How to install Measure Metrics

What is the secret to installing Measure Metrics?

When I select Download and Install on my order page, it says " The account referenced is not setup in Install Manager.."

I guess it's a plugin. How do you install a plugin?

sad

Thanks for any light you can shed on this process.

Hmm, do you have Daz Install manager installed and does it fire up for other Install links? Can you not just launch Install manager, then type Measure in the filter box in ready To Download to get the installer and start it?

  • Daz Install Manager works fine for everything else.

I select the Download & Install button in my order invoice.

Usually it would be ready in Install Manager.

Maybe because it's a plug in, it requires a different procedure to install?

Yes, make sure you have plug-ins enabled in the Download Filters list (button in the ready to Download tab of DM) - though I assume you would have noticed if other plug-ins were not showing up too.

It starts DIM for me, I didn't go further as I already have it installed.

  • I don't understand.   "Download Filters list (button in the ready to Download tab of DM)"

DIM is Daz Install Manager but what is DM?

In DIM, I see under Ready to Download the Download Filters and clicking that I see that under Downloads there's Install Type Tags and Plugins is checked.

In Daz itself I see that there is a list of installed plugin in the help menu.

When I try to download Measure Metrics manually, it gives an error message.

Sorry, DIM is what I meant (this may have been my keyboard typoing rather than me - the i key is behaving oddly).

Ah, I thought you were installing through clicking the button on the product page. The direct download works for me, from https://www.daz3d.com/downloader/customer/files#prod_16684 - the beta/Public Build channels do require the use of DM, however, so if you are trying one of those versions it may well fail (though it would be an odd error to get).

  • Yes, I was trying to install from the button on the product page. But when that didn't work, I was looking for another way - so the direct download. The link you gave it what I used..Here's the message I get : DS4_MeasureMetrics_1.14.0.4_Win64.exe isn't commonly downloaded. Make sure you trust DS4_MeasureMetrics_1.14.0.4_Win64.exe before you open it.

The file as downloaded is titled :  UNCONFIRMED 651594. crdownload

So, there's something odd going on.  I don't understand it.

  • I also tried the button Daz Connect Offline Package and  Offline Authorization File.

    That downloads 1_16684.sep and 1_6684.sea.

Clicking on those gives an error message saying " unable to find software to open this file"

The .sep and .sea files are for use with Daz Connect - installing through Daz Studio while it sn offline. Plug-ins won't work that way anyway.

The message looks like Windows or your security software objecting because the installer either isn't signed or in some other way isn't immedaitely seen as trustworthy, or less plausibly some kind of malware interfering.

  • Thanks for all your help. Good to have this information.

What would you do if you were me?

There must be a way to do this!

As I saiid, it is a security setting. This seems to be a similar issue, and apparently it is from Edge https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/2402458/trust-a-download

Finding the SmartScreen turnoff buttons was tricky.

Here's a screenshare that should help people find its location.

I did finally get the files to download.

  • I turned off Smartscreen and was able download and run the files.

    I ran DS4_MeasureMatrics_1.14.0.4_Win64.exe

And got the message: The installation path for DAZ Studio could not be found. "Measure Metrics DS4 (64bit" cannot be installed. Setup will now quit.

What is the installation  process?  What steps are required once the files are downloaded.

Do you have DS 4 installed, using the same method (downloaded, stand-alone installer)? You can't mix stand-alone installers for plug-ins with Iinstall manager installation of Daz Studio itself.

  • Ah ha! Maybe that's it. I installed Daz Studio with Install Manager. And the Measure plugin was downloaded.

  • Well, I've installed  Daz Studio without the install manager. I have Windows so I installed the following packages: DS4_MeasureMetrics_1.14.0.4_Win64.exe, 16684_FigureMetricsforDAZStudio46Win_1.4_ds.exe, and IM00016684-21_FigureMetricsforDAZStudio46Content.

They were all in the Downloads directory on my computer, so when I unzipped the content it went into the Downloads directiory, which , I"m guessing, is not where it's supposed to be.

In any case, there is no sign of Measure Metrics in DAZ.

Also, in the Readme, they talk about Daz 4.6. So, what's that?

  • Hooray! I see it is in the installed plugin list. BUT i need a registration number.

Where can I get the registration number?

Click on the little yellow man in the upper right corner and select My Account > Serial numbers

If you let Daz Studio connect to your account you can also get the serial number from the drop down to the right of the text box.

  • Phew!  I finally got it working. Yay!

Thanks so much for your help.
