for those that do DS animation: questions

I've always been interested in animation/video production. For those using DAZ Studio, how long does it take to render a 1 minute video? I know on my system , stills can take quite awhile, anywhere from 2-3 minutes for a simple portrait to an hour or more for something complex. How do you render a video using DAZ Studio that doesn't take a month? How long do they take you? I would think some type of optimization is used?

The required time depends on the number of frames per second in your animation, multiplied by the length of the video (in seconds), and then multiplied by the rendering time of each frame.
The lazy methods are similar to those used in the animation industry. Some frames can be blurred, requiring less detail rendering. Or, if the background is fixed, rendering only the characters and leaving the rest blank is quick. Alternatively, if only parts change, only that part is rendered, and then composited in using video editing software. There are many lazy methods.
However, if detail is required, time is the only solution. Even in Hollywood, rendering a single high-quality image can take several days.
The size of your canvas will also affect the render speed. A 4k canvas will take 8-10 times longer than a 1080p canvas.
FWIW, I tend to render animation stills in 2k as an image sequence. I then compile them in an external program to create the actual video. My main renders are all done in 4k. I don't use Daz to create the video file as it only offers AVI format.

read Dartanbeck's posts as he explains it very well
thanks all of you :)
