macOS as well.
No, Mac as well.
And contrary to DS4, the Mac version of DS6 includes Filament.
Does it by any chance run natively in the Apple Silicon format, Tahoe 2026?
No, it still needs emulation. An Apple Silicon version is planned but not available yet.
So how is this "Fully Rebuilt" Version of DAZ Studio? Have all the problems suddenly gone away? Is this Beta Thread going to continue? Is there a new thread?
There's a thread about the general release: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/763291/daz-studio-6-25-0-x-general-release#latest
This one will probably be updated when the next beta is released.
So as the beta is updated, will those updates be added to Daz studio six? Or, when the beta is finally done and there's a general release or something, will that be a separate version of Daz studio?
Nope! Lots of new ones too, check the General Release thread for more.
DS6 release pattern will most likely be the same they used before with DS4: they will release beta versions from time to time for users to test, and once a beta is deemed good enough there will be a new version of the general release.
I like to use UIOJKL keys for camera movements. This is now not really working in DAZ6. I hope it will be looked at? Also seems Textured Shaded hides some of the props, like glass cups etc.
Most of those seem to be Windows issues related to iRay and display issues; most of those "new ones" won't affect inquire's Mac usage.
Deleted. This belonged in the DS6 General Release thread. I moved it to https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/9554651/#Comment_9554651
It is a bug in the Beta, too, though.
The 'Content Library' tab cannot find my content. This seems to be a failure of the Mac version to follow symbolic links, which I have used to save space on one of my disk volumes. It works fine in DS4 (and Content Manager). And I have forgotten how to tell DS where to find content, so I cannot add a different path. A general DS problem is that there are seven million places to change settings.
Edit / Preferences / Content tab / Content Directory Manager (at the bottom of the tab)
Is the general release version the same as the beta version? If so, why is there a general release version?
The General release is currently the same as the latest beta, yes.
There's a general release so that people who don't want to use a beta version can install the version considered stable. DS4 worked in the same way.
and also so that there can be a future beta with fixes and new features without affecting the genral release.
Again and again and again, is 2026 the year of the crash?? ( daz4 not crash, then hardware are ok)
System details? What were you doing at the time? Did you save the crash report?
I don't see any option to select Daz Studio 6 in the Daz Help Center when trying to report problems.
If this was mentioned before I apologize.
I wanted to add feedback regarding the new context-sensitive / active pane focus system implemented for keyboard shortcuts in Daz Studio 6.
As a long-time user, the current implementation is causing a massive disruption to my muscle-memory workflow. Having keyboard shortcuts bound strictly to the active UI window—rather than working globally—adds an incredibly frustrating layer of friction to standard scene building.
The Issue: If I select an asset in the Scene/Outliner tab, or adjust a slider in the Parameters pane, Daz Studio completely drops the viewport's shortcut focus. To use a basic viewport hotkey (like framing an object or switching tools), I am now forced to perform an extra, arbitrary left-click back inside the 3D viewport just to wake the hotkeys up.
The Request: While I understand the development team may be aiming for a hover-aware UI similar to other modern 3D software, the current build requires an explicit click to shift focus, which constantly traps hotkeys inside non-viewport menus.
Please consider adding a "Legacy Global Hotkeys" toggle switch in the Preferences menu. For users who rely heavily on speed and muscle memory, allowing shortcuts to bypass the active pane restriction and trigger globally would massively restore efficiency in DS6.
Thanks!
~Wolfie~
Not an issue to me... that's also the default behavior in DS4 for years, i.e. if you want to select nothing in Scene pane, just click the empty area in Viewport...
Have you tried this with your 3D Mouse, and any other updated plug-ins that are not part of the core application distribution, disabled? As with crosswind I am not seeing this.
Seeing what exactly? Are we still talking about what Wolfie explained above? This has nothing to do with plugins. It's simply a matter of shortcut keys not working unless you're first activating a part of the UI that allows them, which should never be the case for global shortcuts. Especially not if those worked anywhere in DS4.
Are you saying you're not seeing this behavior altogether? From what I've read I was lead to believe that was introduced on purpose in DS6.
ryzen 5950x + rtx 3090 + 64gb ram
The first time it happened, I was sliding a morph; the second time, I was editing a morph's percentage; the third time, I was running an Iray pre-render.
I test 2 last nvidia driver game ready and actualy i have last ready studio, same fight...
So I'm going to work on a beta version of 2025.27507—when it wasn't crashing—to see if the problem is with the computer.
I don't believe I have this problem in DS6 either. I can select a figure or prop in the Scene pane, go to the Parameters pane and translate the selected item in X, Y and Z. Then, without clicking anywhere else, I can frame the selected object with Ctrl+F and drop it to the floor with Ctrl+D. I can change tools with keyboard shortcuts like Alt+Shift+V to get the Node Selection Tool when I was previously on the Rotate Tool. I can move to the Translate Tool with Alt+Shift+T. I didn't at any time have to click in the viewport.
I did all this testing in DS6 General Release DS 6.25.2026.14722. (64 bit), which we have been told is the same as the current Beta. I am running Windows 11. I have my monitor connected to my NVIDIA 3080 GPU, which is what I also render with. I do not own a 3D mouse, nor have I installed a plugin for a 3D mouse. I have installed other unreleased plugins that I test for several PAs. Those plugins do not seem to be causing any problem with executing keyboard shortcuts.
If anyone hasn't already noticed, when you import an FBX model into DS6, the surfaces aren't iRay by default and hence attributes like Cutout Opacity will be absent. Convert all the surfaces to iRay, and the missing attributes will appear. In DS4 FBX models are imported as 3Delight by default.
