Horo's Christmas Gift: HDRI

http://www.daz3d.com/bryce-carrara-daz-studio-iray-hdri

Not only are there three complete HDRIs for not just Studio but also setup for Bryce and Carrara, but also PDF instructions for setting them up in each program for those that don't know how they work.

I'm seriously impressed. Thank you so much for going to this much effort.

Very nice gift Horo. Thank you.

First, thanks Horo for this gift! The HDRI's looks great.

I like HDRI's because they make things simple, but these however give me a hard time and become severely distorted. I've gone through the documention but cannot find anything on what I'm doing wrong.

This is what I get when rendering the indoor HDR, loaded without any changes.

Are you using DS, Bryce or Carrara?

@isidorn: taking a look but my top of the head guess is "finite vs infinite dome"

My favorite freebie this year, totally awesome.

It stand to reason that I would be the last one to argue with you on that.

I know the way to your heart is through Bryce support.  laugh

I have no problem with that, neither ion finite nor infinite mode.

And I agree with Fisty - Awesome freebee!

Did you load it on the environment  block under render settings tab?

Thanks for the help with troubleshooting! I tried again and to my surprise it looked just as it should, both infinite sphere and finite. But changing "Dome Mode" to either of the "sphere w /ground" it distorts again. Is that so for anyone else?

  • TotteTotte Posts: 14,920

Those modes are only for images of that type.

  • isidornisidorn Posts: 1,601

Ah, that explains it. My newbiness shines through again. Now if you don't mind another newbie question, how do you know if a HDRI are made for ground or not? (other than discovering when using it that it can't be used with ground)

  • TotteTotte Posts: 14,920

I don't think you know unless the file or info states it, ot my looking at it.

Ah, ok. That explains even more. Thanks again for all the help and of course more thanks to Horo for making these and giving them away! :)

I can't believe it. I'm so vain that I looked everywhere for kudos and missed this thread completely until Kismet2012 pointed me to it. Now I have two massive wooden blocks around my head held by a heavy clamp so my inflated head won't burst.

Seriously, you are more than welcome. I'm very glad to get the feedback that the stuff is of some use to you.
