Hello from Rehab

I had a harrowing misadventure and ending up a resident of the Emergency Department for a week. A couple times I returned home but had another emergency and needed an ambulance again.

I could  use your insight in bringing DAZ Studio over to my notebook computer. I have an installation stored on an external portrable drive that was connected to a different computer. I hope to that drive to my notebook computer.

I hope to do this without needing to connect over the internet.. We have very week wifi at the rehab facility.

I want to document my current health misadventures. Any assistance would be very welcome.

It 's not all bad. Three young women apparently think I'm sexy. They are flirting with me. Yeah it's innocent fun, but I feel better.

I will need to go over to my apartment next door to get the desired drive, etc. That requires the help of an attendant,

    Sorry to hear you are having these issues, I hope rehab helps.

    In general if you have the application and content on the external drive it should work when you doublke-click the application - however, it won't have any of your settings (some of those are in the registry, almost all of the others are in the Appdata folder - both of which are on the C: drive). You also won't have your database at all if it was using the default location for the Content Cluster, which is also in AppData. So, you will need to reenter your serial numbes (Help>About Installed Plug-ins - you can get the codes in the dialogueif DS is online, otherwise they are avaialble on your account pages here), add the content directories (right-click on Daz Studio Formats or Poser formats and select the Add Directory command - remember to seelct the folder that cotnains the Runtime and/or Data folder). You may want to reimport metdata after that, to get the database entries for purchased content and any exported user data - that is right-click on the Content Library pane's tab>Content DB Maintenance, check Reimport Metadata, Accept, then seelct everything (or as much as you want) in the enxt dialogue and leave it to work. You will also have to choose or create your layout (Window>Workspace>Select Layout to use or start from one of the supplied layouts) and set other application options.

    Thanks for the info, Richard. I'm pretty simple when it comes to my DAZ Content setup. At this time I will forget about database etc.

    I was into the Emergency Room, then felt better. I got home and had another emergency. Three emergencies in total.

    The kept me in the Emergency Room as a "guest" for a week. That way I'd be there if I had another emergency.

    The Rehab is largely to cope with things like an old body, loss of strength and muscle mass etc.

    Wow, you've had a tough time. I hope you are well enough to go back to your apartment and friends soon.
    Meanwhile, your virtual self is on a train from Paris to Venice, with Jack, Richard, and Other-Richard.

    Barbult and friends, thank you so much for your support.

    I am ready to tell my story. But the majority of the story will be on YouTube, Facebook and eventually my own web site.

    It will just be easier that way. Besides my misadventures thread has almost no response.

    Some of you might know my story going back 25 years here on DAZ etc. I thank those who have supported me.

    Barbult, thank you so much for including me in your story. You can continue to do so. I might not follow it agaiin, for awhile at least.

    I will leave you with one "image." While I was in the Emergency Room I encountered a physical therapst who immediatley tried to strip me of my dignity. She cut my underpants off my body and replaced them with some weird thing.

    I threw those drawers on the floor grabbed a walker and walked proudly down the hallway with my magnificent bare ass exposed for all to see. I never saw her again.

    When I finally got here to the Physical Therapy area near my appartment building, I had an emotional breakdown.

    I will recover. But I will do my best to ensure that the physical therapist is driven from her occupation.

    Are your friends able to come by for a visit?
