Oversized Women's Straw Hats - HQ

I've been looking for a good quality, oversized women's straw hat for some time now, something like the ones shown.  I found some on the Daz store, but none that I feel would hold up in a close portrait kind of scenario.  I also stumbled across a set (one I sadly forgot to bookmark), that had one of these hats in it.  So I'm just wondering how many more environments, prop sets etc there must be on here with that specific style of oversize hat hidden it.

I'd buy it just for the hat if the hat was worth it to me, but searching for these things on the Daz Store,  it doesn't matter how many variations of search you use, it simply doesn't pick-up on the stuff that is hidden within other products, other environments, prop sets etc.

So it has to look photorealistic, or at the very least it needs to look as if it's made of actual straw and not some printed on look, and has to be available on here.

Any help appreciated, since the only way I'll ever get to know which products are hiding such a hat, is from those who own a product that does.  I don't mind the tatty straw look either, in fact that might even be preferable, but it really needs to look like proper straw and be the sort of size and style shown with the wavy edge.

There is this one, morphs into several styles including floppy brimmed, does not require Beanie Hair to function.

This bundle has a lot of summery things including a nice hat that can have the brim widened

    Thanks all for the recommendations!

I've seen most of these, and as pointed out I only buy content on here, but basically, imagine a head and shoulders portrait of a woman. and it's very windy so she's holding her hat in place by pressing it against the top of her head with one hand.  With her elbow pointed downwards, her forearm would naturally push against the brim of the hat, pressing it against the side of her face.  This means there'd be a lot of 'straw edge' and thickness visible in the render, so the hat needs to have actual thickness (which they do), but the ends of the straw that face the camera would need to look like real straw, otherwise it wouldn't look right, it would look painted on.

Just my luck really.  These hats would probably work for every scenario other than mine.  What I'll do is put the idea to one side for now, and have a go at making my own later on.  Easy enough to do, I just don't have Substance Painter installed at the moment so it'll have to wait, no biggie.

Have you looked at https://www.daz3d.com/tin-summer-hats-collection-for-genesis-9-and-8-female that was released today? There is a large straw hat that has a beige material with a lighter stripe, but a shader might handle that.

    Evidently, that's a re-release, because I own it already.

Hi @xyer0, you are correct. I hadn't even noticed that. No wonder the price is showing at $7.20 today.

Yup, saw it.  In fact it was that  "Happy Cinco de Mayo!"  promotion that finally prompted me to ask on the forum (the Mexican bloke in the straw hat)  :-D

Here are some options for Oversized Hats by Arah from over at Rendo:

    Arah3D May Hats for G8F and G9

    Arah3D Elegant Hats for G8F and G9

    Arah3D Elegant Hats Vol.02 for G8F and G9

While those don't have a specific "Straw" Hat only, The May Hats have a nice "wicker" texture and you can hide the surfaces you don't need (since the hats are made with multiple surfaces not just say, a "Hat" surface), and the textures are tileable so you can copy the main hat surface to trims surface and resize the tiling of the trim slightly to get them to match the main texture better. Or of course use your own tilable straw texture/shader.

Keep in Mind though that these are "Props" that are parented to Head, so they are not rigged at all, and have no morphs, so you have to use scaling to adjust them, or create your own morphs. That aside they are great hats.

Actually, I should probably have used the term "Wicker" as well, because that's kinda what I meant but just assumed they were different terms used for straw.  The hats are nice, but I'm eventually gonna want some cowgirl hats too so might as well just make my own since none of them are exactly what I wanted and would need to be heavily modified anyway.

Sounds ridiculous, but sometimes it's just easier to make something from scratch than it is to modify something else.

Thanks all for the recommendations, it's very much appreciated but in hindsight it makes more sense for me to make my own.  It wouldn't matter so much in background and more general scenes, but I need a very specific look for a set of high-resolution close-up shots, so I'm just gonna have to make my own.
