I'm missing something somewhere - I have 5 defined libraries but I don't see any way to define them to EZFinder. Scan to file just scans my first library.
Are these libraries defined through the Install Manager?
They need to be listed in the Install Manger library path list.
If they are not listed in Install Manager, then you need to scan the libraries not native to Daz Studio with the Import External Scanner.
Daz Libraries = Compartment Tabs
Non Daz Libraries = Import External
If you are still having issues I will help troubleshoot the problem further for you.
Quick question to help me narrow this down — when you launch EZFinder, the splash screen shows a version number in gold text
at the bottom-left corner (something like "v1.0.x"). Could you let me know what version it says?
The only path that gets examined is D:/S4stuff/gen5
Quick workaround you can use right now, namffuak, while I work on the proper fix:
EZFinder validates each DIM-listed path by looking for at least one canonical DAZ folder at the root — data, Runtime,
People, Environments, Props, Presets, Light Presets, Render Presets, or Camera Presets. Your D:/S4stuff/gen5 library has
those folders (that's why it works); your other four don't, so they get filtered out before EZFinder even tries to scan
them.
The fix on your end is one folder per library — create an empty folder named data at the root of each:
It's just a marker — EZFinder only checks if it exists, nothing has to be inside. After you create them, restart EZFinder
and all five libraries will appear as compartments. Run Scan to File on each (or pick "Full Library Scan" from the picker
that'll now appear) and your full content will be searchable.
Once the next update ships with the proper fix (treating any DIM-listed path as a library), you can delete those empty data
folders if you want — they won't be needed anymore.
Let me know if this gets you all five libraries showing up!
EZFinder has been fixed to not search for these library folders before install or scan. You will see this change in the next EZFinder update once released via DIM, once the new update is installed, then you can remove the "empty" data folder markers that you created as a workaround.
That's not it - they all have non-empty data folders with DIM installed content.
I've traced this. Account.ini's location is hardcoded by DIM at %AppData%\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\UserAccounts\Account.ini —
so it must be there if your DIM works. The bug must be that EZFinder can't access your .ini from where it's launching.
1. Are you on Windows or Mac (CrossOver/Wine)?
If on Windows,
2. Are you running EZFinder normally, or as Administrator? If running normally try, "Run as Admin".
If it still does not see it.
3. Does your antivirus or Windows Defender's "Controlled Folder Access" feature treat EZFinder as untrusted? Try adding EZFinder.exe to your AV's exception list and your Defender allowed-apps list, then relaunch. If your library count jumps from 1 to 6, that's the obstruction.
If you're on Windows running normally with no AV restrictions, please open File Explorer, paste this into the address bar %AppData%\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\UserAccounts — and confirm Account.ini is sitting there. EZFinder not having access to your .ini file is the only explanation for this anomaly.
I just checked - when DIM is launched the Logon panel appears. There is a popup text message that displays if you mouse over the Account field "Click here to change accounts, or add a new one". Apparently I did this some time back in the past, because that's the sort of thing I do.

Well, this multiple account.ini problem was new to me and now with the fix in place in the next update, EZFinder can accommodate people who have multiple accounts for whatever reasons that be (at least I hope the new feature works).
I can't really test it, I do have two accounts but one I have not signed into in years. I will wait and if users inquire about their accounts not working, I will cross that bridge then. Happy scanning namffuak and thanks for your patience!
Hello!
Buying EZFinder was the absolute best thing I could have done in this area. I can finally find all my stuff and organize them exactly the way I want, without any compromises. My virtual library is only about 50% complete, but it’s already so much more usable this way. No more messy, cluttered packages, no more missing or lost items. The whole thing is awesome, the developer did a fantastic job. I love everything about it, and a huge thanks to EZ3DTV!

This is the kind of comment that gets framed and hung on the wall! Love to you! Thank you and enjoy the easy organization of your Daz content! EZ3DTV!
Tip: Always keep a backup copy of your EZFinderUSER folder and periodically refresh it. Store it in the cloud or somewhere safe in the event of any possible data issues...
The update is done, when my submission gets reviewed and tested it will get sent out. Imagine having to review and test EzFinder, not an easy job... Soon!
You will all love the update! Especially the fast append, scan for newly purchased DIM products in 1/2 to a few miinutes! HDRI scan works, and you can zoom thumbnails! Lots of fixes and new features!
I just added multi-account merging so EZFinder locates and allows you to scan all your account libraries if you wish. (Coming in the next update)
I just picked up EZFinder. I like what I see so far.
In one of your videos you show zooming to make thumbnails appear larger using the Control key and scrolling. I must have missed something, I can't seem to get this to work.

Hi Rex. Thanks for all the work you've put into EZFinder. Excited about being able to organize and access my content in an efficient manner.
Have started organizing thing in v1.03 and eager for 1.05 to arrive.
Is there a way (in current version or soon to be released one) to mass delete or automatically delete duplicate files within a folder? (if not, that would be a great feature for the future)
I understand you can easily end up with two (or more) files named 'pose 1' or 'standing' in the same folder, where these are actually different files from different products. But if a file has the same name and same metadata, it would seem to be a genuine duplicate that could safely be removed. Doing this manually gets tedious (though alphabetical sort feature may make things easier by placing direct dups right next to each other)..
Appreciate your availability on the forums and the little touches you've put into the program to make it user-friendly.

As Mosk indicated above, I'm also hoping the update you've submitted gets approved soon. FWIW, while I *know* it's not your fault, waiting this long (DAZ QA *soon*, etc.) for the fix to a basic program feature (HDRI scans) isn't really optimal. Perhaps you can post your own updates and betas somewhere else, in a way that they're only useful to legitimates owner who have the base system purchased and installed - e.g. maybe figure out a way to post the updates as patches/modules to your program base, rather than figuring out a way to post a complete package and manage the risks of piracy, etc.
Per Mosk's comment on duplicates, please be careful on this and maybe offer an optional 'hide duplicates' button or similar, as in my use-case, I am *certain* to have perceived duplicates in my libraries when a PA product offers versions of their product for multiple figures (e.g. Zeddicus often has poses for G8 and G9, or some PAs offer hair for G3 and G8, etc.). Because I separate my figures into distinct libraries (G8 vs G9, ...), I explicitly install such dual-products in *each* figure library.
Using this figure isolation, I often only enable the relevant figure libraries in my various DAZ Studio startup profiles (I use many). So, in my case, the mentioned assumption that clearing out duplicates won't hurt is not a safe assumption for some of us, given your tool creates appropriately references specific item in their distinct paths. 'Cleaning' out these may lead to the only available reference point to an unmounted library in DAZ Studio instance I'm working in/on. I hope this makes sense. Maybe there's a quick/clever solution (right-click menu->hide-item ?) but I'm guessing that making it automatic and non-disable-able will cause frustration if such duplicate 'hiding' can't be controlled manually as well.
Thanks for your efforts! Looking forward to the update.
I'm excited that you'll all be getting the new v1.0.5 update before long.
The new update is digitally signed, so it should have fewer issues with virus scanners. But that remains to be seen.
As for duplicate files within a virtual folder — duplicates aren't supposed to be able to occur there in the first place. But a leak has been discovered and plugged: loading virtual folders in from disk could create them.
There will be a right-click Remove Duplicates on a virtual folder, plus a global Remove Duplicates. The global one only removes duplicates within each folder, never across folders, so your curation stays intact.
The update comes with some solid speed advantages. Pagination is lightning-fast, and right-click insert into Daz Studio is no longer sluggish.
Hundreds of bug fixes and features...
Daz 3D has been slow at getting the update out, but it has really been a blessing, because it's allowed me to improve on a lot of things. It still looks the same, but it works much better. I think you'll really like the new Fast Append, which generally scans new items in under a minute.
Resize item icons by holding the Ctrl key, and newest-items-first now show by default in the workspace. There's also a new dropdown filter for generations (and date purchased).
The HDRI scanner button is fixed.
I'll try and see if Daz 3D can release the new update in the next week if possible.
Great news about fixes, features, and (let's hope) release coming sooner than later.
And with regard to @mindsong's post, I should have said 'automated' (but optional) rather than 'automatic.' I certainly don't want any fixes for my approach to mess up anyone else's.

great news, all - thanks for the responses and your consideration of my/our inputs.
coming late to this party, i have some suggestions and feedback based on the current version, but I'd like to base any forward thoughts off of your latest version, so I'll happily wait. You've likely fixed or updated many of the suggestions I've got.
(and Mosk, your suggestion about duplicates is great. Given the possible side-effects for the variety of our use-cases, it was worth the mention to Rex.)

I added a global Dedupe Folders button, and you can also right-click on a folder and remove duplicates that way.
The leak was plugged that caused duplicates and you now also have a global Dead Content button for those who have content with broken links.
You can also right-click on a folder and search for dead content and remove it that way.
These features must be used with caution. Make sure you save all tabs first before ever using these buttons just incase the result is not as expected.
Get all new feature requests in before this update is placed. It may be a while before the next update comes around.

The splash screen doesn't stay up long enough to get the version - but the main panel title bar is EZFinder - Advanced Content Management v 1.0.3
All the paths are defined in DIM and Studio -
[InstallPaths]
size=5
1\InstallPathTitle=gen5
1\InstallPath=D:/S4stuff/gen5
2\InstallPathTitle=tutorials
2\InstallPath=E:/tutorials
3\InstallPathTitle=mydata
3\InstallPath=D:/mydata
4\InstallPathTitle=shaders + Billboards + HDRI
4\InstallPath=G:/shaders
5\InstallPathTitle=HDRI
5\InstallPath=G:/HDRI
The only path that gets examined is D:/S4stuff/gen5

I am working on it, digging deeper to find the issue. I really appreciate that you have given me an alert on this issue, thanks!
I will be back soon, hopefully with a solution.

Let me know if you get it working!
Bingo! I'm not sure why/how - but in Settings\AppSettings.ini I have two lines:
[General]
CurrentUser=namffuak
and in UserAccounts I have namffuak.ini - not Account.ini
I copied namffuak.ini to Account.ini and it now finds the libraries.
ETA - I've been using DIM since the day it was released.
I am thrilled it is fixed!!! Thanks for the insight I will be patching EZFinder for your exact case so it does not happen. Enjoy the scans!
I am adding video tutorials, PDFs etc to the next update so they can be organized in EZFinder too (at least that is the plan).
For what it is worth, I don't have Account.ini either. I have myname.ini and no, I haven't tried EZFinder yet.
And is that referenced in the AppSettings.ini? Just curious.
Yes. The myname.ini is backed up, so whenever I do a clean install, I drop it into UserAccounts.
I just added multi-account merging so EZFinder locates and allows you to scan all your account libraries if you wish. (Coming in the next update)
