maybe making it a safe restricted type gallery like the sales pages images are hidden unless you click something and there is like a brief description of what the image my show contain so certain images aren't accidently viewed in schools, workplace, public extra or by those that don't want to see certain content
"Daz soon©®™"
It's a copyrighted, registered, trademarked brandname phrase, you know. Sort of like what Heinz did with "Anticipation©®™"
I miss posting images so I hope they hurry up lol or keep us informed about the progress, that would be nice :)
I hope they at least do a good job. At least for the images, since the shop really sucks.
Maybe the magnify icon will expand images to full size instead of limited to window width.
Hallelujah!

hopefully the AI sections will be removed and it will go back to being an actual daz studio gallery ....don't flame me lmao
No flame. I'm looking forward to AI sections being potentially removed as well.
I appreciate this comment so much.
However, some of the reasons I started using AI to enhance my work:
1. I cannot get anyone to make the clothes or the props I want.
2. I cannot afford to get all of the hair or clothes or props that I need for my project.
3. I don't have a ton of Photoshop talent.
4. My computer is 9 years old and NOT a gaming computer. Daz Studio crashes because of lack of power.
5. My eyesight isn't what it used to be. I'm 70 years old and sometimes working in Daz Studio trying to add several decorations to something is very difficult to get the angles, etc. right.
6. Many others, I just cannot remember more.
I use Ron's brushes to enhance my work, I use HDRI images for backgrounds...I use Chat GPT to make images of things to add to my renders.
What is true 3d Art?
No post work?
I really want to know.
Like any/all art... whatever you want it to be
two month celebration of NO GALLERY posts! Yay! One more month should do it.
I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to not posting anything.
Looks like the Gallery no longer "remains open for you to enjoy." It's been scrubbed from the drop-down menu.
If you mean under the Community drop down menu then it's still here on desktop too (using Firefox).
No, the account drop-down; there's no longer a "my gallery" option there.
Ah, I misunderstood, apologies. The account drop down has always been a bit of a blind spot for me as I tend to just go straight to my account page and access the product library, wishlist etc from there.
What browser are you using?
The Gallery is still available for me using Edge under the Community dropdown, and "My Gallery" is still available in the Gallery.
Place is "still under construction" though.
It seems to have been replaced by Product Library that was never directly in the dropdown before (at least I haven't seen it there).
To be specific, the account menu used to have a link directly to your own gallery page, and it has now been replaced by a product library option:
The fact it's been removed, even if it's theoretically easy to add back later, does not feel like a good omen for the gallery being promptly reinstated.
Okay, that could explain it.
TBH, I never noticed My Gallery being accessable from our User dropdown menu, as I always used the Community dropdown to go there. I was probably overlooking it all this time.
But I have to admit the Product Library is new to me--I always had to access Product Library after first going into the Account option there.
It does seem that numerous changes are happening. The layout and responses are noticably very different from what they were yesterday. I just tried the new Product Library link you mentioned and it loaded faster for me than it's ever done before, and its layout is very, very new.
Maybe mulch* is finally starting to happen here??

Why remove AI from the Gallery? I think any tool that works for you should be in your tool chest. I remember when "true artists" wouldn't use DAZ assets because that is other people's work. AI is the same thing, finding the ever improving AI image tool and a clever prompt should be celebrated in the DAZ gallery along with making your "masterpiece" using your DAZ assets and postwork.
Because it's not to do with Daz?
It's maybe got an argument if it's an AI assist to turn a Daz render into a different style (I have one thing in my gallery where I was seeing if I could use AI to convert a scene to a 1950s pin-up), but when Daz isn't part of the workflow at all? I wouldn't assume that a gallery associated with the Daz store was the right place to upload pictures of my miniatures sculpting or sketches.
Ultimately the gallery is a marketing tool for Daz, showing off what their software and products are capable of. Where's the sense in Daz letting the gallery be used to show off someone else's products? Generative imagery is heavy competition for much of Daz's market - Daz should really want to turn their gallery into the best showcase of what can be done with their software and products, preferably with much better integration to and from the store so that gallery browsers can find products they like more easily, and store browsers can be inspired by what other people may have done with a product they might be considering.
An upload that can't link to any product on the store because it's all been made up by a generative network? What's the point in that for Daz? Inspiring people to go and use someone else's software?
While I'm in general against AI (it is not a tool, it's something you commision to do images for you as you would commission an artist: you don't call yourself an artist for commissioning a picture from one, and you don't call that artist "just a tool" you used, but that discussion has been had ad nauseam already), even if I was to acknowledge it as a "tool," there is a difference between using AI to enhance image and using AI to spit out an image and maybe (because some images didn't even have that much) slapping on tiny 3d product in front of a huge AI-generated background. And as much as it might bring some people joy of not doing much (any) work and having a picture, the latter isn't really about 3d products, and Daz sells 3d products, not gen-AI. There are plenty of spaces where people can share their AI results. Asking for AI to be present in a Daz 3d store is like insiting that a company selling watercolor paints and brushes should allow oil paintings and quilts in their gallery.
Um... but... literally the point of this gallery is for people using Daz assets. It was created for that exact reason. So this argument makes no sense.
Many people *still* don't use Daz assets because they don't consider that true art, no "I remember when" required. It's an ongoing thing.
And then they post their art in some other gallery. And probably don't come to the Daz gallery because they're not interested in that kind of art.
That's the great thing about the internet... everything doesn't have to be in one place. It can be in the appropriate place, and then people looking for it can find it there.
Curious, if someone created an image using the Daz AI app when it was active, should that be banned from the gallery also?
For simplicity, I would say "yes, remove those too".
It's not a service Daz provides any more, and the idea that Daz has to eternally provide a separate space in the gallery for them will just be a barrier to overhauls and efficient UI in future (and most of those generations are probably all pretty dated already, with how fast models have advanced).
What a novel idea!
When i started using Daz a few years ago, the galleries drew me in, because they showed me what was possible with Daz assets. I was only writing then and doing some sketchiing, painting, but looking for ways to quickly illustrate and storyboard my ideas. Then I stepped away and came back recently and I was immediately taken back by all the AI stuff, not just in the galleries but also the forums as well.
For me the galleries are as important as the store promos. I like to see what real people are doing with the content. But if the Galleries are filled with AI or with pics enhanced with AI then I can no longer trust what I am buying, its that simple. So then I will no longer even bother to look at the galleries at all. There are probably a hundred other galleries and social media sites where you can post AI enhanced content. At the very least, I think this website that is the main hub of Daz content should be Daz content only.
A couple things Daz could do is requre any gallery images to have links to items used, not optional, but required. A gallery image can't even be posted if it doesn't use any Daz content in the image from this site and also require a wireframe image to prove it was made in Daz, like Renderosity does for contests now. And then anyone violating this is banned from gallery posting.
I would prefer not to make the gallery submission process any more awkward than it currently is, and instead incentivise users to include product links rather than force them to. (As, indeed, the product listing tools are actually quite horrible).
This isn't particularly difficult to do, even without getting into Rendo's approach of trying to give you store rewards for doing it. If you integrate gallery posts into store pages (although probably in a separate section that makes it clear they are user-submitted content) - much like Daz Deals currently does - then people are naturally given a bigger and better audience for their work, so there's a good reason to want to list products you used.
Expecting people to submit wireframe images and the like would just make the gallery more hassle to use, when the real thing Daz should be trying to do is make it more used and more popular to inspire people to use their products and post more works to inspire others.
This.
I would stop posting in the gallery if all that extra stuff was required. There's really nothing in it for me except a hope that seeing one of my pictures makes somebody smile. Requiring a list of all assets? For most of the settings I have kitbashed together, that woud be incredibly time-consuming. I'm not going to spend all that effort proving my art is actually MY art. I'd rather spend it making some more art.
