  • Exporting a custom morph so it can be used. Help

You don't need to export it, you just save it as a Morph Asset (File -> Save As -> Support Assets -> Morph Asset) and fill out the dialog box that comes up after clicking that.

  • Exporting a custom morph so it can be used. Help

I made a custom morph for the morphing python's head. How do I export it so I can use it only any morphing python I load into a scene. (As it is now I have to have a save file of the morph to import into scenes) It would be more convenient if I didn't have to do so.

  • "Coming Soon" Diigitals timer on main Daz page?

    kyoto kid said:

...my interest immediately went *poof* after looking at their site. as it appears "what you see is all you get" no morphing no blending with other shapes.  I don't think I've ever rendered a single figure sold here which I haven't morphed the bejeezus out of, save maybe for the original Sadie and Sam as well as ones like the various robots and critters which are pretty limited..

What makes you think you won't be able to morph her? The Diigitals agency doesn't sell 3d models, they sell a service where you can get these recognizable models to wear your clothes. So for them, having the face stay the same is really important. But once you send that model to Daz, it could be different. And Daz is all about the morphs.

But maybe you're right. Maybe you won't be able to morph her. We really don't have a lot of info yet... Will she be a G8 or a stand-alone figure? Will we be able to use her in commercial projects? Is it even going to be a 3d model or just an image.... all we know is that it's going to be Shudu and an NFT. (I do doubt that it would be just an image. As far as I know, Daz doesn't sell images)

But yeah, the NFT thing is a major put off.

The thought of this "high-class" model being used for porn is a little crazy to me.... Are they really going to let Shudu get naked with a bunch of aliens over at one of the other galleries? Doesn't that destroy all their careful marketing? Maybe there will be restrictions... Maybe you will only be able to use her to model SFW stuff. Kinda like having a contract with a real model that refuses to do nudes.

  • Old Surge Protector Damaging External Hard Drives?

FWIW, here's what I'm assuming the OP is talking about. You drop the HDD into the slot, it's open to the air (others are in horizontal enclosures), and hook up a wall adapter to power it. There's also a USB cable for data transfer to the PC's USB input.

If the OP's friend is using wall power I assume he's using something along these lines. Even if it's firewire or whatever...

These are a good idea.  If you're using a fast spinning drive that gets hot, you can just point a small fan at it and cool it down.  I have one.  But the first one I bought was dead on arrival and I had to send it back.  One problem with them though is that the slots open upward, and in a dusty house, dust would settle down into an unused slot.  I solved the problem by covering the unused slot with a piece of paper taped into place along one edge.  If I need to use the 2nd slot I just flip the paper up out of the way.

  • Any way to reduce size of overall Daz library without just uninstalling content?

Seperate your contents into seperate folder, keep the commonly used on fast drive and rarely used on slow drive. Character, morphs, expression, poses, and clothing with morphs have impact on loading speed but it is more CPU bound than HDD bound. Material/props/other figures that is not genesis dont have much impact and thus can be put on slower file.
Drive speed dont have much impact on load time. large amount of the loading time is spend on creating erc formula from morph files. Daz cache them by default on your C drive which hopefully will be an ssd. SSD will make daz more responsive when loading things like icon images and geometrys, but unless your external drive is busy doing other stuff it wont be much slower.

The real solution to slow loading time is to make daz selectively adding stuff as base directory. You can either manually seperate contents or make a script/program to automatically do that which is what I am working on right now.

External USB harddrives have been around for years, some are powered through the USB connection and some have their own transformers.

I've had this for a few months, but I can't find any instructions for it. I saw Drew's video, which was helpful, but did not address my questions and frustrations. I thought this was for zeroing poses and expressions, but it changes shaping morphs, too. It doesn't zero out All shaping, it zeros some and leaves others. Why? What am I doing wrong? I don't understand what the options in the dialog box do and which I should select. How do I use it to zero a figure's POSE without changing the figure's SHAPE? Surely you don't expect me to go through a huge list of things in the dialog box and uncheck all shaping morphs. That would take forever and be incredibly error prone (I've tried and never got it right). Please help me figure this out.

I was unable to figure out a way for the script to detect that a morph alters an expression vs a shape.  The script detects all active morphs.  Unfortunately, you have to uncheck the shaping morphs (which in practice I haven't found it that bad though I may use characters with less morphs than you do)

Thanks for responding. I like to use randomizers to add subtle variations. It can end up with a lot of morphs. I'm sad that there is no quick way to clear a body pose.

I still don't understand the options in the dialog. What are "properties"? How do I know whether to check them or not? How do I know whether to use the zero or replace?  Are there any instructions? The brief help in the dialog itself wasn't enough to make me understand.

Transformations are the BONE rotations only.  Properties are in the parameters pane.  For example, zeroing out hand bones will NOT zero the hand pose if the Left Hand Fist parameter/property is non-zero.

Now that I know what Properties are, what is the difference between Zero Properties and Replace Properties? Replace them with what?

Zero properties just sets the property (e.g., Fist) to zero and that is it.  Replace properties sets the property to zero and then modifies bone rotations to make the bones look like they are still posed by the property.  If Zero Transformations is unchecked, using Replace Properties is useful as it allows you to to remove all the properties but keep the pose (e.g., the hand will still be in a fist but not controlled by the property).  Have you ever zeroed a pose (or combined poses) and the fingers are bent extremely backwards?  This can help.

Thank you. I understand the intent of those controls now. All this additional information has been very helpful.

  • Daz3D studio - All pose changes to a single morph?

    PerttiA said:

Before exporting to OBJ, did you set the figure to base resolution? Without it, you can't import the OBJ back as a morph to that figure.

If using G8 you need to remove the eyelashes too.

I would suggest creating a "master dial" to apply the changes rather than exporting as obj and reimporting as a new morph.

The reason is that with a master dial you keep the link to all corrective morphs which were used when the figure was posed, while you would lose them with a new morph. If you plan to use that morph at something else than 100% or to mix it with other changes you'll get better results with a dial.

  • Daz3D studio - All pose changes to a single morph?

Is there a way to make a morph after changing the figure pose?

For example, I re-pose the figure (move arms, legs etc) and then I want to save all of this changes as a single morph/shape (not as a pose)

I tried to export the figure as .obj and then do the morph loader pro but it fails. It says geometry is different or something. And that's the end of my ideas how to do this

Is anyone else having a problem with disappearing Gen 8.1 Female sliders? My male 8.1 sliders have not disappeared. But my Gen 8.1 female ones are missing quite a few? For example, "Inner brow down" is gone. "mouth open" is gone, and a few expression sliders arent working. Help? I've tried uninstalling gen 8 essentials, but that didn't do anything.

    - Have you ever had them on G8.1F
    - Have you removed the dummy/placeholder files from G8.1F morph folders?
    - If you removed the dummy files, have you reinstalled G8 starter essentials afterwards? (puts the dummy files back)

    • Still needed to be supported for drivers
      - ERCKeyTyped links
      - No drivers on Bone properties (when a morph is controlling a bone)

Does this mean, that you are working on a solution for shapekeys, controlling bones?

Would this allow us in the future, to bring e.g. a DAZ Character with an e.g. an Adult to Child morph to Blender, and the morph will also adjust the amature in Blender. So we can do e.g. an animate adult to child animation in Blender?

Exactly that's a problem we currently haven't solved yet but, its a goal.

Good to hear that someone is working on this issue.
I was really shocked that Blender doesn't adjust the armature, when using shape keys.

Maybe you consider developing the DAZ solution for this issue as a generic Blender plugin, so the hohle Blender community benefit from your solution.

I thinking of an plugin which maybe can connect the amature to some verticies of the model and maybe a bake button which bakes the the amature to the shape keys.
It would be also awesome if you could bring also a generic conforming props to Blender (I'm also surprised that Blender doesn't have conforming props yet).
What be in any case great if you could contribute to Blender that way.

Make a custom morph for Genesis,in a modeling program,
that resembles the Reallusion CC3 character.

or try "dialing in" a resemblance with your existing installed Genesis morphs

or ,if you have CC3 pipeline, use the Diffeo or D2B plugin to send your Daz scene to Blender
and use the free CC3 pipeline Addon tool to bring that CC3 CHaracter to Blender which will set up the skin shaders automaticly
then render the scene/animation in blender Cycles or EEVEE

    beyond that forget it!!

CC3 is a Different Character Eco system with Different geometries and UV's

pick one Character system or the other or one can mix the two via a third party app or game engine for rendering.

Thank you for telling me about the CC3 to Blender Add-on! Fantastic.

And yes, this is basically what I suspected. I'll bring both elements into Blender and work in there. I've been enjoying the speed of Octane Rendering in Daz so I'll probably try Octane in Blender and hope everything looks good. Thank you for your advice!
