Magix 101 hairs. thoughts?

I notice there are a number of these in the v4/m4 sale and I've had a few in my wishlist for ever, but I was just wondering how well these work nowdays with DS 4.8
Anyone have some experience with these and will relate the same to me. Thoughts? Raves? complaints?

    Generally speaking, hair hasn't changed much. A good hair piece and material can still be quite usable. You'd probably have to play with the materials a bit to get them to look good in Iray, or there are some optimized shaders available for sale. You may also find that you need to parent the hair rather than auto-fit it to get it to keep it's shape properly. For that matter, some older hair are props rather than conforming items, but that won't keep you from using them productively.

    I don't know about Magix' hair products in particular, but you can always return anything that doesn't work out.

    Well I have UHT hair shaders for Iray, but I'm curious about these hair in particular.

    There are some basic ways to breathe a lot of life into old hairs.

    First, make sure to have at least subd 1 on the hair. Get some map of strands (black and white somewhat irregular striped pattern), tile it horizontally 16+ times in Displacement with -.1 to +.1 at about SubD: 4. Either use UHT or Unshaven 2 hair or experiment -- get rid of any diffuse or glossy colors. The key is to preserve the cutout.

    Even a hair helmet starts looking like real hair.

    If you mean how they work with IRay, there's a couple of quick samples here, using the default (3DL) textures (Sabrina / Evangelique) and then one (Savannah) using the UHT TN shader.

    hey there. Thanks for the reply,  I purchased a few around 30 mins ago.  I just meant all the way around, just if they were quality hair and how they worked in 3dl and iray.

    Heh, I wonder if 'Wear them all' would succeed in fitting these on G3F. I will have to try that. devil wink

    Yup. 'Wear Them All' comes through once again. Sabrina hair for V4 on Victoria 7. yay! I love that plug-in. Breathing new life into all kinds of items.
