I think the first rotation begins after the good folks of DAZ arrive to work in the morning, DAZ time. I think they're 7 hours behind you, so sometime after 3 or 4 pm in the UK, (depending on whether they come in at 8 or 9 in the morning, or somewhere in between.)
But I admit, as a night owl, I'm usually asleep that time of day, so I don't know for sure. But it hadn't changed by the time I went to bed, which was around 5 am, DAZ time.
I hope cyber monday runs from monday to tuesday
and
they have something I like
and
subscription discount
I am in a gimmy mood
The most amazing progressive discounts in the time I've been here were in May 2011:
They even stacked with all non-coupon discounts.
Those don't seem like that big a saving? Unless you're stacking them with something else not listed.
One of the best sales I've seen lately was the "congratulations on releasing Poser 11" sale where they had about a billion V4 and M4 products on sale for 80% off - including the ~$150 or so elite bundles for around $20-30 each (sorry I forget the exact numbers, but the savings were great for anyone interested in picking up or adding to those older figures.)
I've been trying to think of some more interesting ideas for sales but you pretty quickly run into the issue of having to get PAs to co-operate (I assume they need to agree to sales, anyway) which makes store wide things difficult when your store has hundreds of vendors.
The amazing thing about the MM offer of 20 dollars off a 50 spent, was the 50 needed to trigger it was before discounts. So for the items currently on sale that day of MM, which I believe was 50%, after you added 50$ worth to the cart, the cart amount was only 5$ as the 20$ was removed from the 25$ discounted price. This meant you paid 5$ for 50$ worth of items, a 90% discount, it rarely gets better than that. The difficultly was finding a set of items you wanted that added up to 50, or just a bit more.
lx, on your point about PA's agreeing to all sales, I doubt that is the case for store wide 50% off sales. I suspect there are some very old items in the store whose vendors DAZ would struggle to get in contact with now.
Oh right that makes a lot more sense. Yeah, I'd be excited about a sale like that.
Right now, items have a full price which reasonable or not is almost always too difficult for me to justify spending that much money on. By that I mean the quality and work gone into the items is worth it, but that I don't really need most of it, and it's the sort of ecosystem where you don't just need to buy one thing, but require a whole range of items to mix and match. Doing that at full price isn't really within my budget. At 30% I may grab things I really need. At 60% I start buying everything I like the look of, and then 70-80%+ I start grabbing everything I possibly can that I may one day have some sort of reason to maybe possibly use for something.
Sneaking up the total price tags doesn't always make you more money. Look at indie games and the humble bundles and constant steam sales. I (and several others I know) have bought hundreds of games just because they were good value and the developer seemed worth helping out, even if I only had a passing curiosity about the game itself.
If the current sales had have been 70% I would have spent hundreds on the days' catalogue sales. Instead I bought 5 relatively small items I was really interested in.
I have similar buying habits to you, and I certainly buy too much stuff where the price seems "too good to refuse" but in reality I have only a slight need for the item, and it is currently collecting dust in my runtime, never been used, or even installed. The new items I buy at 30% off are the things I really want, although even with these I will often wait for them to go on sale if I have no immediate need for them.
But do those settings actually work? If so I would definately be interested in getting this (it's on my wish list). My biggest problem with dynamics is that half the time the cloth doesn't collide with all objects in the scene i wish it to collide with. DAZ really needs to improve their dynamic options
Yes, there's definitely a difference. I often increase shear resistance and friction, and it's noticeable. Sometimes I up thickness, too.
As for the collision thing... yeah. There seems to be an upper limit of how many items can be collided with at once, so being judicious with what you have on the collision list is warranted. Remember, also, that you can alternate and do drape repeatedly and change collision each time (though planning THAT requires care).
Man, now they're just re-running the same stuff that ran earlier, and Rendo's sale was even less engaging. DAZ, did all your marketing people call in sick? I can't believe that RDNA is the only content store that I'm going to end up buying anything from on Black Friday.
Maybe I'll take the rest of my mad money and buy a half dozen of the $34.95 Kindle Fires from Amazon. ;P
I completely forgot to check RDNA; I'm usually not interested in their stuff but there were some Aeon Soul outfits on there I really wanted ... they're still used in the section banners, but all of the content is completely gone o.o
Yeah, AS has been running a store closing sale at RDNA for the last few weeks and pulled the contents of their store on Monday, I think. Some may show up here eventually, but they were indicating that many items would be retired permanently.
Ahhh I didn't know about that
I pretty much never go on there since it's so poser based but I was wanting to pick up the Entwined outfit at some point. Hopefully some of the stuff turns up here.
Other than figure specific items, most poser stuff works in DS. Although I manily use DS, I shop all stores and many times spend more outside of DAZ. Seems more and more GF3 items are showing up outside of DAZ, picked up Shanda Hair for GF3 for half off.
Why do they call it Black Friday not being from the USA I have no idea, is because they took the country off the Indians on that day, got no clues ?
Black Friday in terms of the shopping day started in the 60s, but it seems like it was already a major shopping day before it got that name. The police called it Black Friday because of the traffic chaos that post-Thanksgiving shopping would cause.
Right so it's a 60s shopping thing that caught on, got it !!!
Cheers
LOL. Acually Thanksgiving was a harvest celebration. Some even included Indian guests. Things didn't get ugly until the pilgrams learned all they could from the native peoples.
Black Friday from what I understand is a phrase means mayhem. The day after Thanksgiving (Thanksgiving here in the US is always on a Thursday) is the #1 Christmas shopping day here in the US. All the stores run major sells and have early bird specials "door busters" which are limited quantity items that lead to unruly crowds, lines, rudeness, pushing, and all manner of nastiness. Sometimes, fights break out. Most if not all stores hire extra security or have law enforecement in the stores to keep the crowd under control. Lines to the registers are ridiculously long and line cutting can lead to disputes. Law enforcement is also needed as theives also show up during these events to pick pocket, shop lift, etc. Traffic is also a major headache and again there is an increase in traffic altercations and accidents. Oh, and parking is a major hastle as it can be difficult to find a parking place because it seems as if most of the population is shopping on this day...everyone but those in retail because they're all working with few exceptions. Since the sells start in the wee hours of the morning, it's dark and you might be parking far away from the store which can lead to a person becoming a victim to unsavory persons.
Man it's all coming out now Lol!
When I first heard of Black Friday (I'm in the UK too), I was told that it got it's name because it was the first day of the financial year where traders could look at their books at the end of it and see that they were 'in the black' (rather than 'in the red').
LOL. Okay, I admit I'm not a fan of doing bricks and mortal shopping during this holiday. Online, I'm all for it.
Here's my mayhem story: I worked at a WalMart in a rural location for a couple of years. Working these events, was never dull. The last year I worked there, an old guy was braining a girl with his cane over some cheap low thread count towels and wash cloths. (Side note: the towels and wash clothes were only a few cents less than they normally retailed.) Meanwhile, in another aisle a lady pulled out her mace and sprayed a guy for cutting the line she was waiting in for a rolling sell item to go live. Needless, to say police intervention was needed in both of those instances. This isn't to say I don't have lots of other crazy stories from working there on normal shopping days...it was just more concentrated crazy during black Friday.
Only in America...
All this from the the most advanced society in the world Lol!
There's nothing exceptional about our society. I have better conversations with african immigrants.
Just go to Youtube and search with "black friday brawls" and be prepared to be amazed. Enter "2015" if you want to see videos for this year. I saw one where a female store clerk was being beaten by the shopers. LOL!
This is 2015 and not 1980. Stay home and order your stuff cheaper all year long on the Internet. Problem solved.
LOL. Yeah or go to People of WalMart website. These type images sadly depict a fairly common occurance. Tonight's #1 image seems to say it all....lady wearing a diaper over her pants while waiting in line. Hmmm, think that would be more effective inside her pants. LOL.
Oh, and also google "passenger shaming" for yet more sad depictions of society.
I didn't link because there are some images that are in poor taste...or depict things of poor taste like risque clothing or inappropriate tattoos.
Yes have to agree with you on that one. No society can escape the evils of greed, my lot is a bad as the next !!!
I notice that the stuff you want to buy is never on sale.
What is it that you want to buy?
I think I can safely say that by the time the current sale ends, 99% of the items in the store will have been on sale at least once in the past 3 months. Some as low as 85% off.
There are a few theories about Black Friday. One is that it reflects the color of ink. Stores finally began to make money on that day so they were "in the black."
