Not sure where the best place for this.

Anyway, I'm working on a project where I'm using the G8 figures to create morphs using image references, then averaging those together to, ideally, get something recognizable to the characters or people I'm making the morphs of. For example, if I wanted to make a morph of Batman, I'd get dozens upon dozens of comic images, match the figure's pose and shape to those images, and average all the resulting morphs together.

The obvious problem with this is that each individual morph has less and less influence on the final shape the more there are, especially when using over 100 morphs. The result is that there is little obvious change from the base figure when using that many individual morphs, which is an issue. I'm adamant about doing this in a mathematically correct way (that is, the total percentage of all morphs used to make the final one equal 100%), but I don't know if there's a way to make the compounded changes more obvious without "cheating".

I had a particular celebrity I had in mind. I would want to get a genesis 8 head morph of them along with a good body/face texture set that really captures their likeness in a good way.

I haven't seen a formal definition, but if you mean the check box in morph loading I believe that differences below the threshold are treated as zero - it's a way to avoid creating unwanted deltas (which add to the data size) for roundign errors during import/export and the like.

Yes, that is the check box I mean to ask about under morph loading. And, differences between what exactly? 

Difference between the position on the base model and the position in the imported mesh - that is what a delta is.

Hi Folks

I'm not an expert with Daz, and I've run into a problem after many tweaks with morph products:
Managed to get a perfect head, but in the process, the neck area displays a "twisted" area, that I'd like to smooth out.
Applying a smooth modifyer ruins the face, so not sure how to target the problem...

Any help appreciated...

Good day everyone.

There is a problem with clothes in the Unreal Engine 4 game engine, if you transfer a figure with clothes, then when the animation is played, the skin of the figure penetrates through the clothes.

I need to get rid of these skin penetrations.

I tried to hide unnecessary skin areas under clothes, but there are not always enough polygons on the figure to accurately remove them under clothes. I tried to make a transparency mask for the figure skin, the same result is not very good, it did not work out to 100% fit the mask to the clothes and in some places holes are visible. I think that the only option is to tightly weld the clothes to the figure, but I don’t know how to do it correctly in Daz3D. When exporting a model to FBX, you can choose to connect the clothes and the figure, but it does not work 100% and the skin is still visible in some places.

I really hope that someone can tell me how to solve this problem with visible skin from under clothes or how to weld clothes to a figure tightly in Daz3D.

Did you do something special with the 2nd picture re pose and morph? Whenever I do a pose like that - really anything with lifted arms - I get wonky biceps and triceps, sometimes wonky traps and lats.

(Why do those subtle scars on his torso make me feel... excited?)

The pose is from Composed Poses for Genesis 8 Males ('Pose 01M', descriptively), but I rearranged the right arm a lot and the left a bit because they were not having a nice time with the hood at all.  Also, I have both Ultimate Natural Bend Morphs on (I totally forgot that was its name until I had to make an educated guess at what the U of UNBM meant...), which does a lot of heavy lifting with some poses.  And in part I think it's because a lot of his right arm got obscured by the hood anyway.     I usually avoid poses like this like the plague (same problem, I spent longer sorting out Alex's arm in one picture than I did setting up the rest of the scene and it still looked iffy) but this one worked out surprisingly well.

I'll admit to getting a bit... uh... distracted by his stomach as well...

Do you feel like Ultimate Natural Bend Morphs is worth it? Does it help with posing buff characters? I look at the promos and it doesn't seem like it makes that big a difference...

After renders and proddings (and swearings), the effect is pretty subtle, so it's a real case of YMMV, but it does a fantastic job on armpits.

It's more subtle here, but he's got slightly more defined shoulderblades.

There are some more noticeable adjustments here, mostly in the hip, some corrective work in the elbow, and the armpit.  I never realised how lacking in armpits G8M is before.   Of course, this one is a premade pose so you'd get better shoulders starting again using the pose sliders and with some manual adjustments, but I live in hope one day maybe DAZ will realise there's more to a shoulder than a ball-jointed doll approach.  (Who am I kidding? G1's were iffy too, but G1 had excellent linked pose controls when moving eyes and G8 is a real step down from those, so... win some lose some, I guess, but there are some lessons they seem determined not to learn.)

And Yve's pose with Steffan, which is what I meant by the hood obscuring the iffier problems.

facet order isn't relevant to morphs - a morph is just a list of deltas (changes to the posiution of each vertex, what you see when the morph is at 100%), it is utterly indifferent to the way those vertices are hooked up to make facets.

I'm more a parameter dial spinner kind of guy and depend on the talents of others to create all the base figures and morphs that I use. :)

I did create a set of stylized/toon presets for Apollo Maximus back in my Poser days and made them freeware.  Those depended on Apollo Maximus and Capsce's (CDI) add-on morph pack for him.  I had a lot of fun creating those and they generated a bit of interest back in the day.  I also created one of the early third party male anatomical elements for Poser characters.  That prop is laughably bad by today's standards.  

I do keep telling myself that I'll learn Blender and maybe look at getting into ZBrush for character creation.  I think the process is more involved than I'd like it to be and I'd rather be dabbling with rendering. LOL!  Or I'm lazy. :)

Always thankful for the wonderful artists and creators here that produce assets that I can use and art that inspires me to do better!

ciao ragazzi alla fine sono passato dalla parte del nemico/amico....ho abbandonato il sistema operativo mac e installato windows 7 su mac. ora una cosa non mi è chiara.... come faccio a riportare tutti i miei file e librerie dalla memoria esterna nuovamente su daz ? nel mac si faceva diversamente.....presumo vadano copiati, ma poi trasferiti dove?

Per i prodotti ufficiali DAZ basta che avvii Instal Manager e mettendo le tue credenziali  ti appariranno i pacchetti tra i prodotti che puoi scaricare.
Per quelli non DAZ, devi prima estrarli e poi puoi:

• copiarli nella cartella libreria di DAZ ( Documenti\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library) e avviare DAZ. Te lo sconsiglio poichè così mischi tutta la libreria.
• Oppure copiarli in una cartella qualunque del tuo PC e poi avviare DAZ e aprire la scheda CONTENT LIBRARY. Ora col destro del mouse premi su DAZ STUDIO FORMATS e selezioni ADD A BASE DIRECTORY. Gli dai il percorso della cartella in cui hai i file. Così crei un nuovo gruppo di cartelle DAZ separate dalle altre. Ripeti la stessa operazione per POSER FORMATS dandogli però questa volta la cartella RUNTIME.

Il secondo metodo puoi ripeterlo per più di una volta... così puoi separare vari pacchetti e organizare meglio la libreria. Puoi anche eliminare la directory da dentro DAZ (senza cancellare i file) per magari disabilitare qualche morph troppo pesante e poi riaggiungerla.

I entered a version of "Armand Yuji" in the It's Raining Men contest.

I upped the image dimensions to 2036 x 2880 (W x H) pixels.  Also rendered at SubD level 4 and turned down the vascularity morph I was using to give a more subtle look.  Deleted one of the 3 ghost lights (behind the head) since it didn't contribute much to the hair backlighting.  The rest used the same settings as from my earlier render.  This took about 13 minutes to render in Iray on my MacBook Pro 8-core i9 in CPU only mode.

Hope there will be a way to transfer purchase history for products bought on HiveWire and available at Rendo - I already have my purchases backed up, but I'll wait to purchase the tiger and caribou until more info on the store move. Unfortunately, it looks like HW pulled the Mini Morph Pack for the HiveWire Big Dog, so no fix for it and the Dog Bandana to work on the updated dog I guess...
