  • i like the hair and the Thor outfit from the pro bundle. The figures,I always like if only to have another skin since I'm fond of dialing in my own figures. Everyone has their own ideas about beauty, something about beer holders and all that.

Since I have the anatomical element prop, I'll have to look at the Starter versus the Pro, and consider the merits of the Thor outfit.

I want to buy her already but I can't because Daz has taught me very well that if I do, later on in the day there'll be a special offer of "buy a new release today and get the entire Daz catalogue for free." And then I'll have to buy more things and it'll turn out the entire Daz catalogue was a little book prop with "Daz catalogue" on the cover.

  • that...

    Olympia

Ok, as promised few month ago (the "soooooooon!!" thing ), Olympia is out now. And for me it is a mixed bag of feelings with a thin tendancy to  the disapointpent.

I was waiting a "Olympia 6" like to G3F kind of character, a bit round but most important, with a thin but apparent muscularity, making of this girl the strong girl of the G3F. In addition to this, The O6 chars have some nice faces, with personality: I don't find this in the O7 pack.they are nice, but I feel like there is something missing.

On the positive side, I really like the package, with fantasy oriented outfit - mostly greek - (with that name sould it be diffirent? ;-) ).

In short, where is the muscularity with strong faces?

btw: does she have her own uv or will skins from characters basing on her need her to work?

The characters based on her use the default UVs as far as I've seen so far, but they'll need her shape to become their correct shapes.

    thank you :)

    I caved.

Happy birthday to me for next week. (man, buying your own birthday presents can be expensive!)

But I like her....a nicer fuller figure, but still muscley.

  • "Genesis3 Anatomical elements" <g> ;) :D

  • Ok, let me start by saying I did purchase the Olympia Starter package. Frankly, it had everything I really wanted. I'm more into realistic rendering than fantasy or science fiction.

However, another Genesis 3 female!? I was at least hoping we'd see a few more G3M products before we rolled out another G3F one. Maybe a couple more hair choices? Though DAZ did tell me on Facebook that more G3M products are coming, but the G3F roll out was not nearly as good as when they rolled out G2M with regards to the number of products.

    <sigh>

  • I was allways tempted purchasing Karen7. Now I'm glad I havn't. Olympia 7 seems the better choice for me.

She looks okay. Her face is a bit more chiseled looking than the previous baby-faced Olympia. Her content is mostly fantasy which I never use and mostly sits in my runtime untouched. I may buy the base only. I do like the one curly hair which is nice

What I really need is characters for Genesis 3 male though. I have enough female characters.

You've been a member for five years, and you were hoping for more male? laugh I hope (no pun honest) that you were only building up mild expectations to go with that hope. :)

    She looks good!

Finally, a white girl without fake tan bronzer : ) (not counting Arabella who is a goth).

Her make-up options seem to be more extravagant than O6's and overall, she appears to be more fantasy heroine oriented which is fine. I like the theme and the items in the bundles look very well done.

I really did not expect to see another figure before Christmas, especially not female.

    Where are my men Daz?!

I hope that we will get a male after new year : ) Too many ladies!

Who wants to see a handsome greek hero? I know I do!

Moved her to my wishlist for now : )

well, there are many, indeed....but never too many cheeky

I'm still waiting for a Mei lin 7 like bundle (and eventually a Monique 7)

But my impatience goes on CREATURE CREATOR (HD?) for G3 laugh

In the meantime, O7 goes in my wishlist. It is a must have bundle for (sexy) fantasy

Yes I look forward to Meil Lin and Monique as well! I really wanted to buy them, Meil Lin 6 especially but before I could, G3F and V7 came out and I switched and never looked back : )

I wish there was more than one realistic asian/black character though.

We have plenty of white girls but when it comes to realistic asian females, I bet we will only get one which will be Mei Lin of course.

For me, Karen and the super hero theme was a simple decision. Since I am also one who doesn't do fantasy (unless its techno fantasy), Olympia's fantasy skewed superhuman bundle is less of what I want.

That being said, with discounts on top of discounts, the Pro bundle is tough to beat since the one outfit that i like is the Thor outfit (even if I'd have a tough time using it) and adding the hair and the other figure a la carte would erase the lower price of the Starter bundle.

Another nice character, but this time I am waiting, so far I have only purchased V7 and M7, I have always bought every probundle as they came out except for a couple and then a new generation pops up so this time I am going to see what's available so I have some options to see what works the best and this way I will have to learn to use all Zev0's and Thorne's morphs to create my own new characters plus maybe playing around in my modeller more.  I have also found that alot of bundles have been given away at a much larger discount in future sales.

What character is this featured in the texture add-on for the Artemis outfit? Rahale?

I like Olympia7, but to much muscles on afemale body for my taste. If you like her body smoother, go here: http://www.sharecg.com/v/83168/view/21/DAZ-Studio/Olympia7_SmoothBody

Nothing big, just smoothed her body in zbrush.

15.74 -$6 coupon = 9.74, + 8.80 puts Nathalie at $18.54 - 10% gift card = ~ 16.67? Or something like that. Then I'll probably pick up Rehele at some point later when I'm not on the verge of financial ruin from Daz's subliminal marketing campaign against my credit card.

The bundle is a great deal at $47 (and -$6 -10%) if you'll actually use it but I've found that I pretty much never use anything from the other bundles apart from the characters. Hair really hasn't improved over time the same way the characters have so there are only a few I use regularly and I prefer making my own clothing. If I wasn't so poor from all the past sales I'd probably just buy the pro bundle, but pennies are tight!

...why would you pinch a penny, anyway?

Note to self:  Remember to use yer danged coupons this month!

For those who already have the trend setter outfit - is the shirt a stand alone figure? If so, would it work as a "normal" shirt/blouse you could use with other bottoms (slacks, jeans, skirts) or does it only really work with the pants in this particular outfit? I like the shirt, I've got no interest in the pants.

Huh... Looking at this, Olympia just looks like Bethany's Body morph with the Body Volume turned down and a custom face...

Can we get a straighter standing comparrison between the two?

I think this is hard to judge in this pose and from this distance/angle.

But boy, poor Eva. Her complexion in that picture suggests that she ate something bad and is about to throw up : D

She's embarrassed by the fact that she's head and shoulders taller than those fairly tall women.

The height slider doesn't even get most characters down to their average heights for their gender. Obviously it's not particularly important if you're just loading a character in Studio and hitting render, but when you're using the characters in other programs, the units matter.

The real problem Victoria. G2F got modelled off V5 Supermodel and since then they've been creeping up in height. V7 looks stunning but she's too tall and far too muscley (but not as way too muscley as V6 was.) I'm guessing it's because she's meant to be able to fill every role imaginable, but that steals uniqueness away from the other Originals. As a result, the other females are all too tall because of her, she looks more athletic than Eva (which is supposedly Eva's thing according to her description, but she just looks like another nice Victoria to me) is as athletic and strong as superhero Karen, making her muted as well, and is taller and looks stronger than greek warrior Olympia. Bethany is also slightly too tall but looks great next to the others, Josie is fine and Arabella's height suits her build nicely. If V7 was more in the style of V4 the whole range of G3 would make a lot more sense.

LOL, it's funny reading what you wrote when all of that is easily fixed with the sliders and avaliable morphs. I also render outside of DS and use other programs and all of them have scaling features. When I start/plan a render, I have an idea of what the leading person in the scene will be like, especially their physical features,  So I load up the appropriate base figure based on my needs and then start shaping till she fits the profile i had in mind, including size.

I have nothing against the addon characters, I know each one has some little bit of uniqueness they bring to the gene pool, but it's usually not enough for me to invest in them. The base figures can be made to be anyone you want, there's no need to limit yourself to what DAZ releases in the way of addon figures. Makes me curious if any users have all the addon figures, yet don't own the base morphs, LOL.

BTW, nice render Artini, the hair especially came out great!

Why would you think it's okay in concept to have to fix every single female you make based off the character?

Yes you can redo the proprotions individually to fix the height (scaling down a human isn't how being shorter works, btw.) You can reshape them into anything you want. But that's not what Daz products are specifically designed for.

I can fix a flat tire too, but I'd still rather buy one that wasn't punctured to begin with.
