HeadShop 13 with LoveChild
Be careful when making a purchase ... there are 2 types, one is an upgrade, the other is the full product.
While HeadShop works from a basic set of textures for the figure, initially loading a face texture. The rest of the textures and a better face texture image can be manually applied from the folder they were created into.
To work with various skin tones, i.e. very dark skins, one would want to replace that basic set of textures with an MR of their choosing OR a basic set made using the 'RST' [real skin tone] images [of which I've released a number].
For ALL of the morphing plugins/programs, ideally one normally uses the provided face texture - as is if you want to - but for more perfection, as a starter; fixing it in an image editor. While there, one can also add more details to the rest of the basic skin too. One can find MR and/or resource photographic images of people in a variety of stores. If you don't want to go with subscription websites, I can recommend ArtStation.
As to the morphing photograph being matched point for point, the quality of the photograph plays a big part ;-) HeadShop 13 can handle angled photos better. Do not use photos that are super large in weight. Properly lit portrait photos work best of course. And for some reason black/white photos may work better than coloured ones. No glasses, no beards, etc. of course. {such can be removed in an image editor before processing}
With regards to the skin textures provided, the REALLY nice thing is that TWO faces are provided. One has the photograph merged onto it, the other is without the photograph. So one can work with the morph and a clean base skin texture set for starters {or as is if so desired}.
The love child section allows one to morph what might be the result between 2 adults. As I recall one would then dial in child morphs [from other products] to resize the figure down properly.
So it sounds like I'm not really missing anything... You would think for a $100 program they would provide you with a few different skin tone textures, or at least be able to modify the hue of 1 base texture to at least attempt to closely match the face photo.
Also if they can't even provide promo photos where nostrils are lined up, there's not very much hope for the end user to do it any better, regardless of the photo quality.
And if you are most likely going to have to retexture anyway, I don't really see the point of purchasing something like this (especially for the asking price!) when you can do the same thing with the face transfer that comes with daz studio for free (it seems like it's just as much work if not more to retexture from the examples I saw for Head Shop as it would be to retexture the watermarked face transfer texture). You could also use Art Breeder or one of dozens of other free face mixing programs and then bring it into face transfer, so I'm not seeing any great extra value of love child.
I'm not trying to be rude, the advertising is honest at least. The price is just blowing my mind for the quality offered. If they can actually compete and sell in this market, good on them I guess. Although, I hope that people aren't fooled into buying it simply because of Daz's implicit endorsement by featuring it in their marketplace.
I'd like to add I'm not trying to knock anyone using head shop. This is all my opinion based on what I've seen, and I have never personally used the software so I could be totally off point here. If you're comfortable using a tool and it gets you where you need to go, then that's a good tool for you.
um, hmm ... one does not retexture watermarked face transfer textures for redistribution. Something called a license ;-)
Over time all products in the Daz3D store go on sale. I rather doubt too many people buy everything at full price. They buy memberships and wait for prices they are happy to spend on what they want.
It is a LOT easier to replace the base textures [swapping in one's own MRs] in HeadShop 13 than it is for Face Transfer.
Here's an example of the new textures it made using an MR available for free over at sharecg.com.

what the secret to making a best selling? As has already been touched on, there is no secret fast-track route to a "best-seller", especially in commercial art -- it is the result of a long process of honing your skills, finding your niche, perfecting your craft, and learning through trial and error what people like and don't like/want and don't want from the area you're working in. Daz is a powerful and vast product, with users who all utilise the tool totally differently. To sell to everyone, you'd have to create some sort of photorealistic cartoon ugly-beautiful fibremesh-strand-based-DForce bi-gendered figure compatible with all models from V/M4 - G8 and that can also somehow morph into a powerful landscape building tool with sci-fi and fantasy and contemporary/real world scenerary elements, shaders for all of the materials that have ever existed in our planetary system, and an interior set with 100000000 modern-historical furniture pieces, which will all render in under 5 minutes in both 3DL and Iray... oh, and with a bonus chainmail bikini.
And, yeah, obviously nobody would buy that product because it would be weird, haha.
So, keep your cool: find the area you love to work in, talk to the community you will be selling to, go through the trial and error, and I'm sure you'll get there

Above all, remember to always care about what you're doing. If you're making something only with the intention of big sales and don't actually care about the product itself, well, you can't exactly expect anyone else to care about it either. The "Powered by Hot Pockets" Complaint ThreadHow does your camera store the images? Just jpg format? If so, you don't need anything fancy, just plug in your card to a card reader and open with File Explorer, copy from there to any folder on your hard drive. That's all I do. I have a huge treasury of digital photos from our various cameras over the years. Well, Diane's first digital camera, stills I took on my miniDV camcorder (it had an SD card for stills), and photos from the FujiFilm digital camera I bought her for her birthday several years ago. 16 MegaPixel. Have it in the high quality setting all the time. Does panorama photos, HD 1080p video, too. Works fine transferring the way I do it. Surprisingly fast with the card reader in my Epson WiFi printer. Usually, I open two windows and drag and drop from the card to the hard drive.

Yeah, just simple JPG. It's a Nikon Coolpix P5100. 12Mpixels I think. Nice camera for a Coolpix. All the manual settings, takes optional lenses & attachments. I use it for spherical photography with the fisheye or wide angle lenses. I also use it for making HDRI photos, flat or spherical. It was an upgrade from my 20 year old Nikon Coolpix-995 (4Mpixels). I originally bought the fisheye for the 995 and it still works on the P5100. In fact, almost all the attachments for the 995 also work on the P5100. I have about every attachment possible for the 995 and the P5100, 2 telephotos, 2 wide angles, a fisheye, microscope adapter, telescope adapter, ringlight, filter adapter, stack of filters, remote shutter release, Nikon flash. Gad, I love that old 995.
It had the perfect form & features, except for the resolution. Had they just improved the resolution and kept the swivel head I would have paid $1000 for a replacement. But at the time, the closest thing in a newer model was the P5100. Nice image detail, but no swivel head. The 995 still works but I have to admit that the smaller P5100 is easier to put in my pocket. But even the P5100 is 10 years old now.
And yeah, I could use a simple image transfer utility, but I started using the Nikon software that comes with the camera 20 years ago. It's changed a few times over the years but I kept up with it. This latest hiccup is just another step along the way. I'm used to the way their apps work. Regardless, the new version of NikonTransfer2 is now installed, it works, and I have three other new free Nikon apps to tinker with.

Would I like a similar capability modern camera with RAW imaging too? Absolutely. But it's not high on my budget list $,$$$. And I'd have to start accumulating an all new set of lenses and attachments. $$,$$$

Biggest advantage with the swivel head? In a crowd, holding the camera above your head to look past the heads of the crowd and being able to swivel the head so that the back of the body faces you so that you can see the LED display so that you know exactly what you have in the picture. Priceless.
The "Powered by Hot Pockets" Complaint ThreadA little research on the Internet reveals that NikonTransfer has not been updated since 2015 so I'm not surprised it has finally fallen over the edge.
I really don't know why I use the Nikon software for image transfer from camera to computer. My camera doesn't do RAW images and I don't really need any fancy editing features specific to a top-end Nikon camera. I can transfer images from the camera via USB or even directly from the SD card with other apps like Photoshop. I just used NikonTransfer for getting the images from the camera and putting them into an automatically named folder. Almost any other image accumulation software product can do that.
HOWEVER, I did find out that Nikon now has a newer free product called "ViewNX-i" as part of a suite of products that are approved for use under Windows10. The suite includes "NikonTransfer-2". So, I've downloaded it and will install it. If it works, fine. If not, then OK, I'll just find some other way.
Edited to add: New Nikon app. suite installed after uninstalling the old NikonTransfer. Transfering images from camera now works OK (Yay!)
Suite includes:"NikonTransfer-2" for getting images from selected Nikon cameras. (this is what I was after)
"ViewNX-i" for browsing & editing images. (this seems to be faster loading than the default Microsoft viewing tools)
"Capture-NX-D" Not sure what it does but it looks like a more sophisticated browsing and editing app.
"Picture Control Utility-2" Which looks like a lazy person's image editor to achieve various moods. Several built-in filters.
coincidentally , carrara hasnt been updated since 2015

Any G3 to G8 pose converter for hands?Thats exactly what Im doing. I have the G3 pose, I save it as a preset, I load the G8 and apply that pose. It guess all warped and wrong, so I use the converter to fix the legs and the arms. Hands remain messy
When I run into issues with legs/arms/hands/toes warping, it's usually because the rigging is off. Edit > Figure > Rigging > Transfer Rigging (Figure Space) usually fixes the issue.
How do I export a figure to Blender?Right now the best way to get DAZ figures into Blender is using the Diffeomorphic plugin (my tablet is acting up so I can't give you a link, but you can easily find it with a Google search). Be sure to read the directions/manual or your results might not be so great. To get the latest features, get the developmental version. The are also a couple of threads here for using DAZ content in Blender that should help as well.
Diffeomorphic can give you almost everything you have mentioned here, and in your other threads, including morphs, jcm's, and IIRC there is now a way to transfer HD morphs.
Great! I will check that out. My experiments with Daz's native fbx exporter are just terrible. I don't know which end the problem is on- possibly both- but it's remarkable how bizarre the results are.

Just cannot get face transfer utility to workI meet the same problem and have cracked it.
I am a Chinese. I found it will popup the error message. "Face Transfer failed to generate. Try a different source image" if the photo path include Chinese.
So, just check the path of your photo that if there are non-English character even the name of photos.
That's interesting, thank you for sharing the info.
Cancel buttonsThere are some processes that take a long time without any way of cancelling them except force-quiting DS. I was trying to save out a morph and had the wrong figure selected, so it had a lot of morphs in it that I didn't want to save, but there was no way of cancelling the save. This happens with other things as well. I know some processes can't be interrupted without catestrophic failures, but if it's a matter of abandoning an unwanted save, simulation, etc., it would be great to have cancel buttons implemented more broady than they are now.
What is 'backward compatible' for G8 and what isn't?In general poses don't really translate, but there are converters, some pay and some free.
Clothing/.hair, with the right clones or converters you can pretty much autofit any clothing/hair other than heels which have been problematic since genesis 1. When autofitting, if there isn't a specific clothing type, just use full body when applicable.
Textures, they tend to be more figure UV specific. There are some products that allow older skins to be used on G8 and vice versa with the use of geografts (look for Cayman Studios in the store).
Morphs, with the use of GenX you can transfer most morphs from V4 all the way up to G3. There are then a couple of converters to transfer morphs from G3 to G8.
In general the backwards compatibility is there, but minimal which makes sense since DAZ is a marketplace first and foremost and relies on users purchasing items to stay in business.
Keep in mind that many of the tools and products made to help with backwards compatibility are designed to work only in the target app, Daz Studio, so using them outside of the native app might be a problem.

How do I export a figure to Blender? How do I export a figure to Blender? I want the rigging, and if possible the morphs. It would be good to be able to transfer poses and animations- especially facial expressions- although some of this is actually easier in Blender.
So far, when I try to export in FBX format, it comes into Blender all twisted up, even a plain G8F figure in the original A pose. Any idea what I might be doing wrong? I started with the default settings in the export dialogue, and tried changing a few items, but am not getting anything better.
What is 'backward compatible' for G8 and what isn't?What is 'backward compatible' for G8 and what isn't? It seems that the expressions for V4 do not work with G8. I see that some autofit stuff will transfer if you know what figure it was for, but some won't (such as shoes for Michael- the fitter doesn't offer the choice 'shoes' so it just dumps them on the ground).
While I can see how technical issues might prevent some kinds of backward compatibility, it's frustrating not to have a clear, up-front indication of the kinds of things that can work with different figures. Is there some documentation on this?
The "Powered by Hot Pockets" Complaint ThreadComplaint: Windows10 feature update 2004 appears to have broken my NikonTransfer application that imports images from my camera to my computer.
At first I thought that is was the camera not working, but I removed the memory card from the camera and put it directly into the memory slot on the computer and initiated the NikonTransfer application with identical non-results.
So, then I was worried that the images on the camera were scrambled. But no, when viewed as a simple folder of images, PhotoshopBridge sees them just fine. So, I guess I need to go looking for an updated copy of NikonTransfer or possibly researching the Internet to see if other people are having problems with image transfer utilities after upgrading to Win10-2004.Non-complaint: I got my pictures into the computer the old fashioned way.
Among them was the one I took this morning of the baby groundhog that has been appearing in the yard outside my kitchen window. Last year I showed y'all a photo of the adult groundhog that was living under the storage shed on that property. Well, I haven't seen the big one since late fall, but now this little one has been sniffing around in the mornings. Yeah, yeah, I know, hard to tell the size of the critter without any size comparison, but take my word for it, it's smaller. About the size of a cat instead of a small dog.The OMG department: Tomorrow's the first day of summer.
Edited to add: Ooh,ooh, there's two of them. Two little groundhogs. No sign of momma yet, but two small ones out on the lawn at the same time for about 30 seconds.
w10 has become bvuggy and unstable lately. insideous happenings.

XTransfer Module 1- Genesis 3 to Genesis 8 Morph Converter (Commercial)Makes total sense.
XTransfer cannot find some files because it searches drive E:, but on my PC there is no drive E, only C: and F:
Why are you looking for files on a drive that does not exist?
I have already uninstalled and installed the XTransfer module several times with Daz Imstall Manager, but the error persists.
See attached image. You have a setting somewhere that X transfer is looking for I'd guess; it's either a bug, or something set incorrectly by the user; we don't like admitting it, but we do all make mistakes. Took me an hour yesterday to realise why something wasn't rendering correctly in Blender - called myself some pretty uncomplimentary names once I'd realised.
If uninstalling X transfer hasn't solved then look elsewhere; hopefully Zev0 can offer a suggestion as it may be a bug.
I made some changes:
I changed the letter of the disk to E:
I uninstalled and installed Xtransfer more than twice and now it does recognize the disk, but it has other errors that I mention in the files I send below.
Xtransfer installed and uninstalled it with DIM, I even downloaded it from DAZ3D.com and installed it once with the same results.
I also uninstalled and installed DAZ Studio, and it's still the same, plus PostgreSQL CMS doesn't work for me.
Attachment files with errors and log.txt.Ancient Hindu Devi/Yakshi/Apsara dancer statue for Genesis 8 Female?I know, this is a strange request. But ever since watching the Tomb Raider movie with Angelina Jolie, featuring the giant Hindu statue that comes to life and moves around, I've had the idea of taking one of the curvaceous female sculptures found on the walls of ancient Hindu temples, and making it into a posable character in Daz Studio.
This is a very odd idea, I know, but I've already found some awesome ancient Hindu-like backgrounds that might work with this idea, and I really want to make this a reality, a sort of fantasy adventure render series where this statue comes to life and begins dancing for the viewer. I'm attaching specific examples of these statues that I think are ideal for my design.

If I were to throw some cash into the project, would someone be willing to help me out? Maybe create a morph and texture set for G8F?
AIUTO...CHI CONOSCE L’ITALIANO?

Invece DAZ e molto particolare". Io l'ho dato a DAZ.
