Hatching egg?

Hatching egg http://www.daz3d.com/hatching-egg

doesn't seem to work in new versions of DS.

Is there another egg that will? that can be "broken" in different ways and moved around and morphed?

55 bones! wow. Product page says Poser 6.

However you would have the .obj files in the geometry folder so could possibly re-rig them for D/S in D/S.

I do not own this set to check the files.

Turbosquid has an .obj free egg. The broken ones cost $$.

  • How exactly is it not working? The only thing I see on the store page that definitely won't work is the Python script (Poser only), and the materials will probably need some tweaking to look good. Plain morphs on an old item of this vintage, though, should still work to some extent in recent D|S versions. The morph dials might not be in an obvious place, but they should all be there.

  • Ah, it is modelled welded and relies on the CR2 to split the fragments apart, but DS4.x doesn't heed that so eveything remains as a single piece with nasty shrearing when shell fragments are moved. It's a fairly easy fix with a modeller, though there are a lot of parts to cut and paste, but please open a support ticket with a clear description of the issue.

I tried it in DS3 and it worked fine there; but in DS4 the pieces do not remove cleanly and the surface is pulled along with it. I would open a support ticket to Tech services; but I'm not sure how to make a bug report or exactly what to say. I would like to see it fixed but it is such an old product that I'm not sure it ever will be.

Edited to add: Support ticket submitted to Technical Services

  • Yes, it will work in DS3 as that was still using the CR2 to tell it what should be welded and what should not.

Thankyou for submitting the ticket, which is the correct way to report a bug.

  • Sorry for slow reply, i dont get forum emails anymore.

thanks for starting a ticket. i didn't know if it was worth asking, if its just one of those things that get left behind (like pmd morphs, sob sob).  Or if there's any possible fix.

Thanks for checking it guys :)

to get email notifications you need to click on the star, top right of the page for each thread you post to, it isn't automatic which I find a right royal PITA.

Actually, if you have DS3 there is a quick fix suggested by mjc1016 in this thread: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/59594/uh60-blackhawk-helicopter-has-a-bug#latest. I tried it and it seems to work but you may have to experiment with the scaling of your exported obj.

Like I said in that thread, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.  The item in that thread...didn't work.  I'd say I've had it work somewhere between 50 and 80 percent of the time.  It is item based, as to whether or not it will work...so if it works for one person, it should work for everyone.
