I’d like to hear about the experiences of those of you who use the RTX 2060 12GB.
Do you think this GPU is the sweet spot for someone who needs a fairly capable GPU but is still on a limited budget?
I previously made a thread asking about my needs and whether the GTX 1050 Ti would be suitable for DAZ, and I got some really helpful feedback there.
Now, after doing a bit of research, I’m assuming that the RTX 2060 12GB would be enough for me. It seems reasonably affordable and comes with plenty of VRAM, although it would probably cause a CPU bottleneck for gaming.
My current CPU is a Ryzen 5 3400G.

It depends on how much budget you actually have.
In 2019, I bought a 2060 6G and used it for 4 years to render G8 characters. Back then, I would manually adjust 4K textures to 2K, some to 1K, and reduce rendering subdivision levels. I would even further compress the scene and enable DOF, and the experience was still very good with a 6G card.
But bro, I have to remind you, I'm not sure if there are still brand-new graphics cards in the RTX 20 series or RTX 30 series now. If it's a used graphics card, there's a high probability that it's a refurbished card retired from a digital currency mining farm around 2023, which has been heavily used. Although it's very cheap, there might be significant quality issues, and you need to ask if the after-sales service is comprehensive.
I see that in your previous post you mentioned 8G RAM, and I think memory is also very serious. This means the system may be crazy calling virtual memory, further reducing software running speed.
I also suggest you disable the CPU in the rendering hardware and use only the GPU for rendering. When the gap between GPU and CPU is too large, the GPU will wait for the CPU to complete the calculations that belong to the CPU. Additionally, you also need to consider whether there are unnecessary lights in the scene, as they can significantly increase the amount of calculation.
