Rendering causing displays to go black and force a restart. (solved, I hope)
For some reason today DAZ started to crashing when rendering, causing my monitor to go black, my fans to kick on high and forcing a restart. I updated my drivers, and that didn't appear to help either.
I keep seeing this error code in the log.
[WARNING] :: \src\pluginsource\DzIrayRender\dzneuraymgr.cpp(373): Iray [ERROR] - IRAY:RENDER :: 1.16 IRAY rend error: CUDA device 0 (NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti): unknown error (while launching CUDA renderer in <internal>:893)
[WARNING] :: \src\pluginsource\DzIrayRender\dzneuraymgr.cpp(373): Iray [ERROR] - IRAY:RENDER :: 1.17 IRAY rend error: All workers failed: aborting render

Using DAZ 4.24 with a 3080ti.
Any thoughts?

What version is the Nvidia driver? Some have been known to create rogue files in the wrong place. They should all be in Windows\system32\DriverStore. If any are outside that folder, it will cause problems.
Driver 310.88
Larger snip it of my error log attached.
What o.s and what version of studio are you running?
I ask this, as the driver version you're listing is really outdated.
Looking at your log file, just looks like you're running out of Vram.
Do you have GPU-Z, or another monitor to track Vram usage?
Driver is massively out of date. I'm not 100% sure if the 300 version drivers even support Iray. You want to upgrade to a 500 version. IIRC, I'm using 572.60 in 4.23/4,24, same GPU - RTX 3080Ti.
They were supported, but, they're not compatible with the 3080ti.
i looked up the release date and branch history of nvidia drivers, and by the time that gpu came out, we were well into 4xx versions.
More likely OP meant the driver version 610.88, the latest one ~
OP, if your PC worked yesterday but failed to render today, you may check and try:
0) If you ran out of VRAM... by using GPU-Z ~, or go to Render Settings pane, Hardware tab, you'll see your 3080 ti is checked. Uncheck it and check it again to fully released the consumped VRAM by DS, then try a Iray Preview or Render again.
1) Have you installed any CUDA SDK recently... cause some CUDA SDK version may have conflict with your GPU + driver.
2) If all these fails you, try using DDU to completely uninstall your Nvidia driver as well as CUDA SDK, install a fresh latest driver, then try again ~
Edit: Though I didn't expect that would be the culprit... but I since you said you saw your monitor turned black as well as a PC reboot, PSU low power or GPU hardware failure may bring these issues as well. So, do you have any other software that can render, e.g. Blender ? Try render a scene or some objects in Blender by using Cycles + GPU, see if you get black screen or PC reboot ~~
Sorry, I typod the driver, I am using 610.88
After 5 hours, I tried rendering a scene I did earlier in the weekend, and it worked fine. But then I went back and tried one from a few weeks ago and it crashed as well. The one
Everything was working fine until I tried using Stonemasons Venezia Suite and lights in a new scene. I don't know if the render settings in that set changed something in my render settings that is carrying over to new scenes, or if that is just a coincidence. I even tried a basic figure, no clothing or hair and it crashed out as well.
Well, whatever parameter was in one of those Venezia Suite render settings was causing all my issues, and was carrying over to older renders as well.
To fix it, I used a render setting from a different Stonemason set I have used a dozen times, and it reset whatever needed reset.
