Having trouble finding files

Hi all, I recently have come back to Daz after several years away. All my old Daz assets are installed on a removable drive and the application itself is on a souped up but older Macbook Pro 2018 running Catalina.

I'm unable to find any of the recent goodies I've bought, and cannot remember the torturous route towards installation that I patiently learned 8 years ago. Yes, I have a much newer Mac bought last year, but it doesn't have the GPU (or the amount of RAM) that I have on my old machine, so Daz 6 is not an option.

I remember something about selecting a path for installation but am worried if I change that, it will cause the program to forget/lose the files that are currently available.

Desperately seeking help!

Since this is a Mac, does the drive you are using for content have case sensitve folder names? Can you create a folder named Test and a folder named test in the same location?

The folder DIM is set to install through isn't used by DS as such, changing it won't have any impact on loading currently instaled cotnent (for good or ill). Assuming iot isn't a casing issue, have you told DS where to find the DIM content (you need to add the folder DIM is installing to as a Daz Studio Format content directory in Edit>Preferences>Content>Content Directory Manager).

Thanks so much for the quick reply!! Mac OS won't allow two files of the same name but different case, so I can't try that. I'm not sure what you mean by the last bit. Where am I adding the Edit>Preferences>Content>Content Directory Manager? In Daz Studio or DIM?

    In Dax Studio.

But also make sure that in DIM advanced setting, Installation, that the installation path matches.

I think DS6 has trouble following aliases/symlinks on the Mac.

    Thanks!!

Now I'm having the dreaded Postgre issue. Thinking maybe just re-install DAZ3D from scratch. I'm a long-time Illustrator, P'shop, InDesign user. know my way around Macs (going back to OS7 - the first multitasking!)  and I have to say, this software is beyond frustrating!

Question: what if I downloaded and manually installed pgAdmin4? CUrrently my pgAdmin3 has a circle with a slash through it. Have deleted preference file... running out of ideas...

Are you using a generic PostgreSQL installer then, rather than the one from Daz?

No, I'm using the Daz installer. I was just speculating, as I read pgAdmin4 is more stable.

Meanwhile, having quit Daz Studio and re-launched later in the day, suddenly there are no pop-ups saying Postgre is missing!! I changed nothing during that time.

It would be easy if I could re-install everything onto my hard drive but I simply don't have room. I'll try again when I'm feeling patient, lol!
