Why can`t my characters load?

Hi

Nothing happens when I click each character`s icon in My Library  ->  poser format  ->  daz people folder.   The character model does not appear in the scene.

Am I missing any files? There is a small script icon on the upper-left corner of each icon, as shown in the attached picture, except she-freak 4 which loaded into the scene perfectly.

DS4 or DS6? Have you looked at the end of the log after trying to load - Help>Troubleshooting>View Log File?

I`m using DS6.  I juest checked the Log File. It reads as in the attached picture and I have no idea what to do.

I uninstalled victoria 4.2 base and then reinstalled it with DIM but the problem is still not solved.

I remember there was a problem reported when using V4 in DS6 alpha, it was caused by the power loader script not working properly in DS6.
The fix was to remove the power loader DSB script (located in the same folder as the cr2). Not sure if that was fixed in later versions since I removed the file, but that's worth a try.

  • If you're using DS6, that's to be expected, as the DSB scripts are no longer supported.

You can still load the figures by using the CR2's, but you'll either need to delete out the scripts or move the CR2's to another folder to do this.

Further, you're going to lose Power loader support, and i'm not aware of any method to get it to run in DS6.

Also, many material presets for Gen 4 figures and assets are in DSB format, so none of those will work either

The best suggestion i can give is to do your initial setup  in DS4 then save as a scene or scene subset, and load in DS6 for final work and rendering.

Antyhing else that's dependent on DSB files, will need to be converted in DS4 to DUF files, such as Material presets.

.dsb is still supported, converting from the old Daz Script (earlier versions) to the current is not (because Qt removed the base feature it used)

and run the /Runtime/Libraries/!Daz/DzCreateExpFiles-?4 file for the figure in question to do a static version of the job PowerLoader does.

.dsb is script, .duf is data (though in older versions of DS presets were scripts).

While it may still be supported, as it doesn't function, and there's no way that i'm aware of to convert them, it's a distinction without a difference.

That's not what "DzCreateExPFiles-V4.bat" does, it simply creates/adds the channels, groups and links for morphs into the base PZ2 files.

Without Power Loader, the only ways to create a "static version" is to apply all the inject files(pz2) you want and save as either a new CR2 or scene subset, with the alternative being to modify the support PZ2s to force the delta data to load.

Thus far, i haven't found a single asset that uses DSB for material presets that works in DS6.

What are you on about here?

If the DSB script doesn't run in DS6, then you have to convert it to something it can use.

The "easiset" is to convert to DUF by creating a new Material preset.

.dsb is a binary (possibly encrypted) script file, and DS 6 uses the format. If a script is too old, or needs updating, then it won't run but that isn't because .dsb is no longer supported.

Yes, Power Loader did both - created the channels etc. and injected the morphs (or it could skip that). The Create ExP Files command for the figure must be run before morphs can be injected.

Thus far, i haven't found a single asset that uses DSB for material presets that works in DS6.

They are one of a few variant scripts (assuming they were not customised) so if one of a particular type fails (old-style script or a code issue) all will. It still isn't because they are .dsb files.

The best suggestion i can give is to do your initial setup  in DS4 then save as a scene or scene subset, and load in DS6 for final work and rendering.

I was pointing out that one is a script file and one a data file - applying a script preset in DS 4 and saving a .duf preset is certainly a way to use them, but not every .dsb file will be a preset (or not an untweaked preset) so the raw statement needs qualification.

For a few years now the PowerLoader scripts have been a separate download from the figures.

Just open DIM and look for anything with "PwrLoader" in the name, and uninstall them.
