hjake, memcneil70, TesseractSpace, Charlie Judge and those who still have open tickets in regard to the credit for Premier, what are your ticket numbers? I spoke with them to get info about it, and they wanted the info so they could look into it.

I did answer your question in the premier forum. ( https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/726786/expected-response-time-to-tickets-from-daz/p1 )

I find it quite disconcerting that I have not received a confirmation of my membership expiry date or if I will be notified by email atleast 30 days prior to my expiry like EVERY other subscription I have ever had. It has been 5 weeks.

In this case we were able to get your expiry date and I PMed you, but that was when email notifications were down so you won't have seen it.

Imagine any other business behaving this way with its customers. Does this seem like stellar customer service to you?

I have not even recieved a reply to my support ticket indicating how many customers are ahead of me in the customer service queue.

hi richard. thank you i did get your pm on apr 30 and that answers my main question. i have added a note in my ticktick for nov 1 to decide about renewal. i will close my support ticket.

it is funny i did not get an email notice of pm rcvd since i am pretty sure that use to happen, however the last pm i got was feb 2024. back when we used telegrams to send msgs. laugh

Silly question: How many serious shops have a search function so bad that users actually seriously consider trying to fix it themselves by creatively coming with browser tweaks to get it to work? (2) I've never heard of it before you asked the question. In theory it would be possible, but ... in practice it could be quite a challenge.

If you are serious about Carrara plugin development, I think you will be better off with MSVS and use the experience and knowledge already available here on this forum.

    I use VS2012 UPD4 with toolset v110; Visual C/C++ runtime 2008; Windows Kits 8.1 and Apple's QuickTimeSDK for Windows

  • Custom Product and Smart Content

About the .dsa/.dsx files related to Metadata, by default, Daz will place them by default inside 'My Library/Runtime/Support' but you're free to move it once created: Daz is checking every /Runtime/Support folders its knows about to check where the files storing the metadata you're currently editing are located.

What I'm doing in that respect is generally:

    1. Place every files related to the product I want to create Metadata for inside a Library called Metadonnees (Metadata in French), one that I'm only using to create Metadata for a product.

    2. Load every elements of that product (so for clothes, I'm loading every part of it, either through an outfit preset if it's available, or all of them).

    3. In the Scene tab, I'm selecting every elements related to the product.

    4. Right Click on the Scene tab > Edit > Set Default Compatibility Base

    5. Click on the … in the top right corner of the windows to open the list of all Compatibility Bases known by your installation of Daz Studio.

    6. Click on the hamburger icon in the top right corner and click on Create New Root Compatibility Base

    7. Name it as you want (to avoid conflict, if your chosen name is a bit too generic, add something to the name: an example would be character by Mousso usually are MSO [character name]) and copy-paste it for good measure, then click Accept

    8. Paste the name you just typed in the search field which should automatically select it in the list below or select it if you only typed part of the name, then click Accept to close that window, then Accept again to finally tell Daz to set that Compatibility Base for all the items selected: it'll create automatically new sub-root Compatibility base for most selected item based on something that is escaping me right now.

Note: you can also create it manually, by creatin a New Compatibility Base then a New Sub-root Compatibility Base, it's just easier to let Daz in charge of that part of the work, especially when there is a lot of sub-root bases to create.

The next step will happens in the Metadata editor so in the case of your figure

    9. In the list of Assets, select the .duf  file that will load it and in the Compatibilities Base tab, click 'Add a new compatibility base to file' and paste the name of the root compatibility base in the search field.

    10. Click on it and open it to select the sub-root compatibility base you want to attach to that product, click Accept.

Once you have saved the change, you now have a Compatibility base attached to your figure, one that you'll now be able to set it in the Compatibilities row for all the presets specific to your figure (like poses, materials, wearables presets, etc).

Note that if you created a prop, let's say a weapon, for your figure, if you have a .duf file to load the prop alone, it'll have its own compatibility base and it'll not have Compatibilities set to your figure: you'll have to create a wearable preset (to load the prop where it should be loaded on the figure, so for a weapon, in one of the hand of the figure) which will not have any Compatibility Base but will have your figure sets as Compatibilities.

You best bet if you don't know how to set some metadata, once you have the basics in mind is to open a product with metadata made by Daz and usually, you'll see how they are labelling everything (note: mistakes are not unheard even with metadata created by Daz but at one point, you'll know how to detect them too).

Bought a brand new PC with a 5090, got my whole setup and library moved over, and it seems that Daz still doesn't support the 50 series?

Whenever I try to render, it just ends immediately with a blank image (not black).

Any updates on when the this issue with the 50 series will be resolved? Or has it been resolved, and I'm having a separate issue?

You need to install the Daz Studio 2025 Alpha to get support for the 5000 series GPUs. DS 4.X will never support to 5000 series GPUs. Unfortunately the Daz Studio 2025 Alpha is bare bones at this point. Almost no plugins work and many scripts fail. As named, it is an Alpha release, with a ways to go before being even a Beta. You can install it along side your other Daz Studio release(s) with DIM.

Wow! Thank you so much! I'm back on the road and rendering, just like that.

I had spent so long trying to figure out that issue.

I hadn't even considered that Daz' public software wouldn't work with the biggest graphic card company's newest cards

Also, luckily, I don't even know what a script is, in a Daz context, so maybe I won't be too burdened by the Alpha's state.

    Again, thank you!

Here are some forum threads that offer some information about the DS 2025 Alpha:

  • There's Always Another Sale Thread -- Discussions Only Pt 4

    tsroemi said:

Yeah, with today's sale, same as yesterday: nice offer, but just nothing for me in the buy-ins that I'd like at the 'new' price. I think this policy of buy-ins being exclusively from the new stuff of one day has really taken over too much of the sales by now. Imo, it would make much more sense to ask for any new release as buy-in. But well, it's not my store wink

My guess: they may have been bitten where it hurt with unforseen stacking discounts and allowing offer to work with any brand new item would pretty much open the door to such discounts.

Overall, while they are losing sales from people who are not finding anything enticing among the brand new items to purchase something, not having discounts stacking through the roofs may be an advantage worse pursuing even from an overall revenue point of view, to say nothing of keeping PAs happy, which are the other people Daz has to keep happy.

It also make for easier to understand sales for consumers (and for the people creating them), because, sure, it's can be fun when you did found than by adding this item and this item to a cart, everything else in that cart is dirt cheap, but if you missed the trick and you read a message on the forum explaining that 'Hey, did you see that by buying this and that, you got a 96+ % discount on these items ?', it could sour the enjoyement of getting a shiny new product to play with.

DAZ 3D ought to give an option in DAZ Studio for users to donate their manually created filters and then perusee them and integrate them into their store's filters.

Who's gonna peruse? It's enough to reply to a customer support ticket within a month.

  • Best way to fix dforce hair that has parts that don't simulate?

I'm working on a render where my character has their head leaning back, and I'm using https://www.daz3d.com/eirgrid-hair-for-genesis-9. When I simulate the hair, most of it works, but the braids don't seem to have dforce applied. They just stay static. Am I missing something? How could I fix this most easily? The back braid in particular is jarring because when I pose it to get it to hang down, it just kinks in one spot like below. That's from posing, not dforce. Dforce doesn't change it at all.
I don't have a lot of experience adjusting weight maps or that sort of thing, but I am great at following directions or tutorials when I know the direction I should be going. :) (Same goes for rigging if adding bones would be the best option. Zero experience there, but if I know the terms to search for for a tutorial, I'm sure I can figure it out.)
    Thanks!

  • Piggybacking off my Graft fiasco post: understanding new Pose Library/Assets
The short short version is this. The new Asset Library is kind of like the old pose library, but for basically anything. An asset library is just a .blend file. In the settings you can specify locations to different libraries. As for the screen shot you just need to have a camera in the scene and Blender does the rest for you. I wont say it's perfect, but it gets the job done. Theres a coupel videos on YouTube that explain it in more detail. Soa search. All in all its not that bad.

  • Universal tool not working in Daz3D 4.24

    da_kovacs said:

    Halcon Bluesky said:

da_kovacs I will show you what to do.

The Daz Studio version I have is the same 4.24.

I have switched to Texture Shaded in the Viewport for easy working, if you choose NVIDIA Iray View, it will be slower to work with.

Below the Pesrpective Drop down menu, there is a "Cube" called View: Vantage (LMB) | Orbit (LMB + Drag)

Position the Mouse pointer over, pressing the Left Mouse Button and try to "move" the Viewport Left, Right, Up or Down.

I use this tool very frequently to work with the characters or the Environment.

    Hope this helps you.

Edit: I am Using Mattymanx, MMX-Dark DS - A Dark user style for Daz Studio

    Find it in the forum.

    Hi There!

Thanks for the suggestions. Using the cube, orbit, pan and the other options work perfectly. My main concern is that, this is the only way I can move anything in Viewport. I can't move the environment, just the character or object directly. I just watched a tutorial recently and the guy way moving the "space" in Viewport freely, I mean just by selecting Universal Tool. Also, I just noticed that when Universal Tool is selected on your end, it turns yellow. Mine doesn't do anything at all. By just looking at it I'm not even sure which option is active from the bar..it is really weird.

Are you wanting to adjust the view, or move items in the scene? You can do the former, regardless of the active tool, using the buttons at top-right or mouse-drags plus modifiers (which you can configure at the bottom of the WIndow>Workspace>Customise dialogue - I use alt-ctrl for rotate and orbit, alt-shift for pan and dolly, and ctrl-alt-shift for zoom and bank)
