The GenX Script is not showing up my Daz Studio Windowpane list

I have used GenX many times in the past to transfer a morph from Victoria 4 to Genesis 2 and it worked perfectly.

That was in Daz Studio 4.12.  Now, I have Daz Studio 4.24 and it is not showing up.

I am showing my Window Pane list in Daz Studio 4.12 in the first pic.

Then, I am showing Daz Studio Window Pane list in Daz Studio 4.24 and my Windows Exployer plugins.  I reinstalled everything through DIM this morning.

I rebooted my computer and restarted Daz Studio.  I don't know what else to do.

Please help!

P.S.

Also, why do I have docs\plugins AND Plugins\

I would love to combine all of my libraries...Daz Content...My Daz Library...and then the one I set up on an external drive when I installed Daz Studio 4.24 last year.  Can I combine them.  I have very little room on my Drive C.

    Update:

I do not have Daz Studio 4.12 in my Daz Studio files, however, I do have Daz Studio 4.11 (I would like to say that it is very unfair to not be able to download previous versions of Daz Studio.)

So, I have installed that.  I copied the plugin files to DS 4.11

The Genx Windowpane is showing up!  I am now going to try it!!  Wish me luck!!

It worked!!  I still don't see the GenX tool in DS 4.24, however was able to do what I wanted in DS 4.11!!!

/Plugins has the plug-ins, /docs/plugions has the documentation for the plugins. If the .dll file for the plugin in the plugns folder? How are you installing, and how are you getting two different versions (or are you switching between them)?

How am I switching between DS 4.24 and DS 4.11?  Today, I had both 4.24 and 4.11 open.

I have Daz Studio 4.24 installed on drive C and I have Daz Studio 4.11 installed on one of my external drives, which happens to be Drive I.

I created a folder called Daz Studio 411 on my Drive I when I installed 4.11 on my computer this afternoon...just to see if I could get the GenX plugin to work.

I put a shortcut on my desktop after going to my folder "Daz Studio 411," finding the .exe file.  I created a shortcut from the .exe (executible file) and copied it to my desktop.

I had done a lot of maniplulating computer stuff since 1986.  LOL

I was a Controller of a country club and development firm in Houston, Texas from 1986 to 2020.  I was in charge of 20 computers...some  Point-of-Sale and some just on the network.  I do things that I think are common sense, since I really don't know much about computers...never got into programing and such.

I can change a Poser cr2 and pp2 and such in wordpad to correct where a texture file should be or whatever I need to do.  But the correct a duf file?  No!!  I do NOT understand anything about that.

So, I am a happy camper.  I have transfer Alice for V4 to G2F and then to G8F.  The eyes are really bad...just like Character Converter from Genesis 2 Female to Genesis 8 Female | Daz 3D tutorial said might happen.  However, the rest of her face...mouth and nose...is beautiful.

I wish I knew how to correct her eyes.  I am going to have to do a ton of post work if I ever use her.

OK, so how are you installing the plug-in so that it goes to both versions, assuming it does?

I installed the GenX plugin for DS 4.24 via DIM and for DS 4.11 via manual installation (Copy and paste :) )

The plugin is NOT showing up in DS 4.24

However, it shows up and works just fine in 4.11

So, I used the GenX AND the GenX Addons in 4.11.  I transferred Alice morphs from Victoria 4.2 to Genesis 2 Female.

Then, I used Character Converter from Genesis 2 Female to Genesis 8 Female | Daz 3D in Daz 4.24 to transfer Alice morphs from G2F to G8F.

    And you saw the results.

Here is Alice for G2 on the left and Alice for G8 on the right:

I used N.G.S. Anagenessis 2 - Revolution on G2.  I think she looks wonderful!  I might use her for some I my work!  I went from V4 to G8 in 2018.  I did a few things with G2, but not much.

How about in Help>About Installed plug-ins?

I might have done something really stupid.

I told you I installed GenX and the Add ons via DIM to DS 4.24, which I did.

However, I looked at the C:Programs and DS 4.24 did NOT have all of the dll's, so I copied them over.  I might have messed up.  Hopefully not.

The Help files in 4.24 do NOT have GenX and the Help files in 4.11 DO have GenX.

The docs folder, in the first screenshot, is not the plug-ins folder that has the .dlls.  It does look as if the DS 4 (.24) folder is missing a lot of stuff.

Well, Richard...you are so right!!!  Dang, you are of the smartest people I know!  Thank goodness you are here.

I started looking at the file list:  File List [Documentation Center] Genesis Generation X2 for DAZ Studio 4.5+ (Win 64-bit)

I found the App Data under C:\Users\jrf15\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\Studio4

Then, I thought, I am going to download the files from my product listings, which I did.  They were all executibles, which my computer was not happy with, however, I HAVE to trust Daz3d.  That is all we had 20 years ago were .exe files, if memory serves.

I began to install these exe files.  On the first, I thought I am going to see exactly where this is being installed.

These exe files wanted to be installed in a new Library I had set up last year, however completely forgot about:

    D:\Programs\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4

I think I set this up when I wanted to go from DS 4.15 to DS 4.21 (I was scared to install DS 4.24 because I had read about how things would not work properly.)

Another place were things are installed. :(

I don't know how, but DS 4.11 already had D:\Programs\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4 in the DS format listings.

I, then, added D:\Programs\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4 to the DS 4.24 listings and there "GenX" was in the Window Panes List!

I moved the GenX list to my tabs!!  I haven't tried it yet, however I would think it will work just fine now!!

Thank you for hanging in there.  You KNEW that the GenX product should work in DS 4.24!!!  This old 70 year old lady thank you so much!!! LOL

So, this is what I learned:

I had to manually install these as executibles AND I had to add the new DS library on my D drive that I forgot about to the DS 4.24 lists of libraries :)

Richard, can I combine any of the directories?

I would love have all of my libaries in one place on my Drive I.  (I would back it up to another external drive, as well.)  If not in one folder, maybe next to each other.

I would have to change the DIM to know where I want anything installed.

I am wondering how the GenX executibles knew which library to install them in.  Do you know, Richard?

These are the libraries I have.  I think this is all.

    D:\Programs\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4
    I:\1-Poser-2020\1-Daz Studio 424 Library
    I:\1-Poser-2020\Daz Studio 411
    C:\Users\jrf15\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D
    I:\1-Poser-2020\1-Daz3d\!Software\Daz Studio 421\1-Daz Studio 421
    C:\Users\jrf15\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Daz Connect Library

I ton of mismanagement on my part, for sure.

Then, I keep all of my products in separate libraries.

In prior days, I would back up all of my (Example) Genesis Libaries to another external drive.  Now, it is much better for me to keep the orginal downloads as my backup files on the other external drive.  I want my back ups to be exactly how Daz zipped them up. LOL

I installed all of my Poser props AND DS props in one Library/Runtime beause so many used the same texture files.

I was trying to keep up my Poser products AND my DS products.  I am no longer installing any Poser stuff.  If I have something that is Poser only and I would like to still use it, I am using DS to transfer it to a Duf file.

I just cannot mentally handle all of the Poser props and DS props anymore!

Generally combining content directories is not a problem for DS (the exception is for custom actions, which store absolute paths, starting from the drive letter). DIM, however, does store absolute paths for the content it installs, since it needs to be able to find the files to uninstall or update them properly - if you kept the original packages you can just update the path in DIM and reinstall using current paths from the right-click menu in the Installed tab, otherwise you'd have to edit the .dsx files in the DIM Manifests folder (assumign you still have those, of course, I am not sure how much reorganising you have already done). One thing to watch out for would be replacing newer files from an update in one content directory with older files from a previous install, which might break things.

Thank you so much!!  Yes, copying older files on top of new files is definitely something to watch out for!

Well, this has been very eye-opening.

Of course, when I post about a problem...it IS eye-opening.  LOL
