There should not be any problem with LIE presets. Can you get them to work with Genesis 9? If they work on Genesis 9 they should work on Genesis 8 with the new UVs and geografts. Unfortunately I don't have that Makeup product so I can't test it myself.
Cayman, thank you, but I have solved easy, by opening Genesis 9, applying a texture and makeup, and saving the whole thing as a material preset, I was able to apply it as usual.
Hi, I would love to be able to use this product corectly. I have been messing around with it for hours and cannot for the life of me get it to work. This is what my result looks like. Any Ideas? Thanks a lot.
First of all you need to save the textures from the original Genesis 9 characters as ordinary Material presets, as most Genesis 9 textures come as Hierarchical Material presets.
Then, after you have run the "Prepare" script, you load these Material presets onto the Genesis 8/8.1 mesh (there should be 5 presets: Skin, Eyes, Lashes, Mouth, Tear). Then you run the "Apply UVs" script.
Let me know if you have any more difficulties.
Genesis 9 UVs for Genesis 8 and 8.1 Male will be released shortly.
As previously, you will need to convert the Genesis 9 Hierarchical Material presets to ordinary Material presets before loading them onto Genesis 8 and 8.1. There is also UV support for the Anatomical Elements.
And, as always, let me know about any issues which may arise.
Yay!
Woot!!!!
Great news
It's out and straight in the cart :)
Thank You.
Now I only need a program to transfer G9 figures on G8(.1) bases without too much effort and I might even start buying G9 figures.
why a separate male/female UV pack. What is different, other than the genitals?
G8 male and female have different meshes (the chest is different IIRC), so they need different geografts and alternate UVs.
Well, that went in the cart quickly. Ka-ching! :) While I'd still love to see a G9 for G3F eventually, Genesis 8 has become my default all-purpose base for new characters going forward and it's going to be great to finally be able to use the male G9 skins.
Try this tutorial for converting G9 meshes/morphs to G8--I've been using this for G9 female characters for several months now and it works quite well.
Tried it several times and didn't manage to get it to work. Obviously my own fault, but one of the reasons is that I am utterly horrible when trying to work with a video "how to do it". Give me a written manual and I might get it done - any video just goes in at one ear and out of the other without leaving any information in the region between.
I can't get the script to work, it says g8/8.1 is ready (I've tried both) but nothing has happened. If I apply everything manually, no texture applies to the eyes on g8 or the face and eyes on g8.1. I'm stumped.
Edit: does the script expect to find the data files in a particular place/drive/librar/content; if so, where would that be.
Lorraine, that picture attachment is puzzling me. Normally when you run the Prepare script all the figure surfaces revert to neutral grey, and the geografts to their default colour, without textures, and then the message box appears saying that Genesis 8 is ready for Genesis 9 textures. In this case the message box appears yet the surfaces are not reverted to neutral. I would like to know how you managed that! (The script should work if all the other files which come with the product are in the same folder.)
More generally, the lashes need to be selected in the Surfaces tab before you load the Genesis 9 lashes material onto them. The Prepare script would normally select all required nodes automatically (including the Eyelashes). If you inadvertently deselect these nodes by, say, clicking in the Viewport, then the materials will naturally not load.
For Genesis 8.1 there is a further complication in that the Genesis 9 Head texture will not load directly onto the Face, Ears, Lips and Eyesocket surfaces, so additional lines in the "Apply UVs" script explicitly copy the texture onto these surfaces from the Head surface. For this reason you should always run the "Apply UVs" script, especially for Genesis 8.1, rather than change the UVs manually.
It was really easy, I just selected the figure and clicked the script. But nothing happened. All the files are in the folder with the script, data folders are all where they are supposed to be.
Things I have tried:
Moved Genesis 9 UVs from Materials (where I had it ) to Anatomy (where you had it), no luck.
Took the folder out of My Library/!!Figures/Genesis 8 Male/Anatomy and moved it to My Library/People/Genesis 8 Male/Anatomy, no luck. (I have the two locations as one of Zev0's scripts didn't work with my !!Figures setup and needed the Genesis 8 figures in People)
My library is on a different ssd to DS program, in Documents/studio4/My Library, could that be the problem? I always manually install my content and apart from Data and Textures, it goes where I want it except for exceptions like the problem with Zev0's script and also anything for the Ultrascenery products which have to live where they want instead. My library is as idiosyncratic as I am and that does seem to cause a problem for some scripts.
Lorraine, try this:
1) Load Genesis 8 Male
2) Select Genesis 8 Male in the Scene tab
3) Double-click on the "Genesis 9 UVs - Geografts" icon
4) Double-click on the "Start Materials" preset icon
5) Double-click on the "Surfaces" script icon
6) In the Scene tab make sure the "Genesis 8 Male", "Genesis 8 Male Eyelashes" and "Genesis 9 UVs Geografts" nodes are all selected
7) Load the five ordinary Genesis 9 Material presets you have saved for the Eyes, Eyelashes, Mouth, Tear and Skin (the Eyes and Skin MAT can take quite a few seconds to load, so wait until they have).
8) Finally double-click on the "Apply UVs(M)" script icon.
This sequence by-passes the master "Prepare" script which I suspect has been thrown off by your idiosyncratic file arrangement.
Anyway, give it a try and see what happens!
IT WORKED!!!! Sorry, I'm a little overwhelmed, it's 4am and I really should be asleep but I couldn't not try it out. Thank you for your help and for not being annoyed with my 'idiosyncratic file arrangement', I really appreciate that :)

Lorraine - excellent!
