If you don't already have it, I can recommend Boris Hair. I bought it for the beard, long before I picked up the original Unshaven (for Genesis). But it's ended up my "go to" for short hair, both male and female. It's really versatile. (And I've gotten quite adept at changing the default colors in Photoshop, too.) It works well in Iray, too, with just the Iray Uber Base applied.
Is anyone else not seeing the fixers? I have the clones, but no Wear Them All fixers. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but no luck.
Look in the Parameters tab under Actor > Full Body > Wear Them All when you select Genesis 3 Male in the scene.
Yeah, I've been doing that. I have the female version also and see the fixers just fine for G3F. I see the male projection morph files in my DIM installer, but they arent making it to the program for some reason.
Edited to add: Never mind, finally got through to me what you wrote and I found them
This product is working great so far! Here is G3M with some morphs from the Male Head and Body morphs and the Genesis 2 Legacies for Genesis 3 Male: Heroes.
The clothing is Genesis clothing. The armband is for G2F. Everything autofit with WTA just perfectly.
daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam!! that is HOT! *whew, fanning self*
I've been fiddling with the head/body morphs for G3M but I haven't been able to get anything that hot yet :)
Thanks a bunch! You made me smile! I like him too.
Do you have the Legacies morphs? Those define his basic shape. His head is 20% each of Michael 6, Gianni 6, Lee 6, Scott 6, and Darius 6. His body is Genesis 2 Legacy Body 100% and Teen Jayden Body 50% (I transferred Teen Jayden Body from G3M with the transfer utility). The Daz head and body morphs were just added for tweaking, and I used a bunch of those. Fitness 100%, Fitness Details 100%, Fitness Size 100% Stocky 31.6%, Forearms Size -14%, Shoulders Size -17.4%, Upper Arms Size -14.1%, yada yada yada... with a bunch of face morph tweaks, too. But the Legacies will give you most of it. If you don't use Jayden in the body, you probably don't want some of the body size morphs either. If you render him, show me your version. Maybe they will be brothers, if not identical twins.
Here's a close up you can drool over.
... I mean use for reference for facial morph tweaking....
nope, haven't got the Legacies. I looked at them and wondered why'd I'd want Gianni etc when I already have him in G2, but it NEVER even occurred to me that I could use their morphs as partial morphs! :headdesk: Totally dumb. LOL. I'll put that on my wishlist...G3Male definitely needs a bit more morphing to him.
OH! I didn't even see the close up shot till I did my post. LOL. Briliant. You used iray, i think? And is the skin M7 or G3 base?
I didn't buy M7 (yet anyway). The skin is Eddie (Genesis 3 base skin). I converted it to Iray myself, because G3M didn't come with Iray materials that I could find.
I'm not that proficient with iray as yet, so converting G3Male to iray is a bit beyond me at the moment. :) I'm positive tho there are basic iray materials for him...I'm sure I saw them. I'll have a look and let you know.
Eddie in 3delight isn't real nice - it always surprises me how the Genesis 2 characters have such fantastic skin for 3delight, yet the Genesis 3 female and male 3delight skins are too orange and not very good.
Well, that's just bizarre! The hair and clothing that came with G3Male have iray materials, but G3M himself doesn't seem to have any. There's
/Render Presets/Iray/Iray Advanced Render Settings.duf but that would obviously be the render settings for Iray, which is what I must have seen and assumed it was the skin. That doesn't make any sense.
I don't think G3F came with Iray settings either, if I recall correctly. I think they are pushing to sell V7/M7, which come with Iray skins.
I think it was Richard Hasseltine who pointed out you can can save the Iray presets for another character, just make sure to use the Uncheck menu item in the popup to to "Uncheck Images" ... I'd be more specific but I've got a render running and can't go through the motions to verify the steps. Anyway, it won't be perfect, but it will be a very good starting point for creating your own Iray shaders for G3F and G3M.
OK, back to the real topic - Wear Them All for G3M...
I need some help. I've never really understood what makes that triangle groin lump on autofitted clothes. Is it a "bad" projection template during autofit? Is it a "bad" autofit clone? I autofit the G3F MFD to G3M using Dress Knee Length template. The result had that bad lump. I thought that I could use the WTA Bulge Fixers, but they didn't affect this at all. SubD and Smoothing Modifier did a pretty good job, but WHY does the lump happen, and is there something I can do to prevent that horrible ugly autofit lump? I've heard of SY ultra templates (I don't have them), but the promo "lumps" didn't look like this same issue, and it seems to be focused on not having things stuck to the thighs.
Here I am trying to autofit Bad Boy for M4 to G3M using WTA. I just can't get rid of that ugly groin bulge. I used the same subD and smoothing as on the MFD above, but the distortion won't go away. The WTA bulge morphs aren't helping either. Any suggestions, please?
G3M seems to have some sort of built-in genital bulge to deform followers...its causing some havoc for sure. I think it was a great idea, in theory; in practice, with no way to turn it off, its not working out so well.
As someone that's getting into the business I know that in order for things to follow along with shapes and morphs the top verts need to follow the underlying verts pretty closely so when your refitting pants from another figure with a different vert flow your probably going to run into issues. My suggetion, if you have a modeler and know how, is to export the pants with the figure and smooth the offending verts to follow nicely and then bring that back in as a fix morph and save out the pants with that morph attached to them so you can either have it ON and hide and lock it or have it OFF and manually dial it up keeping it visible and unlocked.
oh hello gorgeous :Q
oops, I did not know you replied L'Adair, I'm sorry. I thought that was in my wishlist but when I did a search on Boris hair the little wish-list hart was not black, so it must be somehing else in my wishlist with a similar pic. I have seen that hair many times though throughout the months, maybe I pick it up sometime when it's on sale. Thanks for the tip.
Just now seeing your post, sorry. I'm not to worried about the problems with the bulge thing, I'm sure the fixers wil probably take care of it, I just have to have more time and a need to mess with g3m/m7 than I have so far this week. I am a registered Lightwave user, but to go through all that importing into Lightwave, fixing, creating morph, export back out, etc, just to remove a bulge just would not be worth it to me, again, I'm sure the fixers will work good enough, if not I'll just throw a long shirt on ole Mike and call it a day. Nah, I'm just kidding about the shirt,..................mostly. I'll probably use him mostly for fantasy stuff anyway, and so much of that stuff has so many variables for coverage etc, that it probably wont be a prob. Thanks for the suggestions though.

Barbult
Your character looks terrific!
What hair is that that you are using? I saw the boris hair mentioned, but it doesn't look like the same hair on the product page.
Also, how do you get lighting like that? I always have prominent shadows and never enough lighting...when I start adding my own lights.
Thanks.
The hair is Real Short Hair for Genesis 2 Male(s). There is a trick to autofitting it to G3M. After autofitting, the hair cap was positioned properly, but the hair was not. I had to unfit the hair from the cap and parent the hair to G3M Head. The lighting is two point lights, one above and left of the character and one right and kind of behind the character. A render settings environment map is used with intensity and map at reduced values. Take a look here for a free light setup that makes a real good starting setup. It was created by VAlzheimer, the vendor of Wear Them All.
Edited to add: You can see the whole list of products used in that image in my gallery picture of him.
Hi @Barbult,
I love your image! I have the Real Short Hair product and also tried to use it on G3M. I was wondering if you could clarify what you did to fit the hair.
When I autofit the cap to G3M and then parent the hair to G3M head it doesn't render properly all I see is the cap. Am I missing a step? My question is, do you unparent the hair first from the camp and choose parent "none" and then autofit the cap to G3M and then parent the hair to G3M head? And does the hair have to autofit anything? I'm confusing myself just by writing this
.
Autofit "Real Short Hair.duf" (the hair file in the Content Library) to G3M. The cap will autofit to G3M and the hair will be parented to the cap. Click on the Real Short Hair that is parented to the Real Short Hair Cap and go to the Parameters tab. Set Fit to None. Change the parent of Real Short Hair from being parented to the Real Short Hair Cap to being parented in place to the G3M head. The hair should now move with the G3M head when G3M is posed. Since the Real Short Hair is just parented and not "fit to" the G3M head, it may not fit perfectly. Like any parented hair, you may need to adjust the scale and translation of the hair to fit. I adjusted yTranslate 1.4, zTranslate 0.4, X Scale 102%, z Scale 105%. To change the scaling, you first have to select to show hidden properties in the Parameters tab menu.
Edited to add: Do all this while G3M is in the default T Pose and standing at the default location where he loads. This has always worked best for me. If you pose G3M first, it will be a bear to get the parented hair postioned properly. Pose him or move him only after you have the parented hair positioned properly on his head. Also, since the hair is only parented, if you morph the head, the hair will not follow the shape. You will have to tweak the transformation settings to match.
Thank you so much for explaining. I'm going to go back and see if I can try this again. You're the best
!
Trish
Thanks from me too for explaining the hair and for the linke to the light presets!
Squeezin' a little more life out of M4 Valiant and some venerable freebie materials. Captain M7! "Well, you see, the multitronic Michael units one through six were not entirely successful. This one is. M7 is ready to take control of the ship. "
