Applying a face morph
Is it possible to apply a face morph from a mesh that does not offer separate head and body morphs. I want to apply a 50% face from Josh Crockett morph to my old chap figure. (See image)
When I tried it with the whole mesh I really like the face but unfortunately the legs at not what I want.Is it possible to apply a face morph
Unity: Introducing the all-new Daz to Unity Bridge & native Unity File Formatsmichalstangel said:
Hello,
I didn't try it yet, as I am still waiting to jump on to HDRP due to some missing Unity assets compatibility, but I have few questions regarding Daz to Unity Bridge.
1) Is it possible to export figure with separated meshes instead of having one body mesh sitting on one game object (Genesis8(Fe)male.Shape)? It would be usefull for disabling parts of the body if specific part is under the cloths for example. Also maybe there is not necessary to have so many eye materials as I get when exporting through classical DAZ FBX Export now? I saw tutorial from creators of UMA, how to export DAZ to Unity and use for UMA (not using myself) and major step was spliting meshes and getting rid of some redundant materials:
UMA 301 - Part 6: Splitting and Finalizing our Model - YouTube
2) Is there an option to use Morph Export Rules as it is possible in FBX Export? I need to export vast amount of morphs with every figure and currently have Excel macro creating different rules files for me. Selecting 100+ morhps every export would be atrocious.
3) Is root bone game object (hip) still under the Genesis8(Fe)male, on same level as object with meshes, as is with FBX Export? Would be probably better if it's parented directly to main root game object, so it would be easier to create LODs.
Anyway, it's great that you've started with this tool. Hoping that you will continue to improve it, as it should be huge time saver :-) Thanks.
1. No we don't currently support exploding the submeshes out into separate objects like that. You coud do this in Unity if you wanted by looping through the submesh and generating new meshes from that though. While it's not "ideal" a workaround is to use an invisible or no-render shader on the parts you want to hide (not ideal though).
2. The morph export dialogue supports saving a preset, I'm not sure if that is what you're looking for though.
3. The hip and the meshes are in the same level.
Expression organizer?I think expressions and poses are a mess at the moment. The thumbnails are most often not very helpful, naming is not intuitive (naming an expression as "Expression 01" does not help much), the tip files with larger images most often do not exist, and the images on the expression morph sliders are way too small to see anything. Given that, the metadata are often not maintained well, so its is a lot of wild guessing and trial and error. An expression or pose set for multiple generations or for male and female characters will add to that mess.
If anyone comes up with a "Turbo Pose" or "Turbo Expressions" tool, I would immediately buy it, even for full price.

For morphs they do work on export, you need to ensure you export the morphs, in the Daz To Unity window check "Enable Morphs" then click "Choose Morphs", find the morphs you want, select them, and then hit "Add For Export".
You should end up with an asset like the following:

Thanks for the reply Jesse but this is exaclty what I'm doing and I'm not having any luck at all. When I export a character I add morphs from the list and they appear on the right in to export and I hit accept. I then finish the export to Daz and there are no blendshapes in my skinned mesh renderer. I've now tried this on a fresh install of unity and fresh install of DAZ trying to figure this out. Neither the Genesis 8 Female or Male models will export with any of the selected morphs. I have no trouble getting them in import using FBX exports so it's something with the bridge. I'm using the latest version of the recommened unity engine, 2019.4.15f1 so maybe it's a version problem. I'll reach out to tech support and see if they can help.
Can you tell me the exact asset and morph names you're trying to use (sounds like you tried the base genesis 8 figure), I'll see if I have the same problem.
DAZ vs BLENDER... Help me understandNow ironically here is the same G8 female exported as FBX from Daz studio 4.12.086.
Her phoneme, morph based lipsync& facial animation
comes in perfectly just as it does for the Iclone/ CC3 Avatars in my FBX to Blender based pipeline.Note all of the keyframes for her facial morphs in the blender Shape key editor as they should be
But Sadly her body animation is wonky& distored to the point of uslessness ,via FBX from DS, unlike the Avatars from CC3 which come into Blender with perfect ,foot planted Baked FK fidelity and facial animation.
I should note that bone based body animations work pretty good via Diffeo for animations imported after convert to MHX.
If you can suss out the correct way to get facial/lipsync imported, via diffeo, again please share for those who plan to use diffeo for external rendering in Blender cycles /EEVEE
and are being advised to "skip Daz studio" and animate everything in blender.DAZ vs BLENDER... Help me understandthe attached zip containisan animated pose file(duf) of the G8 female speaking made with Daz own mimic live 64 bit.
it is facial phoneme , morph based not face bone rig animation
I cannot find the original audio
but you should be able to load it into Daz studio
and see her mouth talking.
this facial lipsync does not load ,via Diffeo, as diffeo doe not seem to load the Blend shape keys for her lip movement.
it does not matter if I use import action, import pose or even convert to MHX..no lip synch/facial animation.
give it go and post your findings as I am sure Daz studio animators would like to know their options for speaking Characters exported to Blender.
Bebe High for Genesis 8 FemaleThis was my first go at it. I got sucked down a rabbit hole after considering going full tilt on a "Christmas Punk" scene but had troubles finding and converting a Nixie Tube ornament. In any case, here is where she is so far. I was also thinking of the value of this character as an add-in partial morph to almost any figure I have in my library! Great job @PedroFurtadoArts!

Saving character presets with smoothing?Saving a character with smoothing modifier doesn't seem to work, when I load the character the smoothing modifier is gone. So I thought I'd be clever and just copy the part from a scene subset, but then I noticed something weird: The information regarding the smoothing modifier is already in the characters .duf file, so no need to copy anything, I guess Daz just ignores it when it reads "Type: character" in the preset.
Now I know we can use a post script when saving a character, but I have no idea if it's even possible to add a smoothing modifier that way.
So is there a way to save a character preset with smoothing modifier?
PS: Yes I know I could save it as a scene subset, (or even a smoothed morph) but that's not what I want.
The Doctor Appreciation threadUnderstood but in my defense is the first time I've gotten anywhere near a real Jodie Whittaker morph

If you already have a set of Ken's birds, and he did an update say in 2018, 2019 or 2020, is there a way to get those updates? I recall many years ago there was. He had changed the rigging or something.
Yes, you can (or at least could) send his a message through the Hivewire forum (there's info about this on there somewhere - probably in his updates thread) and send him proof of purchase - I assume you originally bought them in the Daz store? I think I sent a screenshot of my account Product Library filtere to show just his stuff. Then they add those products to your HW account and you can download them from there to get the updated versions.
Only thing is, I don't know how quickly they will be able to do it at the moment, I'm guessing they are busy closing down/transferring. It only took a day or two when I did it in the Summer.

I'll be continuing the transfer program up to HW's last week and then be restarting it again at my new home. There's a lot of updates available.
[Newbie Question] What can do with daz studio? So there are a few thingsa I can answer though do keep in mind that I don't consider myself an expert on the subject though I have decent experience with the software.

2. Is there any advantage over the Zbrush-3dsMax workflow to make full humanbody and cloth/armor?
You can't really compare these two programs like that. For one reason because Daz Studio can't be used to create 3D items, it's only used to pose and set up sceneries. But you can't actually edit the individual props and actors. At best you can change their surfaces but that's about it. As soon as we're talking about creating clothing or other changes (such as 'morphs' for example) then you'd be looking at software such as ZBrush or maybe Hexagon.
But also when it comes to posing then you can't compare these environments like this. Yes, you can build sceneries in ZBrush but it's hardly as easy as it is in DS. For example you can't "just" add several actors and props to your scenery and then expect to have the option to place them wherever you need them to be. It can be done, sorta, but it's hardly the same as just loading what you want and then positioning the material. As mentioned: ZBrush is an editor first and foremost.
3. Based on the plug-in called Goz
Can I move the Genesis8 character to the Zbrush, sculp and come back to the Daz studio?
still the morph and rig remain?Yes. Better yet, you can even do this the other way around as well, ZBrush also supports DS out of the box. However, I'm still experimenting with this myself and there are quite a few things I still need to learn about it.
5. Is Dazstudio character can be automatically rigging?
Not to my knowledge. It can actually be quite tricky to set this up.
6. Is Dazstudio able to make an animation file?
An animation needs to be rendered and it can then be saved in a movie file format (avi and the likes), this might be a good read on the subject:

Oh my oh my! thank you for that! it save me a lot of time! i really appreciate that!

The product page under the heading of 3D printing says it will exsport an object file that you can then load into any 3D printer slicing , however i am unclear if this would work for the purposes of building morph Targets in Des Studio software
I expect that's .stl or the like.
writeAuth: Couldn't open configuration file for writingI have tried to install Daz Studio and LAMH on my laptop:
I used Daz Central to install Daz Studio and LAMH. Without LAMH: No crash. With LAMH: Daz Studio crashes when "Creating Main Window" loading text occurs.
Reinstalling LAMH did not help. Either did reinstalling Daz Studio.
Installing Daz Central, Daz Studio and LAMH created thise folders:C:\Users\[UserName]\OneDrive\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\lookatmyhairAM (Contains the "lookatmyhair.cfg")

C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D (Contains an "Install Manager" folder)
C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library (A content folder)
Doing the same on my workstation makes this:
C:\Daz 3D\Applications\64-bit\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4

Why does Daz Studio install itself in a "C:\Daz 3D" folder instead of "C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D"?
And why does the LAMH error message occur? And why does it crash on my laptop?Face Transfer - Face Transfer Shape > hexagon issuemaking a composite morph like that breaks any links to corrective morphs and joint adjustments (and also, generally, doesn't permit sharing/selling the composite morph). It's better to right-click and put the parameters pane in Edit mode, right-click to create a new property, set that to 100%, and right-click on the slider>ERC Freeze, then (usually) accept the defaults - that gives a single slider to control the morph without breaking anything else.

Creating Outfit For specific Morph, without outfit "Fiting" into the morph.Hey guys! i think this might be an already touched topic, but the ones i found are a few years old, so i wanted to be 100% sure there's no other way.
So what i wanted to do is to make the Seventh Sister from STAR WARS: Rebels, into Daz3D, i wanted to make her with a similar toonish style from the one from ST:R, so i quickly made a Morph trying to imitate her cartoonish style, after that i tried fiting an older outfit (With a chest plate and shin armor and already fitted for the Default G8 body) into this new form, but both the shins and the chest plate got horribly misshaped after fitting, so i decided to make her outfit in Blender, using the morph i made as base, so yes i am making an outfit with a morph as the base.
After that i grab the W.I.P outfit and i fit it onto the morph back on DAZ Studio, but the outfit now the oufit looks horrible! a lot of clipping shrunken areas and overall a massive mess, before i proceed any further i want to be sure if there's a way for the outfit to be rigged to the body, but not using the morphs of the G8 body.
So there's a way? please let me know and thanks for stoping by :)
Face Transfer - Face Transfer Shape > hexagon issueHello all;
I created a face with face transfer and face transfer shapes - the character looks and works fine. However after i bridge to Hexagon and back to DAZ the eyes are poking thru the side of the head
See attached FTandFTS.jpg (before hexagon morph) - After Hexagon.jpg is the result thats "broken"
Thanks for any advice and help
