Material lighting issue with Fireworks SKU 4099

So, I bought "Fireworks" this morning and quickly saw it only renders in black. F1 scene render is what I get. Capture 2 screenshot is Studio 6 as it was at render. The prop should be green. The Preset materials were applied as stated by the maker. What am I missing here to light the prop?

It's a very old product made for 3DL and Poser, there's a good chance you will need to adjust the materials if you want to use them with Iray (for example adding emission)

    Which?

I'm guesing it's the first, from your mention of materials. As Leana says, this is an older product so it will have 3Delight materials. I can't decide from the product page, and the readme is not there, but I suspect it has a sky dome which wil block all external light (Iray environment map and any distant lights). You will probbaly need to get rid of that, if present, and apply the ambient or diffuse colour maps to the emission colour property of the iray shader; you may also find that the diffuse colour is black, which you may need to change to white.

Iray does convert the default shader to uber before rendering, including emission, but the emission value is too low thus you can't see it.

    Try this:

    1. Select the mesh and apply the uber shader, this will make an explicit conversion that's the same iray does.
    2. Pump up the luminance in the emission channel until it's good for you.

edit. However, yes, old products intended for 3DL may have some glitches with iray, though the conversion is generally quite good. The procedure above to convert to uber gives you control to eventually tweak the iray conversion. To avoid old products you should stay above Victoria 8 that's SKU 43673. But again 3DL shaders convert quite fine in general so old content is mostly usable.
