Why Was DIM Altered?

While launching DIM, it asked to click for update as usual but this time,

the interface required me to log in to DAZ and it asked for permission to allow Daz 6 to

have access. I don't have 6 nor do I want it. Now DIM just hangs. It was perfect before.

Never a problem.

Why does any software get updated? Usually for new features (unlikely in DIM) and bug fixes. And sometimes those updates go wrong. I can't imagine you've never ever seen an update go wrong and today's DIM kerfluffle is your first.

And as for perfect, whenever I leave DIM running for more than a few hours, it stops connecting to the daz website and can only be killed from TaskMgr to close it. Perfect indeed.

The security system used has been updated to oAuth2, which should give better protection. It does need access to the listed information to work, then it will open a browser to log in (but once that is done it shouldn't need to do it again on every launch). The reference to DS 6 is, I think, a typo - DS 6 is also getting the same log-in method.

I understand why software gets updated. I've been building PCs since the 386 days.

The way DIM worked for me was perfect by my expectations and for my use.

Thank you for the clarification Richard. Much appreciated.

Running macOS 26.7.1 here. Updated DIM after reading the posts above.

    Granted permissions to everything.

DIM launched fine, though I haven't tried installing anything yet.

DIM opens DAZ website for logging in, as now expected. Logged in and closed the DAZ website.

    Closed DIM.

Relaunched DIM several times and it keeps launching DAZ website in Safari wanting me to log in.

    Annoyed.
