OutofTouch, Hongyu & Pretty3D Leading the way in clothing - Thanks!
I just want to say a big thank you to outoftouch, Hongyu and Pretty3D, whose clothing items I've been purchasing a lot of recently. In my opinion, these 3 PAs are leading the way in terms of clothing products right now. As far as I'm concerned their names are a guarantee of high quality and I feel like other clothing PAs should take note of the extra mile these guys (or gals?) go to in order to create something special that stands out from the usual crowd. Why do I think this? Well:
(1) I tend to use quite generous body shapes when I render the ladies but I never have any trouble fitting their clothing to my models. Even if there is some poke-through, they usually provide so many adjustment morphs that its very easy to rectify.
(2) Versatility! The number and variety of movement morphs they include are great and so helpful to someone like me who creates comic-strips. Want a windy scene? No problem. Want a scene where someone is getting dressed/undressed? Easy! Their products have so much scope.
(3) Their outfits look really good, obviously.
In the current Genesis 2 sale I just helped myself to the following items, all of which I'm exceedingly happy with and fully recommend:

Absolutely agree
I agree. There are other great clothing vendors, though, including Renderosity (like the3dwizard, RainbowLight, Lilflame, Dariofish, Sickleyield and some others).
The sad thing is that those are apparently rarely considered for DAZ Originals. And show up in DAZ' Pro Bundles even less. Certainly would make them more attractive to me.
I also like the products from OOT, Hongyu, the3Dwizard, etc. but I almost always buy an item and immediately start making my own morphs. These are either to give extra movement options or to fit the odd shaped characters that I create with parameter sliders. Nevertheless, I do wish more vendors would consider the fact that buttons and zippers are supposed to open, straps come off shoulders and clothes wrinkle and fold.
Edit: I'd add Cute3D to the list.
Not sure what you mean by "rarely considered for Daz Originals" as it's up to the PA whether they want to sell their item to Daz or keep it brokered.
Out of Touch and Lilflame are my big Go Tos for clothing, closely followed by Exnem on Rendo. Pretty3D used to be, but these days i look more for their themed sets, like the Hot Uniforms series or Star Trooper.
Opening and undressing morphs are a big selling point for me, if a clothing item has some, I'll seriously consider buying it. Another thing I like is built-in Mesh Smoothing. I've gotten some very good draping results with dresses and skirts that have Mesh Smoothing applied.
The opening buttons and zippers is a big selling point for me because even if I have to make some of my own morphs its a hell of a lot easier if the PA has included some base morphs where the buttons/zippers are open. If the clothing can't move and open, then it might as well just be painted on as far as I'm concerned.
From now on I'm only going to buy outfits that give this kind of functionality.
Well, I thought, it's usually DAZ contacting a vendor about a potential buyout. If it's the other way round, vendors coming to DAZ asking them to release their content as DAZ Originals, then I guess that at least explains the combination of content in some bundles.
Agreed. The draping thing is important - so many dresses and skirts look like they are made of sheet metal so that when the figure is seated the skirt looks completely "un-fabric" like. Attempts have been made to add morphs based on pose sets that are available for specific characters (Aiko, Victoria, Josie, etc.) but I don't have all of those figures/pose sets. That's why I make so many of my own morphs.
One partial solution might be for DAZ to improve the built-in Dform tool so we don't have to rely on ZBrush (expensive), Hexagon (crashes) or Blender (complex, but my preferred tool). Add some sculpting brushes to DAZ Studio and I'll be a happy camper.
EDIT: I checked out Exnem but there seems to be a gap in the catalogue so there are products for V4 then skips straight to Genesis 3. I only buy for G2 these days.
Greetings,
My recollection (purely from reading the forums) is that when you submit an item, you can check a checkbox (or something) that says you'd be willing to consider a buyout, and then if DAZ's interested, they offer one. I know that Sickleyield has made a point that buyouts end up making you 'compete' with your own back-catalog, because the buyouts show up on artist searches, and are discounted (for PC members) more than discounts on your sole-artist items, so I am *guessing* that SY chooses not to check that checkbox, or what have you.
And while I mostly agree with the OP, there are a lot of artists making very good clothing, and while the specific clothes listed are solid examples of general-use clothing, the artists listed do tend towards making less general-use clothing...
I do wish StreetWear would make a G3F/M appearance. :)

I absolutely adore outoftouch's products. His female characters are beautiful and their clothes are the same. Totally stylish, top quality and, super sexy.
I did not know that. Still, I find it hard to believe that DAZ actually creates their figure bundles (and bundles in general) by waiting until enough PA's have filed new items under "would do buyout" and then saying, OK, another greek outfit, we can release Gia now! And then ask the PAs to retroactively add the body morphs? And that moment is just by chance usually the middle of the month on a tuesday?
I understand, of course, that in the the end, no one wants to bear responsibility for anything. DAZ can't decide or do anything, because it's all up to the PA's. The PA's have their hands tied, because, hey, it's all up to the market. And the market is helpless, because we buy anything shiny (me, very much included). The whole 3D world is just a micale of nature. And yes, I understand, none of this is completely untrue. There are always constraints to DAZ, to the PA's and to all of us. But we are also all making decisions and occasionally owning up to them wouldn't hurt.
I do agree with you on the content the more morph-happy vendors are putting out. It would be nice to see more practical clothing packed with dynamic morphs. Luthbel comes to mind. Despite what I keep saying, in general I like the look of a lot of the clothes by bobbie25 or Nikisatez or Mada. I love clothes by Ravenhair. They just usually feel very limited. In some cases limited to just leaving your character in the T-pose, period. And I want them to be a bit better.
