The Mac FAQ
Not sure if this was asked/answered in this forum yet but at 99 pages Ill just take a hit on my social credit score.....
Does Daz run well on a macbook air/pro.(looking to get the M4 model), viewpoint hang ups? stuttering?
Say you got the 48gb of "unified memory" could you load in say 40gb of models/textures and render it out without "cpu fall back"? if so how long (estamite range is fine) would you say a 40gb scene would take to render on the basic loadout of 5k samples?
Ive got a 4090m so I know it wont be as fast but being limited to 16gb vram is getting....annoying and battery life is a joke at best 3 hours....
I also looked into the rog flow with 96gb of shared but its not Nvidia so it cant use iray there either.......
Comic - "One Pagers"Here's a little AI generated comic strip I create with very little effort as can clearly be seen to kind drive home the messages to this young guy I was trying to mentor. His thing was writing these LOTR derivative novels largely using AI and just changing around the character names and what not. He largely used AI to generate these works and they were quite atrocious. If you search "Dondorale," you'll surely discover an endless stream of related, errr ehh hemmm, works online. I digress. I became frustrated at how often he failed to even get the gist of my advice in plain English, often taking the exact opposite message than what I intended. For example, if I'd say, "Hey Bud, it's ok to use Chat GPT to generate an outline for a story you want to write or to improve how you've written a paragraph, but don't try to publish the raw output as your original work," he might take, "You mean, Chat GPT will write the story for me? Now I can turn out 10 novels a year."
Anyways, this one is for Jake.

I am confused. After reading the first page of this forum thread I opened https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-fv-dramatic-side-sweep-hair-for-genesis-9 thinking that it wasn't able to be simulated and wasn't a curve product. But I found that yes, it is able to be simulated and has curves and used Omni shaders.
So was all the fuss because the artist didn't show it in a variety of wind-blown styles?
I am posting this because this thread almost discouraged me to not buy a product I was interested in and to avoid an artist I had not tried before. I took a chance because I could use the style, regardless of how it moved. It is nice since it does.
Show us some examples of your simulated results. I don't own this hair.
cant log inBut you can log into the forum and store? Have a look at GoDaddy certificates issue
3D-Printing from DAZ Figures ?I would go over to the DAZ Blender forum and ask them. Basically, you'll export to Blender and then search or several Blender methods that will all likely have multiple tutorials for you to follow.
V3Digitimes Daz Studio 2025 (6) compatibility StatusThanks a lot for your answer!!! I'm still waiting to see if people are interested to test the update, I prefer to have your help on products you know well or you use on a regular basis. Maybe I'll also post elsewhere on the forum to have a better visibility. I don't feel like spending too much time on the tests, since updating can be considerably long sometimes (today 12 hours for 30% of a single script update!).... Thanks anyway for your answer, I feel "less alone" ;)

i mean the OP is literally an invitation for people to post what you have posted.
3D-Printing from DAZ Figures ?Is there a thread, or forum, or tutorial, or intstiructions about how to prepare DAZ3D figures (for which you've bought a printing liscence) for 3D printing services to make you a solid figure out of resin or whatever material?
To make a human character into a solid piece of resin, you have separate files for the human body shape (which contains eyeballs and eyelashes and teeth etc), and you've got clothing that are put on the figure, and shoes, and hair, etc.
How do you amalgamate all these separate DAZ products into one file so it can be 3D printed in resin? What are the things you have to consider? What are the things you have to do to prepare the files?
I don't know where to start.
Thanks!
Exporting a figure with ALL maps in the mtl file?Exporting a figure with ALL maps in the mtl file?
I am working on fixing seams right now but the main maps are fine there are some weird things going on in the "internal" maps like bump, normal ect..... I use 3DCoat for all the skin works but never had to fix those kinds of areas as they always exported properly from my little program I use (online here: https://cpetry.github.io/NormalMap-Online/ (I pay the guy a little on a monthly basis as I like this way of exporting those kinds of maps) but for some reason I got some bad feedback about seams. While I think they are VERY minimal I won't be granted a PASS until they are resolved. So the 3DCoat forum mods suggested I just export the OBJ and the MTL should have all those and will load them all automatically into 3DCoat. That didn't happen
I did turn off all the body parts I wasn't going to need before exporting from DS, I only needed the skin and nails but upon looking over the exported OBJ in my UV Mapping program ALL of the surfaces came along for the ride so had to do allot of clean up and of course when I saved it out any info in the MTL file was lost in relation to included maps. I wish there was a way to hand write an MTL file but it's probably ALLOT of work and I have 4 maps (Diffuse, Bump, Normal, Gloss) to include for each body part.
So my question is basically this: Is there a way to properly export from DAZ Studio with ALL maps in place that I need and exclude parts that I don't need? Or is there a pay for script in the store that you can link me to that will do what I need done? Hell, maybe I already have it but just can't remember.
Thanks so much
Richard

Do you use DIM at all? If so, you can get to the README from there, if there is one. Some older products don't have one, and a lot of products that came from other stores don't have them either. If the product is in your product library, you can do a search for it there and get to the README from there as well. The README page has always been the way it is now with the SKU range.
My favorite is whole products index pages missing. This has gone on for a long time.

It was there for me, yesterday. However, the server is down (503 Service Unavailable) right now.
I reported that in the sales errors thread and Cris said there was a planned maintenance ongoing, it should be back later.
OK, thanks!
I have reported this before and nothing changed. It is not just one index page. On a previous notice it was all pages above product sku 100,000.
In my opinion this is a BIG problem since read me files tell you a lot about the product including which morphs it has and which models are separate geometry and that can influence an informed customer's buying decision and help reduce requests for product refund.
Some FilaToon QuestionsCheers barbult. I was intentionally avoiding the plugin threads since I didn't want to disrupt them with my noob questions.
Yesterday was the first time I ever used FilaToon, so at the moment I'm just trying to get the very basics understood. I did search for "Rim" on here, but the results are nothing but a bunch of random non-related threads where the letters "rim" have been pulled from the middle of other words, so searching was like looking for a needle in a haystack.
To be honest I never even bothered searching for video tutorials, but I'll take a look today. I would rather see some official documentation on it though, so if you have a link to a FilaToon thread (that is not plugin related), that woud be great and very much appreciated.Read Me's - don't Exist anymore????Leana said:

The alpha made a shortcut for me, and it shows up when I type "Studio" into the Windows search bar (it's just not showing up under 'installed apps')
It should be added to the Start menu (Windows logo menu) but it won't appear under the uninstall/update list since DIM manages the installation.
Ah, that makes sense. Cheers :)
not getting emails againAnother whole day has gone by. This is still 100% broken. I only get sales emails now. I do not get any notifications of forum postings anymore.
Some FilaToon QuestionsNo, Rim is not the outline, The outlines are created by using a Geoshell. There are render settings for filament. Shadows can be adjusted in the Filament Render Settings node, but are sometimes difficult to control. There are several threads in the forum dedicated to FilaToon. Please take a look at those, so we don't have to repeat everything here. Also, Jay Versluis has a video. Daz3D has a video tutorial. There are a couple useful product in the store for converting objects with Iray shaders to Filatoon. V3D FilaToon Converter, Manager and Tools and Easy FilaToon. Each of those products has a forum thread to help uses with it, too.
