Ten Years After - The Making of Dartanbeck.com
The madness/goodness continues!
Rosie gave me the gift of Daz 3D for my birthday (today) and I got some fun stuff to play with!
Sickle Yield's Genesis 8 Clone for Genesis 3 - this let's me use the transfer utility to convert clothes from Genesis 8 to Genesis 3, which I save and can then use the transfer utility on those to convert them to Genesis 1 via the Genesis 3 for Genesis 1 clone I bought from her before.
Tip: When I use that transfer utility or auto-fit to Genesis 1, I choose the Bodysuit > Loose option, which adds a General Volume slider to the clothing. Although I don't always need to use it, it's very handy to have added to the clothing, and it's amazing how many clothing items don't already have that built in.
Stonemason's Sci Fi Kit 2016 - Finally! Yikes, I'm amazed that I didn't already own this thing!
Another pile of aniBlock products
Character Convertor from Genesis 8 Females to Genesis 3 Females - doesn't exactly (in my current experience) work for my original intention, but it's an incredible tool!
Content Package Assist - so that when I make more products (freebies), I can package them up to work using DIM. Very excited to have this thing.
Buy Something That Doesn't Work in Carrara? Post your Questions and Workarounds here. (please)I bought Riversoft Art's Genesis 8 to Genesis 3 Character Convertor, which works very well. Very slick setup!
What didn't really woork so far is my original intention for it: converting Thorne/Handspan Studio's Lara for Genesis 8 Female. Why? Because she has very large, stylized eyes - which are problematic since the eyes are part of what appears to be a single "Head" morph.
A partial solution that seems to do the trick is to use the Legacy conversion method with the tolerance set down to 0.0005, which really pulls most of the distortion away from the eyes, it seems. That is, until I started animating her and moving her eyes side-to-side and/or up and down, revealing them to be simply unusable.
This convertor, however, is still worth its weight and a Lot More!
See, I'm using Genesis 1. So I used his convertor to get morph shapes onto Genesis 3 from Genesis 8 Females so that I can then use GenX2 to add the morph shapes to Genesis 1 from there. Works like a champ!
Need some help selecting tools from the storeIt should be noted that all those morph packs are only about changing a character´s shape. Just as important is their skin materials.
You can manually adjust any character´s skin to a certain degree but there´s limits to that. Ultimately the way to go is to purchase a few characters with a variety of skins.
For female characters there´s also Skin Builder, which I don´t have myself but I´ve seen recommended a few times.

So you load a figure, make a change to one of the ERC properties and set a morph to a non-zero value, save a Character preset, then with nothing in the scene selected double-click the preset and get a newly loaded figure from it, which lacks both the morph and the modified ERC?
That is correct. And as I said, only the old presets for Male are loading fine, not the females. And any newly saved presets lack that changed morph or the modified ERC values.

By load a new figure, are you saying an entirely new figure entirely? I can try that, but my characters as scene were all started as a new figure, I think I'm lost here on what you're trying to tell me here too. I mean, by your phrasing if I start as a new figure (I am assuming the daz base figure without the morphs) and loaded the morph(s) onto it, changed the morph via Hierarchical Property and saved it as a character preset, then that is exactly what I did.
And it was all working till this update, my last presets are saved dated December 4th 2020. Hmm, I can inconvenience myself a little and try start with a new figure entirely.Catherine3678ab These files are made on Daz 4.11. What I had done was changed the values of the ERC deltas to 0 (for some of the things within the morphs that I didn't want it to change)

Like in that screenshot changed the 0.2 value to 0 so it wouldn't change that particular thing. I did that for body morphs which changed the nippler/areola/nail/navel of the figure, before saving it as a character preset. When I loaded that preset back, earlier it was fine but now it's not including the modifier_library values.
Daz would write the modifier_library when you try to change a morph's ERC values. It still does, except this time it's just not loading it back.EDIT: Richard Haseltine Alas what you suggested doesn't work. Loaded a new figure, did what I mentioned above and when I loaded the figure via the character preset, those changes are lost. It actually doesn't even apply that morph, to begin with, forget loading the changes.
Character presets with a modifier_library ignoring it entirely on loadingMaybe you could tell us exactly what it is you are changing about this morph?

Here's a new method to convert textures between Genesis 2 and Genesis 3:
http://unwrap3d.com/u3d/tutorial_repaint_mesh.aspxIt uses the morphs found here:

http://www.sharecg.com/v/81631/gallery/21/DAZ-Studio/Texture-Conversion-Helper-morphsIt's similar to Blender's baking technique, but much easier to use, in my opinion. As long as you can morph two characters into the same shape, you can transfer textures between any generation of Genesis.
I've tested it as much as I can, but if anybody wants to provide feedback, please let me know.
recently doing convertions of all my old genesis 2 works to g3.
Tryed different workflow, all require some manual seams adjustments so i ended in making some photoshop action to do it for me..
This method showed here is the only i didnt tryed yet but looks like the first link is down... any help would be appreciatedConverting Textures Between Genesis 2 and Genesis 3Bolt said:

Then I am afraid I am lost on what you're trying to tell me to save first here then.
FYI, the morph I am changing is not my own morph, if you intended to tell me to save the morph as if I was using a custom morph.

Indeed saving as a scene unfinished work does tend to make for complications as all the partial saves need to be cleaned out for any final good saves to be properly read by the program. Any edition. [only one morph is going to be read of any collection of morphs all bearing the same name]
Character presets with a modifier_library ignoring it entirely on loadingI made some changes to a character morph via --Edit Mode > Show in Property Hierarchy-- and then saved the resultant character as a character preset.
Daz still presented a modifier_library which had the changed formulas for the morph. Unfortunately, seems like this is not supposed to happen since Daz does not load that altered morph back to the character. Or am I missing something?
Geometry did not match, failed to create Morph when trying to import sculpted character in BlenderIf your figure has a shell that may mess it up when exporting so hide the shell also to test if your exporting it wrong in daz or blender after you export in daz try to load it in daz as a morph if it works then something is changing in blender.
Retro Headphoneshttps://sharecg.com/v/97222/view/21/DAZ-Studio/Retro-Headphones
A model of some retro style headphones fitted to DAZ Genesis 8 Female, set up as a smart prop in DAZ Studio. 4684 polys. It will load onto the head of G8F but could be repositioned for pretty much any character. Fits the base morph and anything not too terribly far from that, you're on your own for more drastic morphs.
DAZ is losing me...yeah purchasing has been down (already was rather meagre for years as I was on a low income). There are people here who haven't been around as long as I who have larger content libraries than mine. Part of itis that I'm just not into horror, classic fantasy, and "sexy" which have been staples here. Also couldn't justify having to purchase a lot of items all over again for a new figure (G8 - even Fastgrab is pretty much all G8 save for the occasional prop or set). Oh I have a few of the more unique characters (which I use the G8 - G3 converter for).and some clothing (though it seems the conversion script for that is somewhat hit or miss, and forget footwear). Oh I picked up few of the more "interesting" characters to convert to G3 (I have the script) and a bit of clothing I liked (also for conversion). However having to sink a tonne into all the morph, shaping, and vendor resources again is just too much anymore
Actually made one of the bigger single purchases in a long time tis past weekend (about 25$) as several items on the wishlist ended up in the 70% off coupon sale. Seems they're revving up for MM again (seeing lists of PA stores being discounted on various sale promotion pages) which probably will kick off this Thursday or Friday.
