I'm still on the fence. I'll wait a couple of days and make decision before the discounts disappear. I also still have my DO coupon for this month from the PC club so I can use that to bring the price down by $6 which should help. Right now, with both Nathalie and Rahele in the cart they are down to $5.80 each with the coupon which is almost a 70% savings, something like 67.5% roughly so not bad for a new figure. They aren't punchable or I would have already snapped them up with that discount.
Yep, I have quite a bit from FW, too.
edit: just double checked what the starter bundle would be with coupon ($25.49). It might be hard to walk away without buying. still thinking
The other thing to understand is that Daz will list what items were used if the PA provides them. While the PAs may not have the items from the packs to work with in time for upload, it is entirely possible that the items in the pack are just not available for the PAs to use as well through no fault of Daz. Different customers have different expectations. I am a PA, but I was first a customer and remain one. For my own part, I don't expect every promo I see in a pack, such as a Pro pack to be items only in the pack because of the variety of individual products bundled together. Neither do I want that because I'd like to see the item displayed with a variety of hair and clothing, especially those not in the bundle. As long as the product is being shown so that I can make an assessment for purchase, while I may find the hair, clothing, jewelry interesting, they are not part of the package and so are superflous to me. I only hope that if my interest is peaked enough that the PA put in the names of the items they used, so that I can find them. Once I became a PA, I realized with time constraints and many other factors a customer cannot be aware of, items sometimes just do not get listed.
However, I always encourage customers to submit a ticket with feedback as to the things they want to see in promos. Posting these desires in the forums really is just telling your fellow customers who may not be able to do anything to help the matter unless they're also PAs like me and some responding in this thread.
I know that when I see a character set, if I don't see good hand, feet, elbow and knee shots, there may be no purchase on my part. Those things may not be at all important to others. I did write to Daz to express that it was, however, important to me. I heartily suggest the same to all of you...if it's important to you, let them know through the system put in place for your feedback to reach them.
Right it could be on either side that doesn't or forgets to list the products used, but since 'what is that hair/clothing/model/monkeymagnet' is such a commonly asked thing, you'd think it would be more of a priority to get the other items used listed. For me, of course I realise that extra items are not part of the package unless specifically listed, but I remember when I was looking at the shop for the first time, I had the preconceived notion that a character came with hair (I know it makes no sense now that it would unless stated.) It just seems to make sense to me that if there's a range of images shown on a bundle page, everything in those images is in the bundle unless otherwise stated.
Understandably there can be complications and reasons why PAs can't always have access to the other items in a bundle, but these are the sorts of things that make an official Daz product feel complete and attractive to a new customer not already knowing how everything works. Considering that its not unusual for a product's description to have been spellchecked or formatted properly, yeah, I do feel like QA could be doing more to assure quality in their whispered strict standards. Is this unrealistic? Maybe. But I come to the Daz Store to spend all my money because I'm told to expect and tend to get high standards of quality where other stores might just sell whatever, and I think that the key to maintaining that image comes from paying attention to many small details that most might not even notice.
I don't want to sound like I only look at the negative aspects - I'm just so used to the quality and all around really great products that the Store provides that it'd be weird to mention every aspect all the time. I spend a lot of money at the Daz Store (pretty much all of my free funds) and I do so gladly because the items in the store people are really, really good. I just think that it's the artist's job to make a great product (which they do) and it's the store's job to do everything they can to make it sell to as well as it can when they're sticking their name on it. Again not always possible and maybe unrealistic, but I'm not really complaining that things are terrible more "but think, it could be even better!"
(also I've never even thought to look at the hand feet elbow and knee shots xD woops.)
I've already wishlisted that product at Rendo; so was good to see it on a promo; I will be getting your figure eventually, but not the others from the pro bundle. I have Bethany, I don't need another for the UVs which is why Daz says they are done as they are, so am good.
The human race, very much depends on those errr anatomical elements. Obsessing over them sounds like a species imperative. :)
Yeh, you only get heels like are on Tears of the Gods in fantasy; shame, I was actually sat with the pro pack (despite my reservations) in the cart, and was taking one last look before clicking buy. I still might, despite the heels - the poor excuse for a skirt (with it's implied massive protection) just makes me laugh.
Thanks for this Cris, it's good to know such information.
Hmm, not much in it there. Olympia 6 was far more unique.
CHEERS!
Now that looks great!
CHEERS!
I agree, and I did purchase Olympia 7 too; she looks sooo good! Olympia 6 is my favourite of this generation, and O7 promises to become the same in the G3F line. I bought 'à la carte', with the Artemis Moon set and Odessa hair - both gorgeous looking. But I would really love to have some more G3M characters.
Rahele dressed in Divinity Outfit, hair from Talisken.
I think, her lips are a bit too thick...
Looks like this release also gave us the name of the next girl in line: Odessa hair (which looks awesome) has a fit for "Izabella 7" listed on the product page
Just bought it yesterady, and like Vickie, Eva, Karen, it's another great product.
But again, I don't understand why there is no Genitalia Normal maps!
I work with Octane, and worked a lot on my own shaders. The association Bump map/Normal map gives great results, but everything is wasted because of the lack of the Genitalia Normal map.
I would like to work with the original Genitalia module, but as it has now its own UV map, I can't create a normal map for that.
I dream about seeing every zip file of V7, Eva 7, Karen 7 and now, Olympia 7 being updated with a genitalia normal map. It would be VERY useful to me, to create very realistic nudes, with high definition muscles, and other skin reliefs. Thanks in advance!
What's this "genitalia" you speak of? Here we list only Anatomical Elements!
Seriously, I agree that it's dumb that you go to the trouble of making a fancy complete-the-human addon and then gut it so that it's not really useful with any of the new things G3F offers.
- Anatomical Elements are exactly the same for all the women which is kind of creepy.
- They're better for men for creating variety but also worse because G3M turned the circumcised slider into an on off button which is ridiculously not useful.
- Men are still lacking Anatomical Elements for elements of their anatomy.
- As mentioned, there are no normal maps. I don't know if someone can make them themselves but I have no idea how to do it.
- There is no HD addon which can cause issues or just be unappealing when the rest of most G3F characters are available in HD now (detail around the hip seams etc.)
Adding the body orifice for excreting solid waste material to the Anatomical Elements was a positive step, though. I have to give credit to Daz for adding the Solid Waste Orifice to the Anatomical Elements prop. Very progressive.
edit: I just realized I forgot to use my $6 coupon on Olympia. Freaking solid waste material!
Absolutely. G3F Anatomical Elements have been a big upgrade over G2F's Anatomical Elements. G3M's Anatomical Elements are a bit of a downgrade though, and both still have room for improvement to match the rest of their sleek new Iray-rendered HD bodies.
Now that I've caught onto the fact that a new figure appears each month it's gotten a lot easier to know when to use my coupon.
Olympia 6 was one of my favorites, but I will not be buying Olympia 7. Six was cute, curvy, and maybe a little sassy. Seven looks heavy with a manjaw. No thanks.
Though I would have preferred a male figure I like Olympia7 very much; her face is really fascinating. Friendly, lovely, full of character; with that little divine smile… Not easily to be turned into a plastic doll or something vulgar. What I don't like are the proportions of head and body: She has the small head/large body we know from some characters/figures of the G2F generation (in compensation, G3F base's head is a bit too big…). Maybe they wanted to make her look more muscular. But no problem: +3% head propagating scale, and the proportions are ok.
I agree about Olympia 7's face, with the Genesis 3 gals it is the whether it has an interesting face that sells me. For me it is the arms that are almost always to thin on figures that are suppose to be muscular and/or fuller figured.
I actually like the textures with Olympia 7 much more than any other named release; they light really well, and have substance to them.
Hi,
I'm having fun with Olympia's morphs. I've been "blending" Olympia with several of my G3 girls to give them a bit more substance. This is a recent test render--she's only rendered to 50%. I really like her look. She's 25% Cailin, 60% Olympia and 25% Victoria (used the Cailin skin).
Trish
From what I've seen, the O7 is mildly shaped compared to the original.
O6 was a voloptuos pear, I'm not sure what shape O7 is trying to be. I put the Pro bundle in my wish list, don't really have a need for her. Besides, the timing is bad, picking up the new Zev0 morphs and calling it quits to buy stuff for Christmas dinner. Definitely keeping some cash in reserve for a new boy bundle next week!
That Cailin texture looks really good. One to get my hands on.
CHEERS!
It is so very different than all the others released; great quality is almost a bonus. :)
Yeah, it's different from what Raiya has done in the past and it's actually more like Maelwenn's old V4 textures in style.
CHEERS!
She looks very beautiful and the skin is amazing.
@NDelphi. Thank you. I'm very happy with my decision to purchase the Olympia base. Her morphs blend well with others.
@NDelphi @nicstt @Rogerbee--I love anything that Raiya develops but I think Cailin is my all time favorite. I'll be using this texture frequently.
Trish
She's certainly on my list too.
CHEERS!
Spot the mistake:

Overdid the Christmas spirit!?
CHEERS!
Took me awhile but rofl Olympia 7 manwoman
The two new characters today look great and I'd certainly buy them, but is it just me or are they both kinda making Olympia Victoriaish? I guess Andie gives a super young version of the mature blocky face Olympia. Myrina just makes me think Victoria model with too big boobs and hips. Sorry, I mean Anatomical Elements.
Not trying to complain I'm wondering if there's something I'm missing (and I looove Silver characters so absolutely not hating on the PA.)
I'd like to know which lights they used for the promos in that Expressive set, they make her skin look really nice. I've not been keen on many of the new characters for the Gen 7 figures, apart from Cailin they all have that Daz look that could have been done in either render engine and looks so dated. I want textures and characters that look photo real and I know that Gen 7 is more than capable of them as are the PA's that have done characters like that in the past.
CHEERS!
Concentrate used to be my favorite expression. I dislike that it is called concentrated instead of concentrate.
It is such an obvious typo but the expression also has changed which sucks. No humans are not orange juice and cannot be concentrated.
