do.
EDIT: They do NOT transfer well to Genesis, however. The hierachy structure is different. Generation 1 through 3 are very similar, while generation 4 is nearly the same as well, except that the feet were modeled pointing down, so the feet bones have more of an angle in pose files. Their slightly different shape also plays a factor in the pose (as the pose requires somewhat different angles being set, etc.,) so crossing generations doesn't always yield expected results. But if you don't mind a little tweak here and there, they will get you closer - except in the case of Genesis or newer, that is.
Genesis generations are not compatible with each other. Each generation changes quite a lot. Genesis 1 is the closest to earlier generations, but has a completely different hierarchy. aniBlock Importer will still load Generation 4 aniBlocks to the correct bones of Genesis because it uses the bone name instead of its location in the hierarchy.

A morph of the Grinch. A Who wears a suit and a tie, maybe even an ill-fitting vest.
_ alright then _
Animation in DAZBetter to visit the official Reallusion store/forums for specific sales info as they compete directly with Daz Inc.I'm not asking for sales info or prices, I'm asking what is needed to transfer characters between Reallusion products, DAZ Studio and maybe Blender too. I only mentioned half-price because that is the offer at the moment.
NVM, I did go to their forum and found what seems to be the answer which is that CC3 Pipeline has replace 3DXchange Pipeline as the means by which to bring in DAZ characters to Iclone 7. So the bundle required would be iClone 7 + CC3 Pipeline. Something to consider at least.

There's probably quite a few incarnations of her out there but this one's free so... :)
Thank you for sharing :)
The "Animators Assemble!" thread for Daz animation WIPs, clips, and tipsHello, world.
Introducing myself here. Just dipping my toe in the thread. So much awesome stuff. I especially like reading about all the different workflows that you folks have.
I have been dabbling with stills, primarily in Carrara and more recently in Studio. My original intent was scifi comics. Recently, my interest has been drifitng toward animations. Visually, I'm not interested in photorealism. I prefer stylized figures. Over time, I've been attracted towards a claymation appearance. Think of the holiday specials by Hannah and Barbera. Whether the end result will be the figures I have been modeling myself or custom morphs of Daz3D figures remains to be seen. Either way, the transfer utility in Daz Studio is a great resource as a plugin.
I am truly at the very first step. So much so, that my first attempts to get feedback for the Fluidos plugin got my youtube account flagged for a warning (just a landscape, fountain, and water -argh! makes no sense). So I don't even have a stable place for my test videos yet.
But to qualify for the thread, the following was my first attempt at an animation. Everything modeled and rendered in Carrara. It is a car chase, not one of my claymation figures.
good job Diomede

Actually there aren't that many for the up to date figures, as has been discussed here previously. So this is a very welcome addition for me. Thanks for this, and the others that you share :)
Help to solve critical problem in G8 clothing creationYou will probably have to adjust the weight maps in those areas. Transfer utility is a starting point, not a one-click solution for all cases.
You may also need to create joint controlled morphs to adjust the mesh when the leg is bent, so it deforms more naturally.
Help to solve critical problem in G8 clothing creationHi guys! I starting to modeling outfits for G8M and F , and i get a big trouble. When i import my OBJ files, and transfer utility from G8 Character works ok still there.
But, when i check movements/poses areas like groin/croach and armpit, are totally deformed (the obj mesh breaks completely), they do not follow the movement.

It is not a problem of modeling (ALL, occurs with all obj are like this, the mesh has no flaws and is perfectly modeled), it is being made high poly, other joints work without a problem.
The defects remain only in the groin and armpit...... How do solve this? whoever can explain in detail, I will thank you immensely
Thanks!!GENERAL FREEBIE REQUESTS part 3Hello
stumbled upon a not so recent problem. Last Christmas I assembled a scene with two angle figures (German: Putten) holding a script band.
Millenium Baby is fine for this, but I would like to use a model with more possibilites for posing, especially feet and toes.
Genesis, especial Genesis 3, would be good, but the faces are quite different from those you get with Millenium Baby.
So my question: Does someone know a head morph for the Genesis or Genesis 3 etc. which come close to Millenium Baby? Thanks in advance

Does Anyone Know How to Fix This Error Message?Hi Dean, thank you so much for your help. My problem was weird : when I used G8 in a new scene, everything worked OK but when I wanted to transfer G3 morphs to G8 using XTransfer I had the message "Missing File: studio/my library/people/genesis 8 female/characters/freckles.duf" It now seems to work fine. Thanks again, have a great weekeend and take care. JC
Why Does It Take So Long To Load Figures? ("Solved", with GUIDE)So I've looked at hardware during the loading, and with only Daz working, 4 of my 12 threads were in heavy use, and all of the cores had some spikes.
The RAM was being slowly filled.I've uninstalled just some morph packages that I had never used before, and the loading times have already decreased:
- G8F from 136 seconds to 106 (-30, or -22%).
- G8M from 33 to 28 (-5 or -15%)
Then I've uninstalled around 1/4-1/3 of my G8F figures:
- G8F 89 seconds (-35% compared to the beginning)
Regarding custom characters, so the ones that we actually use, here are the new times:
- G8F 97 seconds (-65% compared to the beginning)
- G8M 39 seconds (-44%).
I guess all that's left to do to improve those times is to get better CPU and RAM.
