[SOLVED] Custom Bones (Clothing) Question
Inheriting Scales change and Auto Following a head / body morph dialed are different things. Dialing a head or body morph makes a vertext position change on the figure rather than making Scales change, so bones' Transforms (Translates / Rotations / Scales) won't change by inheriting. Instead, the head or body morph creates an Auto Follow morph on the clothing if the clothing is conformed (rigged) to the figure. As the clothing has skin-binding with the figure, its shape will follow the figure's heavy shape but the bones of clothing have no change in their Transforms while they just follow the change of vertex positions.
As for determining the position of the custom bones in your case, it should be simple : depending on where the clothing / accesory should be located. In your screenshot, if you're making an accessory on figure's chest, the bones should be under Spine 4. If it's around the neck, place the bones under Neck1.
In other words, an accessory made for the chest shouldn't be scaled by the properties that change the scales of neck / head. Similarly, an accessory made for the neck shouldn't be scaled by the properties that change body scales. But no matter where the accessory is placed, as long as it's conformed to the genesis figure, its shape will auto follow the morph change on the genesis figure, e.g. you dialed Body Heavy, the accessory will turn Heavy.

I have no access to any Premier plugins. I am logged in on Daz Studio and I do have them installed VIA DIM. I don't have access to any premier-only shapes, for the record, but it's the plugins I need.
Are they lsted at all in Help>About Installed Plug-ins?
They are not though I am sure they are installed, because dzshapetransfer.dll etc are in my Plugins folder. I'm using 4.24 Premier, installed using DIM.
I've tried:
* Restarting Daz
* Restarting my PC
* Clearing temp files
* Reinstalling Studio
* Uninstalling and reinstalling the plugins.
* Tried reinstalling PostgreSQL as well
I'm logged into my account, on Windows 10 Pro.ETA: Shape Transfer is the one that made me notice, btw-- I don't have Edit->Figure->Shape->Shape Transfer.
Check that you instaled the right release channel and version (Beta/Genreal, 4/6, 64 bit/32 bit). Shape Transfer not getting added to the menu is fairly common, and doesn't seem to be a plug-in issue per se - it has its own entry in Window>Workspace>Customise in the list of commands on the left if it is working, you can then drag it into the desired menu or toolbar on the right of the dialogue.
Short girlfriend for G3F & G2F?I was looking through my inventory, but didn't find any real short.
This is Ktarya and Nylyssa, G3F.

I picked Ktarya because I thought she was small, but she was just thin. So I dialed her partly back. Then I added the height morph, that must either be part of the default or a base morph pack. The height morph only has a limeted span +/- 15, so it didn't give enough, so I added a Y-scale of 0.96. ALternatively I could have increased the range of the morph (or diabled limits).

I tried it out but I can't well find the objects that need to be put in figure/prop asset. I looked under Geometry Library and well I saw this
Well the DUF file you checked might be more complex e.g. there're morph properties with linked geometry data not saved as assets, or dforced data on timeline, etc. You can search by using a keyword "vertex_count", like the screenshot 1 I attached.

I ever wrote two scripts for a folk to change Base to High Resolution and vice versa for the items in the scene by content types. You can try and use them or modify them at will. https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/8541796/#Comment_8541796 Oh wow, so terms of content types I can make idk, all genesis figures and hair assets to base, then later in render queuer I can have the script running before render is cooked? Or is the script during work?
Well... I removed the content type check and rewrote the scripts, the scripts loop check all figures / props and set their lodlevel to Base or High. Check the screenshot 2 and try the modified scripts in the attached ZIP .
Edit: Pls be noted: if a figure or prop in your scene has not been Converted to SubD, its lodlevel cannot be set to High Resolution. Do Convert to SubD beforehand if needed ~~ (some figures / props may have artifacts after conversion... check 'n do it case by case)

Man such a shame I really think this would've been super useful to me.
First off I have to say, thanks a lot! This has really helped my workflow terms of save file being a lot smaller, though there is still some things I need help with, I've noticed the vertex_count for rigid follower is quite high, like 16000. Idk what rigid follower is.
Also this week has been quite productive since I kept hiding everything except the figure (like everything hair, clothing etc) and the ground. I've done quite a lot terms of renders. But I have a feeling I can do better though with Save files, I tried to read again with my old crowds I created (I have like a lot of crowds of 10-20 models) but I noticed like 76 of th the vertex count terms of search has rigid follower, don't know what it is, I searched and it was the buttons, but the save file went up from 3 MB to 13 MB wit this crowd now, still trying to learn how to optimise it lol[SOLVED] Custom Bones (Clothing) QuestionIn that scene, it's only the figure morph (it's from another marketplace). Reparenting to Neck 1, by-the-way, didn't change a thing.

It wouldn't be a simple round shape, though, it would be the shape of a head - and probably a very unusual sahpe compared to a regular human. If you use other content as a foundation then it is sensible and wise to assume that the result is a derivate and so subject to the legal and license restrictions.
I don't want to offend the art team at Frozen. They did a great job creating cohrent characters in a cohecive environment. But we're talking about a "swim cap" sized part of a head (which has to be resculpted for the creation of the fictional "new hair" in this example) that most people couldn't distinguish (beside Moana, Rapunzel, Anna). It is not a Giger work. One may say: Its a Disney concept to not creating too new things. Just generally nice, attractive things that don't disturb anyone (nothing wrong with that).
So *I* see far too little creativity for copyright protection of this character part. As a first step.
The question of creating something new that supports or extends existing IPs would be the next question. In the example: Of course, my hair would trump the swimcap shape (in my opinion -and it is absolutely okay to have different opinions).

I made a morph for/with a G8 figure (first to use it for myself). In the process the joints began to wandering. I corrected that by readjusting it. It worked kay. The next morph steps and the simple readjustment of the joints were not enough. So I manually corrected + aved a scene subset. Everything on my PC, not even a render exists.
But – as mentioned above – the question arises: if I want to give you this morph, I save it as a morph and you apply the morph to your own G8. Until then, no problem. This happens everywhere every day.
But you would have the same problem with wandering joints which need fine tuning. At this point I found also a vehicle prop what would be more usable if you could open the doors. Then I saw a table that could be funny with moving legs... and so on. Let's call it THE MODEL.
My solution (in my head, hadn't enough time right now for full tests) was: Giving you the link to THE MODEL and sending you my rig as file (extracted (?) with the "donor figure" process crosswind suggested).
That *should* be possible (with donor figure) and legal (because I don't send protected stuff to anyone).

As for moving RFN, just select the RFN node in Scene pane, you'll see the gizmo in Viewport, then move it near to the right position till you see it. Finetune its rotations.
Thank you so much for the kind support and help also w this, means a lot to me!

I did find the RFN, got a symbol of it by selecting the univeral tool, and moved into place - and done all you said - success
.Saved as a figure asset, might save as a wearable preset later, choose another name so should be ok.
I got a nice recult w the pose I choose, and the sleeves sticking out a bit lower is most likely more realistic w that kind of catsuit, but I decided to hell w realism
, I'm a perfectionist when it comes to my art, so made 1 morph to move the righ back out , neck part, out as it stuck to her back w the pose, and 1 morph for the lower right arm - was enough for that sleeve, to move it in, and 2 for the left sleeve, saved. Might only be usable in that pose, but if so then I will make more dform morphs, love that btw, a small tiny bit of 3d modelling, all I can do. My Lara ch was made using detailed face - head and body morphs, no characters, so my work but not actual blender modelling.
This is how it looks now, sc shot fr the pre rendering mode, will work more on this, and deciding between loong loose hair, getting dressed, or braid, done her hair already
.The modesty thing I did, made the lace bra covering silk, scared of censoring and bad comments, f..k that, w that doc appointment soon, changing it back to lace - naughty lace
. The pose covers the naugthy bits, so not so brave of me really

Does it work with any Genesis 9 characters or only those included with MetaMixer 9?
Also wondering if it will mix any G9 figure I own???
Regular G9 characters are usually split into 2 sections: head and body. The MM9 Presets are basically head (+ neck) morphs split into 70 separate sections/morphs (mouth, ears, nose, etc). The MM9 Tool can mix these 70 sections in an inteligent way and also adjust them accordingly.
What you can do now is mix the 4 character presets (included in the product) on top of any G9 figure. For example you can create a face using the MM9 Presets, then on top of that you can morph any G9 character the regular way. The module which will allow you to create your own MM9 Presets will be released separately.
Note: The adjustment feature of the MM9 Tool works on any G9 figure, it does not require a MM9 Preset to work.Thanks. It sounds like I need to wat for the module to create the presets for my G( characters.
How can I adapt this catchlight technique, from armoured avian, to 8.1?There's the "cornea bulge" morph so it catches the light better. Or you can sculpt the cornea in blender.
p.s. However, you could also parent some lights to the camera, as you're interested in eyes reflection only when the character looks at the camera.

I was able to do the morph because I used the same jacket that I segemented into three parts - I was having the error/warning because I was using a different jacet - very similar but not the original
I have tried to upload the render, but it does not appear to be working - let me try a jpg - that worked
It is not perfect but it is my first morph for opening a jacket - not bad
Thanks in advance
Morph Loader Pro will not load morphDisregard, the two jackets are not the same - I went into Blender, closed the two open parts, exported the jacket with the name closed at the end, then imported into Daz - Morph Loader Pro worked perfectly

Moving DAZ Content off of C: Drive in 2020Phatmartino said:
This post was originally a question I had about finishing this process halfway through, and I was able to successfully get it done... So I thought I'd change this to lay out the exact steps I used for anyone else who might be looking to do this.
If you already have your Content on a new drive, you can scroll down to the Red Headings and skip straight to Pointing DIM and Daz to your new Content Folder.
Otherwise...
These are the steps to follow in the case that you're a Windows 10 user, don't use Daz Connect and have DIM set to Delete Downloads after Install.
Copying My DAZ 3D Library to a new Drive
There's really one folder that you need to worry about moving for sure, it's C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library. This is where your Daz Store bought (and 3rd party Manual Installs if you've done that to the default Data, People and Textures Folders) Content all resides.
I'll mention now, that when accessing this folder in any way using Windows Explorer interfaces of any kind, the above mentioned path is probably:
C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\My DAZ 3D Library
Some of the directions below require the actual physical path which is:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library.
Just keep this in mind when you have to browse to it in Windows Explorer.
I read when looking into this to use robocopy (which is a native feature in Windows 10) to copy your My DAZ 3D Library folder to another Drive, because it allows you to be sure ALL files are copied, where Windows Explorer is notorious for trying to decide what Hidden Files, or Files it thinks should be Hidden, or empty Folders might not be copied. I don't know for sure that it's absolutely necessary, but it worked perfectly for me.
1. At your Desktop, on the keyboard hit: "Windows Key + R" (R only capitalized so it's easy to see here)
2. In the little interface that opens, type: cmd then hit Enter or the [OK] Button
This opens your Command Prompt where you can feel like a computer enthusiast from the late 20th Century...
3. Here's the string you'll want to input:
robocopy "C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library" "D:\My DAZ 3D Library" /xo /e /v /a-:h
The above example can be copied and then pasted into the Command Prompt, assuming you're ok with the new location being D:\My DAZ 3D Library. If you want a different location on your D: Drive or another Drive, E:, G:, etc, just replace the D:\My DAZ 3D Library with your desired path, keeping in mind that the folder at the end of your Path MUST be My DAZ 3D Library. For example, I used G:\DAZ Transfer\My DAZ 3D Library.
If you do want to change that path, it may be easiest to create a new Text Document by right clicking on the Desktop, and pasting the robocopy string you copied from above into the Text Document, make your changes there, then copy the string again from your Text Document and paste that into your Command Prompt (this is because in the Command Prompt you can't edit the middle of a string, you have to backspace to where you want to make a change and re-type everything from there... easier to make changes in the Text Document and Copy/Paste into the Command Prompt, especially in case you were to make a mistake and need to fix it and try again).
You do not have to physically create the new destination My DAZ 3D Library Folder (or Folder Structure) on your D: or whatever Drive you choose before running the robocoy string. Whatever path is in the second set of quotes in the robocopy string will automatically be created when you run the string if it doesn't already exist. Alternatively, you can physically create the new Folder (or Folder Structure) on the new Drive before running the string, as long as you correctly put that path into the second set of quotes in your robocopy string. It might be best to do the first option, let the robocopy string create the new Folder(s), so that you don't inadvertantly end up with something like: D:\ ... \My DAZ 3D Library\My DAZ 3D Library.
4. Whether using the new location in the example robocopy string above or an altered string for a different new location, once you've pasted it into the Command Prompt, hit Enter.
Depending on the size of your Library, it may take a while to copy all that DAZ goodness. Consider watching a handful of episodes of something on Netflix or spending some time with your family.
Once it finishes, DO NOT erase that original C:\...\My Daz 3D Library yet... Keep it around until you've successfully finished the process and confirmed that everything is working with your new location after a few more steps.
Pointing DIM to your shiny new DAZ 3D My Library folder
1. Open DAZ Install Manager
2. Click the Settings Cog in the upper right corner of the window, and in the Dropdown Menu choose Advanced Settings...
3. There are 4 Tabs, choose the one labelled Installation.
4. In the bottom area of the window, there's a field with two column headers, Label and Path. In the field below them there should be one entry, your current default My DAZ 3D Library.
Right click in the open area of that field underneath the entry that's already there, and choose the one option, Add Content Path Shortcut...
5. In the window that opens, there are two fields to fill in...
Label : - This can be anything you want, it's probably for people who set up multiple paths to distinguish them from each other.
Path : - Click the Button [...] at the right end of this field to open a Windows Explorer style interface and browse to your NEW My DAZ 3D Library folder, wherever you ended up putting it.
In this Win Explorer Interface, you want to have your new My DAZ 3D Library folder highlighted either in the hierarchy (Left Column), or in the Right Browsing area, then click the [Select Folder] button at the bottom of the interface.
6. You're back at the Installation Tab now. Directly above the field you just added the Shortcut to, there's a Bar labelled Content Path Shortcuts:
Click that Bar and select the New Shortcut you just made in the last step.
7. Click the green [Accept] button.
At this point, you're set up to have DIM installations go to your new My DAZ 3D Library location. Yay!!
You could go back into the Settings Gog, Installation Tab, and in the bottom field headed Label: and Path:, you could Right Click on the original Default Shortcut (it's not there for me now to confirm exactly what it was called) and choose Remove, but it also doesn't matter if it sits there for the rest of time, so you should wait until you've completely finished the rest of the process and confirmed everything is working before removing it if that's your intent.
Confirm that DIM is set up to Install to your new My DAZ 3D Library folder
If there's anything sitting in the Ready to Download tab under Products (not Product Updates) in your DIM, it is an easy chance to test your work so far and confirm that a new Installation goes to your new My DAZ 3D Library.
1. Use DIM to install something that currently is not. Hopefully if you"re going through this process there's a good chance there's something you've un-installed or never installed because of it's size for you to use. If so, go ahead and Install it.
2. Maybe you're familiar with browsing your Content using the Content Library Tab in Daz, or going to actual Texture folder locations to do some editing, or installing things manually from Renderosity or Freebie sites... If so, use your knowledge to browse in Windows Explorer to your new My DAZ 3D Library, and search in any way you can for the product you just installed. Worst case scenario, while browsed to your new My DAZ 3D Library folder, you could use the Search feature to look for the product by name.
Hopefully you'll find it's been installed there... You can also browse to the same location in your original C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\My DAZ 3D Library and confirm that the newly installed product IS NOT there as well.
If both of the above are true, there's not much left to do!
Pointing DAZ to your shiny new DAZ 3D My Library folder
1. Open Daz Studio
2. Go to your Content Library Tab
If somehow it's not docked somewhere or something that you don't use regularly, in the Main Menu Bar select:
> Window > Panes (Tabs) > Content Library
3. In the Content Library Tab's Left Column / Folder Hierarchy (it can be easiest to look at if you collapse everything as far as possible by clicking any "Down-Pointing Arrows" so that they point to the Right), you're looking for 2 Folders:
> DAZ Studio Formats
> Poser Formats
4. Start by Right Clicking on > DAZ Studio Formats and selecting Add a Base Directory...
5. No matter where the Windows Explorer style interface that opens is currently pointing to, use it to browse to your new My DAZ 3D Library folder. This is the same as when we did it in DIM, you want your new My DAZ 3D Library folder to be highlighted either in the Left Column Folder Structure or in the right side browsing area, and hit the [Select Folder] button at the bottom of the interface.
6. Click the Right Pointing Arrow next to > DAZ Studio Formats to expand it, and you should now see 3 folders under it:
> My Library
> My DAZ 3D Library
> My DAZ 3D Library
The bottom > My DAZ 3D Library is the one you just added. You can confirm this if you like by right clicking on it and choosing Browse to Folder Location...
7. Right Click the MIDDLE (first of the two) > My DAZ 3D Library and select Remove Base Directory.
ALMOST DONE!!!
8. Now repeat the same exact process starting from Step 4 just above, this time Right Clicking on > Poser Formats (instead of > DAZ Studio Formats) selecting Add a Runtime Directory..., etc. Finish the rest of the Steps exactly the same way, only under > Poser Formats (instead of > DAZ Studio Formats) and dealing with Runtime Directory instead of Base Directory.
Now you should be fully migrated and set up to have your new My DAZ 3D Library used by both DAZ and DIM.
Deleting your original My DAZ 3D Library folder
Try using Daz Studio for a bit. Close it, re-open it and make sure everything is working properly, then when you feel comfortable doing so, you can travel over to your poor old C: Drive and delete your old My DAZ 3D Library folder.
1. In Windows Explorer, browse to:
C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\
2. With the folder My DAZ 3D Library selected in the Right Browsing area, on your keyboard hit Shift + Delete. This is a Keyboard Shortcut to bypass the Recycling Bin.
3. A window will pop up asking "Are you sure you want to permanently delete this file/folder?"... Click [Yes].
This may take at least a little time depending on the size of your Library, but once it's finished, so are you! Congrats!!
Hopefully this helps out anyone who might be in the same particular situation I was, feel free to ask any questions at all. If I can't answer them, there are several abolutely brilliant people who already responded to help me and will if needed for any questions that come up.
Very late to the party here but what about the "downloads" tab in DIM? Can I point the package archive and thumbnail archive to the new drive if I copy those over too?

I am trying to make a morph where a jacket opens up and yet I am receiving an error/warning - Geometry did not match, failed to create morph - see attached screenshot
Yet, if you look at the two jackets in Blender, then you can see that they are the exact same height, width and depth - see attached screenshot
Literally the open jacket is the original closed jacket, with the only difference being that I used Blender to create a segmented front - left and right - followed by using rotation tool to "open" the jacket
How is it possible to receive this error/warning if they are the same jacket, with the exception of two parts rotated almost 90 degrees
Thanks in advance
EDIT: I have added three more screenshots showing settings - when I choose Primary Figure from Graft (Facet Order) - receive a little more information saying that the jackets (objects) are different sizes
How to transfer all Daz Content to external SSDHey all, I'm looking to transfer all my Daz content to an external SSD to save space on my PCs hard drive. I just want to make sure I do it properly as I have many years of accumulated work and content. The thought of messing it up gives me heartburn! Any step by step advice would be greatly appreciated (I'm using windows 11) :)
As a side note I did find a couple of posts on the subject here in the forums:https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/407716/moving-daz-content-off-of-c-drive-in-2020
Both seem similar overall but there are some significant differences in the complexity of the approach. Wondering if one approach is better than the other for 2026?
